After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. The Ring Doorbell Wired must be hardwired to a transformer with 10-24 VAC, 20-40VA max, and 50/60Hz. It sounds as though you may have returned this doorbell and purchased a battery model. The Ring Doorbell Wired uses an included jumper cable to bypass your home’s internal chime kit, so it will not ring inside. If you’d like audio notifications inside your home, you’ll need to purchase a Ring Chime to hear them.
All of Ring’s other battery and hardwired doorbell models (Ring Doorbell Pro, Ring Doorbell Pro 2, Ring Doorbell (2020 Release), Ring Doorbell 3/3+, and Ring Doorbell 4) will work with in home chime kits and AC current doorbell transformers. We strive to include all needed parts, tools, and instructions to make the process seamless for our customers. However, in some installation instances and unique home environments, assistance from a qualified professional or someone familiar with installing Ring products may be best.

You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that Ring [device] is designed to add to your home security. We completely understand the relevance of having your device online and connect to your wifi network, as this ensures you can access the camera to check on activity around your home anytime day or night.

Although they are rare, disconnects can occur and can usually be traced back to nearby interference or underlying network issues. Both of which are easily resolved with a few changes. A common solution to most network related problems is creating a guest network. You could then pair the Ring Doorbell Wired to the guest network to ensure the device remains online. Another thing to consider is wifi interference caused by a nearby object or material. Things such as brick, metal, stucco etc. can diminish a wifi signal as it reaches your camera.

You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that the Ring Doorbell Wired is designed to add to your home security.

If your Ring Doorbell Wired is not responding to any activity (dings or motion) and you've ensured the battery pack is fully charged, a hard reset may be needed. To complete the reset, please hold the setup button down for 15 consecutive seconds and then release. The device will take about one minute to complete the reset. Please allow a couple of minutes and then attempt a new set up within the Ring app. Once the new setup is complete, please test the doorbell again.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Video Doorbell Wired picking up correct motion. The Ring Doorbell sees the world is through a network of PIR or "Passive Infrared" motion sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. Since people are hotter than the surrounding areas, as a person enters the detection area, the heat measurements change. The motion sensors register this change as movement and send out an alert. If this is the case, we recommend you to adjust your current set motion zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. In order to work continuously, your device needs to be hardwired to an adequate power source. You can use a standard transformer rated at (10-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz, or 24VDC, 0.5A, 12W).
