The Ring Chime and Chime Pro can play audio alerts when motion is detected on your Ring device or when someone presses your Ring doorbell. Ring Chime was designed with the ability to customize the type of sound you hear when an event takes place.

Your Chime or Chime Pro can play different sounds for motion and ring events. We recommend following these steps to choose the best sound for Chime alerts for your environment:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the top menu (☰) and then Devices.
Select your Chime or Chime Pro device.
Tap Audio Settings, then Chime Tones.
You'll see two tabs at the top of the screen: rings and motions.
Tap Rings and select your favorite sound. Chime will play when someone presses your doorbell. You'll hear an audio sample when chosen. You can also adjust the volume with the slider.
Tap Motions and select your favorite sound. Chime will play when motion is detected on your Ring doorbells and cameras. You can also adjust the volume with the slider.

All our devices do come with a limited one-year warranty, in which Ring will repair or replace any Ring products that malfunction due to defective parts or workmanship, at no charge to you. There is also an extended warranty available through our Ring Protect Plus Plan option. For extended warranty coverage to apply to your Ring device, the device must be within its original warranty period when you subscribe to Ring Protect Plus. Once the original warranty expires, the device will be covered under Ring protect Plus until you discontinue your subscription. Non-Ring and other third-party devices are not eligible for the extended warranty.

It sounds like there was some confusion when purchasing your Ring device. If you are looking for a battery-powered device, the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) might be a good fit. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is a battery-powered device that has 1080p HD video, an additional “near” motion zone that provides motion detection in areas only 5’-15’ in front of your home, and a revamped mounting setup that simplifies installation and removal for battery charging. In our support center, we've listed Ring smart doorbell features and recommendations for device models that might be best for your needs.

We want to work with you to make sure we get your devices working as intended. We are confident we can resolve this together today.

It sounds like you are having trouble setting up the Ring Chime. The Ring Chime connects to 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz wifi and can be paired with any number of Ring devices. Once connected, your Ring Chime will work anywhere it has a wifi connection. We recommend setting up your Ring device (video doorbell or security camera) first, then setting up the Ring Chime. After the device and the Chime are active and on the wifi network, use the Ring app to associate the Ring Chime with the Ring device. Visit our support center for additional tips and tricks.
