Good video but worthless Chime!

I setup the system easily. I felt the instructions were good. But the Chime rang once then wouldn't respond. After an hour on the phone with customer service (who were very nice), they decided to send me a replacement Chime. It took about a week, but the new Chime arrived and seemed to do the same thing. Again I called customer service, they talked me through reinstalling the Chime. It worked two or three times, but about an hour later it didn't ring when someone pushed the button. The app on the phone rang, but not the Chime. By the next morning, the Chime went offline by itself. Now I have connected my Ring Doorbell to my Alexa and it now rings through the Alexa dots and shows throughout the house. For an inexpensive video doorbell the wired Ring is good, but don't waste your money on the combination Doorbell & Chime. The Chime is a waste of $20.

We're glad to hear you were able to get an alternative solution implemented; however, you are correct that you should be able to enjoy the peace of mind the Ring Chime is designed to provide. If the device was plugged into the same outlet both times, we recommend trying another outlet to ensure the one being utilized is not shorting out the device. While this is not a typical concern, it's important to consider environment also playing a factor in the performance of your devices.

The minimum voltage for this doorbell is inaccurate. I tested the voltage on my transformer before I purchased this. I bought this older generation unit on purpose because it required a lower minimum voltage as compared to the newer units. It doesn't work! It will not complete the setup and says I now need to upgrade my transformer. Had I known that I would have never bought this unit, replaced my transformer first, then bought a better quality unit. This purchase was a waste of money.

We are saddened to hear that the set up could not be completed with your current transformer. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired must be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer with 10–24 VAC, 40 VA max, and 50–60 Hz for continuous charging. If the transformer cannot consistently supply power within that range, the setup may fail or the device may not function correctly.
