The chime allow for hearing doorbell in areas that are normally difficult to hear when someone ring the door.

We never planned on owning one but when our old doorbell broke during the siding replacement, Bestbuy had a great deal so we bought one. We will probably buy a camera for the back door as well. Pros- a little peace of mind that your house is always being monitored. Inexpensive yearly monitoring. (Monitoring only includes saving all of your video alerts, not like ADT where it alarms a 3rd party). Easy to talk to people when you're not there, this is a great feature, especially to deter pesky salesmen. Cons- very sensitive, even on the low setting. Depending on your preference, this could be a bonus. Chime is very loud and can be a little annoying when kids are going in and out. Again, this could be a pro.

Wired not wireless

I exchanged it for a wireless one because electrician wanted $660.00 plus materials to rewire home. We tried to hook it up ourselves first but the wire broke off and got lost in the wall and we cut up our vinyl siding.

Posted .Hi there, I know it can be confusing navigating the various different Doorbell models available. The Video Doorbell Wired is hardwired and requires an existing doorbell circuit for power. I'm glad to hear you were able to exchange this for one of our Battery Video Doorbells, which don't require an existing doorbell circuit. Set-up is quick & easy.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to audio. We are happy to share some tips with you to help you troubleshoot why your Ring device may be experiencing warped sound or no audio. Make sure the external volume is up on your mobile device (on the device where you're viewing your Ring videos or "Live View"). If your phone or tablet has poor service or internet, it could be affecting "Live View" or your video downloads. Try turning Bluetooth off, then open "Live View" or view a recorded Ring video.
Poor wifi can often cause Ring device issues, including capturing audio. We recommend following these steps in the Ring app: Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices. Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap "Device Health." Under the "Network" section, you'll see your device's "Signal Strength." If your "Signal Strength" (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi. Try moving your wifi router closer to your Ring device. Open "Live View" in the Ring app and see if your Ring device's microphone is enabled. Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap the "Live View" button. Check to make sure the microphone icon is enabled. You can also press the green phone icon. If you have a Ring Home subscription, you can view the recording to see what the audio sounds like.
Check your audio privacy settings You may have your audio settings turned off for privacy reasons. Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap the "Device Settings" tile. Tap "Privacy Settings." Make sure "Audio Streaming" and "Recording" is enabled. Reboot your Ring Video Doorbell Wired by following these steps: Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap the "Device Settings" tile. Tap "Device Health." Scroll down and tap "Reboot This Device." Wait a few minutes for your device to reboot.

I put one Chime inside of my house and another one in my garage so I can hear the door bell from outside

Easy peace of mind

It was an easy installation and works perfectly.

Hardware installation was pretty straightforward except that I had to use some spare outdoor trim to create an "L" trim piece to cover the wires from the old ringer to the Ring Camera in order to mount it on the edge of the brick wall the door frames attached to -- because the dollar is set back into the brickwork by 2.5 inches. The software took a couple of tries to set up. The UCP code image would not connect to the correct web address so I just typed things in myself and hunted down the APP on the Android Apps tool. The only reason I did not give it a Five Star is that it doesn't appear that I can access the App when I'm outside of the home internet network. It doesn't or won't use my phone's data plan to access the internet and thus my Ring Door camera. That was something I wanted this thing to do -- otherwise --- pretty neat.
