Not worth the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn’t realize this was a downgrade from the existing ring that I have. You have to pay extra if you want to record video. No other functionalities available. I should have just re-purchased the one I had. Don’t bother getting this one - it does the bare minimum.

Ring a Lot
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe this product is excellent for its intended purpose, to wit: seeing who is walking up your driveway and approaching your front door. I believe it is a little less effective re: other motions it detects, as it appears to be very sensitive and sometimes the wind will set it off. Also, eventhough I have not activated the "neighbors" function, I still get notified everytime anyone thinks they heard a noise.

Ring
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring is great. However, not so good if your wifi is not good because of a bad internet. Would not recommend this if you live in an area that does not have fiber optics as your internet. Booste/extender do not work either to reach this Ring doorbell. So, when you ask if i would recommend, it depends on what kind of service you have and where you live.

Fair warning for Ring on old house/busy street
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this installed yesterday by an electrician. Fair warning for those going with the wired model - if you have an old house, you may need to replace your transformer, or else you will not have enough voltage going to your doorbell wire. So far the doorbell is working well, though if you live on a busy street, you'll need to turn off notifications for motion sensing - we were getting like one a minute.

Posted .Hi Megan.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Video Doorbell Wired to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure that your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. With Ring Video Doorbell Wired, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.
We are happy to share some tips with you to help you troubleshoot why your Ring device may be experiencing issues with video quality. Poor wifi signal strength can often cause video quality issues for Ring devices. We recommend following these steps in the Ring app to check your device's signal strength: Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices. Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap "Device Health." Under the "Network" section, you'll see your device's "Signal Strength." If your "Signal Strength" (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi. Try moving your wifi router closer to your Ring device. Reboot your Ring doorbell by following these steps: Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your doorbell. Tap the "Device Settings" tile. Tap "Device Health." Scroll down and tap "Reboot This Device." Wait a few minutes for your device to reboot.
Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Here are some examples of video quality issues:
Overexposed, washed-out videos: Washed-out videos may be due to overexposure to sunlight.
Poor wifi signal strength: A decline in wifi signal strength may be caused by a weak connection between the router and your Ring device.
Traveling signal strength: This may be due to a wifi dead zone in your home where you lose signal strength between the router and your Ring device.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
Footage is crisp and clear: If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
Footage is heavily pixelated: If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
Severe pauses in live video: If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
Long delay before your video starts: This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on, Then see if there's any difference when it's back on line.
While there are no video settings that allow you to change exposure to sunlight, there are other ways you can fix overexposed, washed-out videos. Using a wedge kit or corner kit can change the angle of the doorbell. There are many different corner kits and wedge kits, so make sure you get one that is compatible with your particular model of doorbell.
We invite you to reach out to our community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another by sharing their feedback and experiences with each other.
Thank you,
Melissa from Ring.

Good, reliable doorbell.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took some work, but I got this connected and working. I have a home with an old NuTone intercom system, so the power coming from the door intercom wasn't enough. Took me messing with the relay on the home unit to get enough power to the doorbell, but I eventually got it. The chime doesn't seem to be that loud, but with the integration to Amazon Dots, we get enough sound.

Posted .Hi BigMc.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Video Doorbell Wired online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
Your Ring device may be too far from your WiFi router.
Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router.
Check your mobile device's signal. If your mobile device has one or two bars, this could be causing issues accessing your Ring device. For best results, make sure you're connected to wifi from wherever you are.
Most internet service providers range from 100–400 mbps (megabytes per second) for download speed and 10–100 mbps for uploading. If your wifi speed is falling below the ranges noted above, we recommend contacting your internet service provider.

Easy install, but check your transformer first
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my failed first install, I was quite fed up with Rings customer service. But after lots of research I finally got the doorbell to work. Just a caution to anyone else who is interested in the wired doorbell. Check to see if your transformer will push out enough power to this doorbell. I had to change out my old transformer to a stronger one. This did the trick.

It works, not the best, not the worst.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is wired power only, yes you have to have a subscription for it to record, yes blink is an amazon company. That should answer most questions people asked, besides that it works fine and does what it says. Any other pertinent info is in the specifications tab.

Posted .Hi dcoop. Having all of the relevant information available to you before purchasing a smart home device is definitely important. Several Ring Doorbells are battery powered and do not require any in-home wiring, which may work better than the Video Doorbell Wired. You can find a product comparison of all the Video Doorbell models here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004668746-Ring-Video-Doorbells-Product-Comparison. I hope this helps.
