Because I found my original one. Why buy something new when the other one? Aint broken. Is a good wise man. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.In other words, don't buy it.If you already have one but I can't say I do love my ring.I don't know how anyone goes on in life without one

In my case I had originally 11 VAC and the Ring doorbell will never go into the configuration stage. Also make sure that you purchase the combo doorbell and chime package as this doorbell is not compatible with the original chime in your home. Last in order to save videos and reviewed them later you need to pay $4.99 a month for the cheapest subscription since the doorbell doesn’t have any local storage and needs to store the videos in the Ring cloud.

It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the voltage requirements. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired requires a hardwired transformer rated at 10 to 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, with a power output between 8 VA and 40 VA. This information can be found on Ring’s official support page. For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the range specified above or compatible Ring accessories to power your device.
The Ring Home Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. Without a Ring Home Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Had to purchase a basic plan which records all activity/motions. I'm not sure if chime is doing any work for me but I get all the notfications on my phone. The qualify of the video is nice too. Recommend.

It's great to know when our company arrives and we can send a message when we can't come to the door. Even our cat loves it. Our cat goes to the door when the motion sensor rings. Had to shrink my target range a bit as it was setting off notifications for way too many bits of movement but that's a good thing. The 30 days of free "Ring Protect" was enough to hook me on it. Purchased the basic plan outright for the year instead of monthly and it saved me a few bucks. Will definately get a few more devices for the house as part of a DIY security program.

The purchase comes with a "trial period" for capturing and reviewing video clips. If you don't subscribe after the trial, you can still get LIVE views, but you can't look back at earlier camera activation. A 1-year subscription was $39.99 per Ring device ($0.1095 per day). According to Ring, starting March 11, 2024, that price will increase to $49.99 per Ring device.
