      Hi doesntwork,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process, as this allows you to start using your Ring Doorbell Wired right away. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.

As you have mentioned you do not feel this is wifi related, we will first want to address the physical environment in which your doorbell is mounted. The Ring Doorbell Wired must be hardwired to a transformer with 10-24 VAC, 20-40VA max, and 50/60Hz. Once you have verified your environment is conducive to supporting the doorbell, we will next want to check the signal strength at the physical mounting location of your doorbell.

It is important to remember that the internet speed coming to your house is not the same as the wireless connection around your house, and that many factors can cause issues with wireless performance. These can be things such as obstacles in the way of the signal (big metal objects, big thick walls, double glazing, fridges, microwaves and other devices), the position of your wireless router, or interference from neighboring networks called ‘channel interference’. In instances where the wifi connection is weak at certain points, you may want to consider adding a wifi extender, such as the Chime Pro, or implementing a mesh network.

For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/. (https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000118523-Connecting-a-New-Ring-Product-to-Chime-Pro)We look forward to hearing from you soon!

      Hello 7172021,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We believe that transparency is key in order to make informed purchasing decisions. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a wired-only doorbell and connects to your existing doorbell wiring for non-stop power. During the installation of this doorbell, you will be instructed to bypass the existing doorbell chime in your home. This means that after installation, your home doorbell system will not sound when the device’s button is pressed. If you wish to hear audio alerts in your home, you can pair your Video Doorbell Wired with a Ring Chime or compatible Alexa device.

If you still have the Ring device in your possession, we invite you to reach out to us at https://community.ring.com/. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback/experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you, if we can be of any further assistance!

      Thank you,
      Antonio from Ring Ring

      Hello 123shaunybrown,

Thank you so much for reaching out regarding getting your Ring Video Doorbell Wired to work properly with your home’s existing doorbell wiring. The Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. Using Ring’s most affordable doorbell, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real-time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device. With Video Doorbell Wired, you’ll always be connected to your home, so you can watch over your property and answer the door from anywhere.
This device must be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer with 10-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz for continuous charging. The Jumper Cable bypasses and disables your existing doorbell chime and must be installed before you install your Ring Doorbell. Can you confirm you’ve installed this included piece? Here are step-by-step instructions for physically installing your unit: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360054984332-Installing-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Wired. You’ll be working with electrical wires during the installation process. If you are uncomfortable or inexperienced in doing so, we recommend you consult with a qualified electrician.

It is a great product, however, the one I purchase do not allow you to use your regular door bell. Also the features only work for a limied time. The ring want you to purchase a monthly plan to get all of the features such as viewing who has been at your door, or person mofion. It not worth spending more money, if you dont have too.

      Hello Mickey,

Thank you for leaving a review. We understand how important it is to have your internal chime working properly, as it is used to notify you when someone is at the door. Rest assured that we are here to ensure that we can find a resolution for you today.

The Ring Doorbell Wired uses an included jumper cable to bypass your home’s internal chime kit, so it will not ring inside. If you’d like audio notifications inside your home, you’ll need to purchase a Ring Chime to hear them.

Also, Ring gives a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After 30 days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real-time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio features. You are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. Please see the following link for more information regarding the Ring Protect Plan and the benefits it offers: https://ring.com/protect-plans?undefined.

Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences with Ring. Hello ETdesign,

Thank you for taking the time to share your wifi connectivity concerns with us. We understand the importance of using your new Orbi mesh system, as this allows you to better the connection to your Ring Video Doorbell - Wired. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.

If you haven't already, try relocating one of your Orbi access points to different areas of the house. This will help determine if the issue is distance or interference related. You should try a new set up attempt each time you move the Orbi access point.

Please bear in mind that your Ring Video Doorbell - Wired is only compatible with 2.4 GHz networks. As best practice, you can set your Orbi mesh system to channel 6 for 2.4 GHz wifi networks.

You can also disable the WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) setting on your Orbi mesh network, which tends to help wifi enabled cameras to perform as intended.

Reboot the Orbi and wait for a good 5-10 minutes for your router to "settle" itself and for your access points (if any) to sync back to the router.

We would love to know if this resolves your concern, and ask that you share your experience with us on our Ring Community forum, here: https://community.ring.com/.

      Best regards,
      Marlom at Ring Ring

      Hello Adel,

Thank you for sharing your user experience with us. Here at Ring, we fully understand the importance of having the motion detection work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only the areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of "false positive" motion alerts. For more information on adjusting your motion settings to better fit your needs, please see our help center article titled: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041248971-Using-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

If you still have concerns regarding your Ring Video Doorbell motion detection, we would love to hear from you directly on our Ring Community forum. Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that you have the best possible experience with your products and services. Home security is a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week business, and Ring knows the importance of having access to your devices at the times you need them most. Hi Elijah,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. What you describe isn't what we want you to encounter and can assure you that we are here to help. You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that Ring [device] is designed to add to your home security. We completely understand the relevance of having your device online and connect to your wifi network, as this ensures you can access the camera to check on activity around your home anytime day or night.

Although they are rare, disconnects can occur and can usually be traced back to nearby interference or underlying network issues. Both of which are easily resolved with a few changes. A common solution to most network related problems is creating a guest network. You could then pair the Ring Doorbell Wired to the guest network to ensure the device remains online. Another thing to consider is wifi interference caused by a nearby object or material. Things such as brick, metal, stucco etc. can diminish a wifi signal as it reaches your camera.

From our Help Center, you can find more useful information regarding what to do when your device is continuously falling offline, such is outlined in this article: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023559372-Fixing-Your-Devices-Falling-Offline-Repeatedly-by-Adjusting-Your-Router.

We would love to know if this resolves your concern, and ask that you share your experience with us on our Ring Community forum, here: https://community.ring.com/.
