My girls are always ordering things online plus my wife wanted to add a bit of security to the house since our neighborhood is on the rise. Install took some time b/c I had to drill brick but it works great and looks good. Easy to get up and running with the app too. Not much but it’s a little peace of mind.

I wanted a door bell device that I could sync with my phone. It worked better than I expected! It does all the great things it advertises, lets you see who is at your door, even alerts you to movement! I am able to talk to my wife when she comes home and visa versa. Excellent product, easy to install. A must have for an automated home.

The Ring Video Doorbell is super easy to set-up and install, and so far is working well. We are still playing with the sensitivity to avoid getting alerts every time someone walks by. It’s nice to see what’s happening at the front door, though, especially during the holidays, when packages are delivered.

Video quality is better than expected for a 720 HD camera, very easy to install and works well with both smartphone and windows 10-pc. Motion control zones can be adjusted easily within application. Highly recommend this video doorbell for security and convenience.

Authentic metal finish, clear mounting instructions and setup process quite simple. This is really a well thought out product and performs very well in both security (simple motion activation alerting can be set and set to record), night and low light conditions work well, and even if Im away, I can see and speak to whomever is at the door. Only cons are: its a little on the wide side to pack the technology into, wider than my furring strip on the door, so it bumps against the stone. Other thing, I despise renewing monthly subscription charges, so if you want access to your recordings youre going to pay 30-36$ for the rest of your life.

I read numerous positive reviews about the product, though was still skeptical due to a few negative reviews. But since my wife insisted on the product as a Christmas gift, (for her), the only review that really mattered was hers, so she received a Ring Video Doorbell for Christmas. Very nice packaging with everything needed for installation including drill bit, anchors, mini level, screwdriver with two-way bit for both the anchor screws and the torx-head screws used to securely attach the unit to the back plate. Also included is a special diode for wiring into an existing digital doorbell system vs. the conventional 18~24 volt bell ringing mechanical variety. (The latter is a straightforward hookup not needing the diode.) Installation is as easy as it gets. Included directions are concise and easy to follow.. An online version is also available along with a Q&A section for additional information and assistance. Setup is a breeze. The app is clean. Features are sensible and intuitive to use. Their cloud storage of events (if desired) is the best value out there at $30/yr. with a free 30 day trial when you buy the unit. The video quality is quite good even at 720p. The zoom and pan feature is convenient and maintains decent video quality until going to extremes. Live View is very good quality with a consistently high frame rate and smooth motion given a reasonably capable home wifi system. It does, however, require the hardwired installation to become available as an active option. The only perceived negative is the inherent latency between a motion detected event and receiving the actual notification of the event as it makes the trip through the home wifi network, through the Internet or cellular network, and back to a phone, tablet, or computer, (or all three) again. While naturally unavoidable due to the technology itself, the delay can be significantly reduced by ensuring a sound and fast home wifi setup. All in all my wife was very happy and I was also quite surprised by the performance and quality of the product. A great value and highly recommended for anyone wanting to keep closer tabs on their home along with having the interactive ability to remotely see and communicate with someone at your door when you aren't there. Thumbs up from our household for the Ring Video Doorbell.

When it works it’s great. Technology might always work the way we like but it’s a cool idea and for $99 can’t go wrong. Installing was easy only wish you can shut off white round light at dark. Keeps honest people honest and don’t have be home to answer the door.

I absolutely would recommend this. Had it installed and went on vacation . Any packages that were delivered I get notified by the Ring and I can make arrangements for someone to take care of them. It's a great deal for anytime of the year. Lets me know whose at my house when I'm not home.

The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because of the lag time it took to show the outside. The doorbell was easy to install and took less then 20 minutes. I haven't figured out how to control the motion yet, it picks up on every car going by.

    Better than Arlo

I like the 2 way audio that arlo doesn't provide. Saved our food delivery that beat us home one day. But I do not like the round hole view at all. Night vision on a persons face whites it out totally - maybe need to play with it a bit more.. With arlo, multiple people can bring up the live view while the ring only allows one person at a time to view live. Also, only the first person to answer the doorbell can take part in viewing and or speaking in real time. Other family that wants see who is at the door get booted if they attempt to "go live" at that time. So if multiple people need to view events as they occur from their own devices, then go with arlo. If you like having the option of an intercom and doorbell go with ring. It is also worth noting that, while most arlo models now have re chargeable battery options, ring can be USB charged from go which was a pretty big plus.

Great addition to our home security. So easy to install and operate. Was hesitate about the video being 720, but no worries. Excellent video quality. Hope I never have to use the post to Facebook option, but it has this easy function. Caught a great $99.00 deal at Best Buy. Thank-you.

The doorbell came with all the necessary tools and instructions to install. Setup was simple and I was online within 10 minutes. I replaced an existing wired doorbell, so I had a power source to make this a hardwired doorbell, not just battery operated. The only problem I encountered was after installation the doorbell did not 'see' the hardwire connection and was running on battery. A quick call to Ring tech support resolved the issue. Apparently I had tightened the two wire screws a bit too tight, and with a slight turn to loosen them the doorbell saw the hardwire connection. After installation a bit of tweaking on the motion sensor (optional on or off choice in the menu) got me dialed in with the alert range I wanted. Very happy with the performance so far.

Very easy to install. Great picture quality in the day and night. Speaker and sound work great. A little slow sometimes, but overall love my new doorbell. Make sure you put the range that you want on the doorbell. If you choose a far range you'll get the cars passing on your street.

Installation was fairly easy and just wires right in never needs batteries. It alerts my phone wether there is someone at the door or the doorbell is pressed and i can answer anywhere. Great quality video and audio. Sometimes my plants moving when it's really windy sets it off but not enough to bother me.

I’ve been waiting for a good sale on the Ring Video Doorbell for a while and couldn’t pass it up for $99. I got it home and hardwired it and that’s when my issue began. It would not recognize that it was hardwired. It only ran off of the battery. I called customer service and they helped trouble shoot but nothing worked. Then I received an email from someone else offering to help and she worked with me personally to get things fixed. She sent a new backplate, which didn’t work, then a Chime Pro to help increase the range, also didn’t work. Finally, she sent me a Ring Video Doorbell 2 at no charge and it does work perfectly with eliminating the backplate altogether. I just have to send them the original RVD and they paid for posting. So, maybe my review should be for the RVD 2, but the RVD did work just not for what I needed and how it was installed. The RVD 2 does. Regardless, the customer service was mind blowing and is what kept me from returning it.

This doorbell has been amazing so far At first I was a bit upset about it not coming with the chime. But what I ended up doing was linking everyone's phone within the household to the application which allows everyone's phone to ring when the Ring button is pressed. The camera is surprisingly clear day and night for a 720p camera. I know the Ring 2 and pro has better resolution but if you want to spend more for the better resolution be my guest. This has sufficed so far. And the night vision does the job just fine. Since having this door bell for the less than 2 weeks it has come in handy. The 2 way communication works great. I am happy with my purchase and also it makes me feel better about seeing who is at the door before answering. Heads up that it does only come with a 30 day trial of cloud storage but from what I have read, Ring's plans are relatively cheap. I am giving it 5 stars based on everything I have said and on the sale price I got it for.

This device is not effective for answering your door remotely unless the person hangs around. The delay between the doorbell press and notification/answering is too long. It does, however, capture video when motion is detected or the doorbell is activated. For this function, you will need to subscibe to Ring's video service ($30 per year). Installation was easy. In summary, I'm glad I bought this but I had to adjust my expectations.

I bought this to allow me to see who is at our front door from a loft. I had not anticipated using it for security. The first week I installed it I captured video of someone walking past our condo unit. I alerted someone from our building, because I was at work when the video came through my phone. Long story short, we were able to post the persons face and alert neighbors that he had stolen property from a neighbor and I was able to notify other Ring owners from the neighborhood. I would have given it five stars, but the saved videos get cumbersome when my wife and I come and go or neighbors pass by. I'd like to stop saving videos unless I click a save button or some other solution. Now, I have to delete 8 videos a day. It has a stop button in the app, but that is just as cumbersome to turn off and on every time someone walks in or out of the door.

This is great! I love the fact that you can see who is at your door before answering it. I work from home and as a woman don't want to answer to every person who comes to the door. You can also see when packages are delivered or ask the delivery person to leave it at another door. It's much more sensitive to motion on warm sunny days because it goes by heat. We face a street so we have it on the lowest motion setting because it used to pick up every car that went by. Other critique is that every so often it freezes when I "answer" so I can't always see who is at the door which defeats the purpose. Wondering if that's a bug in the app, wifi problem, or a problem with the actual unit.
