Great video resolution and audio

I believe it needs a compatible ring transformer for it to work.

It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.
To determine whether the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices that show higher resolution video need faster internet. Your Ring device will adjust video quality based on your internet speed. A minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended for Ring 2K devices. Video resolution may vary depending on internet bandwidth.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
Additionally, the Ring Wired Doorbell requires a standard doorbell system with a 12-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz doorbell transformer. If your existing transformer does not meet these specifications, it may cause the device to go offline or not function properly. Great camera Great price

Although I gave this camera 5 stars, Ring makes other doorbell cameras that are superior in my opinion. But for the price, you can't really beat this camera especially when you throw in the Ring app which is great and always getting better. This particular camera though does have a number of great things going for it. Video quality is very good and the 6x zoom gives you the ability to look closer at your subjects. Obviously, the further away your subject is, the grainer the picture will be. I have multiple Ring cameras around my house, so for me that isn't much of a worry. I can get anyone coming near my house with a clear picture. Live view, motion detection, color night view and two way talk all work very well. The two way talk though has room for improvement though, there is a bit of a lag. Speaking of which, this is why I prefer a wired doorbell over their battery powered. The alerts and response are noticeably faster with any of the Ring wired cameras. This is really important, especially when someone is at your front door. Installation is very easy and straightforward if you have an existing wired doorbell. Can be tough if you need to hardwire something but once you get the wire to the door, it's a couple of connections and you are ready to go. The Ring app is so easy to use so this is why 5 stars.
