I’ve had Ring devices in the past and have always been happy with them and recommend them. This new device is no exception. I chose the wired version so I don’t need to worry about batteries or anything with it, just install it and I’m good to go. Setup, with all Ring devices was straightforward and simple. You do not need to be very competent or handy in order to install this, it’s very easy and instructions are super clear. Once setup is complete and the device is powered on, it will update and then you’re good to go! You can update and customize the motion detection, when you want to be notified, the motion parameters, and even the zones. What stands out to me the most is the zoom feature, video resolution and the 2 way communication. It’s very clear and super handy when trying to see something far away and get the fine detail, or when speaking to someone through the doorbell. It’s super clear and doesn’t have any lag or anything. I highly recommend this to anyone as it’s the easiest “smart home” upgrade you can make.

This 2nd gen wired doorbell is amazing. The install was very easy and setup was flawless. With 2k video quality, everything is crystal clear. The audio is also very clear. Whether chatting with the person at the door, or reviewing the recordings, it doesn’t miss a thing. The doorbell is even smart enough to provide a description of what the video contains. Angled mounting brackets, either wedge or corner, are available. I needed a wedge adapter for a better view in my case. The back doesn't have a large area to tuck the wiring into, so plan on that for the installation. Night mode is also very good. It launches in black and white making it easy to identify who’s at the door. With customizable zones, it helps reduce false alerts. One item of note is that it will not ring an existing doorbell chime. If you don’t have a Ring Chime, you’ll need to plan on purchasing that as well. I didn’t mind that since the Ring Chime has so many available tones. I found this to be a worthwhile upgrade with the picture, audio and ease of use improvements.

Product only worked for two days with the ability to record and maintain footage. Now that I’m out of the grace period to return. I will need to pay for an electrician to re wire the doorbell in order to full usage.

The Ring Wired Doorbell Gen 2 has genuinely exceeded my expectations. The video quality is sharp, clear, and detailed, making it easy to see exactly what’s happening at my door. The night vision is just as impressive. Everything stays visible and crisp even in complete darkness, which gives me a lot of peace of mind. Setup was incredibly simple. I had it installed and running in just a few minutes, and the app walked me through every step without any confusion. For the price, this doorbell offers outstanding value. It feels like a premium product without the premium price tag. I’m really glad I chose this model. The neighborhood alerts are a great bonus and keep me aware of what’s going on around my home without feeling overwhelmed. Overall, it’s a reliable, easy to use doorbell that delivers exactly what I was hoping for and more. I do wish the door chime was included since I did need to purchase that for the entire solution to work. One other thing to note is the annual cost for the video playback and other functions. These are still among the lowest of what I was able to research for just a single doorbell camera but it does have a monthly or annual cost.

I'm a big fan of Ring doorbells - both the wired and wireless models are "must have" additions to your home so you can keep an eye on things whether you're home or away while the easy to use app and the notification / video storage options (some of which do require a separate paid subscription, yes) are solid ways to ensure you know what's going on outside your door / on your front porch. While the wireless options might be "easy" they also require charging of their batteries or running a seperate solar panel option to keep them going. If you have an existing wired doorbell though, THIS wired Ring is by far the easiest to install and then the easiest to live with. It draws power directly from your existing low power doorbell system and charges an internal battery so that it has enough power to activate appropriately (a prior wired Ring I installed needed a separate battery that had to be installed in the chime for that to work - no longer needed here!). So all you do is take off your current doorbell, screw in the included mounting plate, attach a couple of easy to identify wires and mount the Ring to the plate. Complete the setup in the app and you're done. No more batteries to charge and no separate power source to attach, just great Ring goodness. And there's a lot of goodness where with a 2K wide angle camera that captures everything going on in crystal clarity to the solid 2-way audio that lets you talk with people at your door from anywhere. As with prior models, this model seems to be well-made and like it will last a number of years, even out exposed to the elements. So if you could use a new, wired doorbell or could use a bit more security at your door (perhaps to watch over those package deliveries) this is a great option (IF you have an existing wired doorbell to replace). I decided it was time to replace my current ring doorbell. I wanted better images and video so I chose the newest model ring doorbell. We had a wired doorbell previously so we opted for wired again. The instructions were a bit of overkill since it starts from scratch. It would be nice if there was an option for specific instructions for upgrading. We only needed about a forth of what they make you walk through. We have the chime pro so that our WIFI signal reaches the floodlight camera on the garage. We chose that to connect to so setup was very easy once the additional hole was drilled into the brick. We were able to use one of the previous holes but since the frame from the old one doesn't match the new one, we had to drill one to get the new frame to fit. Once physically installed, setup with the QR code was easy enough. Like I said we used our chime pro for the wireless connection. The video and imaging are much more crisp and clear from the previous model. Sound through the app to the speaker and mic is very clear. Another thing: we had to wedge a piece of wood above the previous model because the camera aimed too high upward and even though we bought an OEM special part to help it angle better, it didn't work. We used a large wood shim to aim it down. This model didn't need any help. The field of view is wider and much better than the older model. The app is familiar and I have no issues with any of it. I am happy with the upgrade.

I installed and hooked up my new wired doorbell a couple weeks ago; the whole thing went smoothly – replacing an existing wired doorbell was easy and the instructions provided were clear! Getting it set up in the app took just a few minutes. The quality of video is also impressive; when viewed at 2K resolution, the picture is very clear both day and night, so I can easily identify people who come to visit, and also track any deliveries that occur. The wide angle view is very helpful since it allows me to monitor a large portion of my front porch area without needing multiple cameras. The enhanced zoom has also come in handy when I wanted to view something closer to the door. Two way audio works well and have able to communicate clearly with visitors. There’s maybe a little bit of a delay once in a while, but this delay does not affect my normal use of the doorbell. Motion alerts are sent on time and are usually accurate; every so often I’ll get a notification about a vehicle passing by. The app is very user friendly and reviewing recorded events is easy. The doorbell has not dropped and disconnected from WiFi, nor has it needed any type of troubleshooting. The functionality of this device is as expected and the combination of video quality, motion detection, and communication features are going well for my home security system. I have already found this new device to be an essential part of my home security system, and I am satisfied with how well it works.

I have been a huge fan of the ring doorbells since they first came out. So nice to have actual proof when things are delivered, recordings of possible porch bandits, etc. One of my favorite features of these doorbells is the two-way talk opportunity. This is fantastic for if you are late getting home or are in the shower, and an appointment arrives. You can let them know that you are on your way, and avoid having to reschedule. The retinal vision 2K camera technology provides almost cinema graphic quality video. Gone are the days of being unsure of who you are seeing on the live feed from your doorbell. If you are willing to spring for the subscription, being able to save and share videos is another great option, both for when you catch something funny happening on the porch, or if you have footage of a crime. The installation takes less than 15 minutes, even faster if you have already installed a ring or even other company's video doorbelsl before. This is a purchase or a gift that you will not regret. Giving the gift of peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

The Ring Wired Doorbell (newest model) is a replacement for an older model Ring doorbell I already had installed at my house. There are a ton of different options on the market, many coming with the various security systems. Over the years, we settled into Ring and have not looked back. It integrates well into the system we have in the house, to include our security system.  To start, it has a solid 2K camera. It gives great images of whoever steps in front of it. Whether that be a delivery person, or making sure your kid gets home safe. The camera and notifications pop up seamlessly through the app (which is super easy to use). If you have Alexa devices in your home, it works with them as well.  Now they do have a battery and wired version. This of course is the wired version. I would not choose the battery, and I am speaking from experience. With the wired version, it has constant power. You don't need to worry about changing a battery and it is constantly on. No problems and no need to worry about it going down while you are away. With the battery, you have to change it out as it gets low, and you cannot forget while you are away. Having the wired version just takes the worry out of things and it is super easy to wire it up yourself. If I can do it, you can! Lastly, one of the underrated features of the doorbell is your ability to communicate with the party at your door. If you don't want to answer the door? You don't. I personally have the "no solicitation" sign on my door, but I guess that doesn't mean anything to the pest control teenagers trying to sell you on their product being the best in the country....Anyway, you can talk right through the doorbell and not even come to the door.  There are some things I noticed in the upgrade between my current doorbell and this new one. The main thing is the quality of the resolution. I can see better and the digital zoom is significantly better than on the older model I have. For that I am impressed and happy for the upgrade. If you want to use this on a security system, I would check compatibility before getting it. But know this works as a stand-alone product as well. Meaning, you don't need an entire system to use a Ring doorbell. It can work alone and you can use the app just the same.  I highly recommend this doorbell to anyone that needs a video doorbell and wants one from a company the leads the way. It works well in the Ring ecosystem or on its own. And I personally think they are the best doorbells having tried two others. You can't go wrong with this product, and the price is very reasonable. This is a good little doorbell with very basic functionality if you don't want to pay a monthly subscription. Set-up is fairly straight forward and the accompanying app walks you through the software side of things. There are some instructions for the wiring, but with a doorbell, you actually don't have to worry about which wire connects to which terminal. Just connect one to each terminal, and it'll work. Without the subscription, you can get notifications of activity, live-monitor your front door, and talk to someone through it. If you pay the subscription fee, you can also get cloud storage of recordings of the events. A couple of notes: 1) if you recently moved in to a home that already has a smart doorbell that you're replacing, take off the old one before buying this. You may be like me and remove that doorbell just to find that the wires have been hidden with the new siding the previous owners installed... and 2) there are options out there that can store the videos without requiring a subscription. I ended up going with one from Eufy.

Packaging was easy and straight forward to understand. Installation was a breeze. Used the existing doorbell wiring. Started with shutting off the power to the old doorbell, removing the old door bell (testing for power before ever touching the wires, and following the instructions to install the Ring. Overall start to finish took about a hour. Make sure you have good WiFi coverage to your door before installing. Once installed, it took a few minutes to power up and setup through the app. The app was intuitive and settings made sense. Some tinking around and I was able to setup zones, and a few other features that were nice to have. Pricing on the cloud storage of recordings was reasonable and clear as to what you were getting. Installed app on a few different devices and worked with well with all (iOS, iPadOS, Android). Overall easy setup, hardware is solid, picture quality is nice. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid front door camera and wants a clean software setup on the phones

As a user of previous generations of wired Ring door bells, I was expecting great video quality and this 2K model not only delivered it but it has made it even better. The video quality is noticeably better than the previous 1080p with zero pixilation during daylight time and considerably less when using night vision. I also noticed better motion fluidity. People and things don't look like stop motion movies, and the wide angle finally covered my whole porch. The 6x zoom seems to be digital, but the 2K resolution still allows for good quality with low grainy images. Because it's wired, you don't run much of a risk of not having video when you need the most. I wish it had a backup battery, especially because many people like myself, have their internet routers backed up by battery in case of power outages, but for the price, I wouldn't expect that. The two-way talk feature is still problematic sometimes due to its lag. It usually has a bigger delay than the doorbell of another big brand that I used to have. That's a bit frustrating! Another complaint is the subscription and its different tiers, but it is hard to find non-subscription doorbells nowadays. When you do, you usually need an SD card or a locally stored security system. There are down sides to those as well. Overall, I like it. It is one of the best brands and definitely the most popular.

I’ve been using Ring home security for several years now. The doorbell camera is a staple for home security and it’s been a convenient and must have tool. I was excited to see a 2k version along with all the features that come with the newer version. Jumping straight into why I love Ring and excited about the new 2nd generation doorbell. First is the 2K upgraded camera. Ring already does great with detecting activity in front of my home, but with the enhanced 2k camera, you get additional smart notifications such as vehicle color and descriptive footnotes about what the clip is describing. For example, you may get “A blue vehicle is in the driveway” and for me that would indicate my wife is probably home. Alternatively, if you’re expecting someone, these descriptions would be helpful to let you know someone has arrived. I love how you can adjust the type of notifications you get, including package detection zone, which will detect packages and deliver special notifications to alert you. Because I live in an active neighborhood, I do get a lot of notifications about random cars or people walking down the sidewalk. You can turn on smart features such as only get notified if there’s unusual activity. This will get the doorbell to monitor normal activity and reduce your notifications to only unusual motion, such as someone in your yard or porch vs just walking down the sidewalk. As for the app, you can adjust a ton of settings and customizations to ensure it works the way you want it to. I don’t usually entertain uninvited guests, so as soon as the doorbell button is pressed, it plays a quick reply. You can choose to delay this several seconds, or turn off all together. You can also choose what kind of reply, whether it’s a leave a message reply, or a “We’ll be right there” message. You can also choose the length of time to grab snapshots or how long after a detection you want to record. There’s also a device health screen where you get feedback on wifi signal strength, change network, or check power output. If you already have a wired doorbell camera, or doorbell, installation will be easy. Ring has descriptive and helpful tutorial videos and includes needed mounting hardware and jumper wire. Since I already had a wired ring camera, my installation was a bit more streamlined. I did have a corner mount with my old Ring Doorbell that does not fit the newer generation doorbell. I did go ahead and order one and it fits perfectly. I did try with the older one and it was not happening. I almost forgot to mention the two way chat feature. I’ve used this several times to talk with a delivery person or someone stopping by the house looking for me. It’s very helpful if you want to see what the person at the door wants before opening, screen solicitors, let delivery people know where you would like your packages placed. I’ve even had FedEx sign for me as long as I allowed them to leave in the garage, all coordinated through the two-way communication on the ring doorbell. Ring has been a great product for me, I’ve even convinced my sister to get into the Ring ecosystem and she’s been very satisfied as well. For me knowing what’s going on outside my home provides peace of mind that is hard to quantify. I even have a few videos of my mother hanging out with me on the front porch I was able to save as she is no longer with us. A memory that is precious and priceless.
