I especially like the ability to adjust the scope of sensitivity to avoid constant alerts from folks walking on the street. This was a replacement for a four-year-old unit that failed.

I found that reading the on line instructions along with the provided instructions made it clearer. Part of the problem was watching an expert on you tube putting the back plate on wrong.

After multiple attempts and dealing with Ring technical support, and trying all of the troubleshooting techniques, still unable to reconnect. I was sent a replacement. The replacement was a refurbished device. I was able to connect the new device without issue. After several weeks this device went offline. Again, as with the first device, multiple attempts to reconnect and trying all of the troubleshooting suggestions, this second device would not reconnect. This time the device which is hard wired, will repeatedly makes an audible statement, Welcome to Ring, the device did not connect(abbreviated version of statement made by device. The quality of the video and audio when the device was working was good. The problem is it is not working.

The features and technology provided by the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus is not performing as expected. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus requires a doorbell transformer rated at 16-24 VAC 50/60HZ, 10-40VA max. Some symptoms of insufficient power include not correctly ringing your existing internal doorbell, regularly losing connection to your wifi network, freezing up or shutting down during the ringtone sound after a button press, regularly shutting off (the white light on the front will turn off), freezing up during a live event, night vision doesn't work, or the doorbell working fine for a couple of events and then stopping working.
Below are some things to check to ensure your device is installed and powered properly:
1. Check if your doorbell is wired correctly and ensure the Ring Pro Power Kit has been connected to your in-home chime kit.
2. Configure your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus to ring with an in-home chime within the Ring app.
3. Check whether your existing internal chime kit is compatible with Ring Wired Doorbell Plus.

Works like a charm. Can define the video area to capture- ignoring traffic- and put in “people” mode to not react to cars and delivery trucks but capture human visitors. Great features.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended in regards to alerts.
To enable and customize your doorbell "Ring Alerts" when someone presses your doorbell and "Motion Alerts" when your doorbell or camera detects motion, follow these steps in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app and tap the menu (☰) in the top left corner.
Tap "Devices," then select the relevant device.
At the top of the screen, you can toggle the following on or off:
Ring Alerts
Motion Detection
Motion Alerts
Motion Warning (if your device has the feature)
Tap the "Motion Settings" tile to customize settings such as:
"Motion Sensitivity."
"Smart Alerts" (available to Ring Protect subscribers) allows you to distinguish motion so you can know whether it's a person or something else like a car.
"Advanced Settings" (example: "Advanced Motion Detection," "Motion Schedules," and "Motion Frequency.")
