    Defected!!!!!

Ring had to replace it twice! I had installed many of the Doorbell Pro Smart but my last one was pain in the rear. It was defected right out of the box. The doorbell pro smart kept rebooting right after fishing the last step of the installation. Ring's technical support determined it was defected and sent me a replacement but it had the same issue with the replacement. 3rd times the charm! Overall it is a very good product.

      Hello Techteam,

We understand the importance of a quick and seamless setup process, as this ensures you can start using the device right away. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.

While not comprehensive, the three most common causes of failure to complete setup (after entering an incorrect password) are your Ring device being too far from your wifi router, having a problem with your internet connection, or some type of issue related to your wifi modem or router.

Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, the devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance. To reboot these devices, follow the instructions below:
-Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don't just turn it off)
-If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them
-Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in
-Wait for your internet to be restored
-Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process for your Ring Doorbell Pro.

We appreciate the value you have placed in owning a Ring Doorbell Pro and would love to offer our assistance to ensure the setup completes. Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, as we have some additional solutions we'd love to share with you.

      Thank you,
      Alexis with Ring Ring

HORRIBLE! I used to have the plain old RING, that worked great. I moved and had to get another one as it's been years ago. Nothing but trouble with this PRO. Do not waste your money. Response time horrible, sensitivity horrible, trouble shooting horrible. I have nothing good to say about this PRO ring.

    Improper Installation by BestBuy

The staff don't know how to install these devices properly. In order for it to function they also need to install a new transformer as recommended by Ring. Since they did it wrong I still had to pay an electrician to come back and do it right. BestBuy shouldn't install these if all they do is do wrong work.

      Hi ChidiN.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how important it is to have your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus capture all the correct motion events, and to be able to clearly see who is at your door. Consistent and dependable motion alerts are an essential feature for the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus to function properly. This is likely the reason you purchased this security device in the first place: to be alerted to people on your property. We want to work with you to make sure we get these features working as intended. We are confident we can resolve this together today.

It sounds like you have some concerns regarding the video quality and the motion detection you are experiencing with the device. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus offers advanced motion detection and 1080p video. Poor wifi signal strength or speeds from your router could be the culprit for your video problems. We recommend following these steps to check your wifi speeds:

Turn off your mobile phone’s cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap Devices.
      Select your device.
      Tap Device Health.
Under Tools tap Test Your Wifi.
Tap Start to run a test that will measure your upload and download speeds.
Both upload and download speeds should be at least 1 Mbps or greater, but 2 Mbps or above is ideal.
Check the numbers on your wifi speed test. If either your upload or download speed is below 1 Mbps, then you might consider replacing your router (especially if it's older than five years). Contact your internet service provider to learn more about getting newer equipment and faster speeds.

Visit our support center if additional information is needed.

Don’t bother getting a refurbished one. I spent about 12 hours connecting, unconnecting, and then reconnecting just trying to get it to work and it never did. After 2 hours on the line with customer service (which the problem wasn’t there fault) I just about had it. I returned the refurbished one and paid normal price for a brand new one. It’s working great. Don’t waste you’re time. Just invest in a brand new one to keep your home safe.

      Hello Samlovee23,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products and services. We understand the importance of having a seamless setup experience and how it can be concerning to see that the refurbished Ring Video Doorbell Pro will not set up accordingly.

Your Ring Pro requires a power source that supplies a minimum of 16 volts AC at ~20 volt-amps when connected directly to a transformer, plug-in adapter, or ~30 volt-amps when used with an internal doorbell. To check the voltage of your Ring Pro, open the Ring app, select your Ring Pro, and tap Device Health. For Ring Pro to function correctly, the voltage needs to be at least 3,700mV. If the voltage is below that number, device functionality will be impaired.

Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. You can find tips and tricks from other Ring users at https://community.ring.com/. Hi BrianC.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus functioning consistently and reliably so that you can effecively monitor your home. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are eager to address the issue you raised in your review and provide you with a resolution today.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus requires a doorbell transformer rated at 16-24 VAC 50/60HZ, 10-40VA max. We have included some information for you on how to troubleshoot the most common causes of insufficient power with your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus.

We have listed some symptoms of insufficient power here:
Regularly losing connection to your wifi network.
Freezing up or shutting down during the ringtone sound after a button press.
Regularly shutting off (the white light on the front will turn off).
Freezing up during a live event.
Not correctly ringing your existing internal doorbell.
      Night vision doesn't work.
Doorbell works fine for a couple of events and then stops working.

      How to troubleshoot insufficient power:
If your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus is hooked up to an internal doorbell chime, check if your Pro Power Kit is properly installed.
If you have an older version of the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus and are using it with an internal chime, check the cable installation of your Pro Power Kit.
The Pro Power Cable (with orange fastening clips) is no longer necessary with newer versions of the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus.

If you still have the device in your possession, we recommend reaching out to our Ring Customer Support team at: 1-800-656-1918. Our skilled agents are ready to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring. Please let us know how we can further assist you!
