The features and technology provided by the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus is not performing as expected. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus requires a doorbell transformer rated at 16-24 VAC 50/60HZ, 10-40VA max. Some symptoms of insufficient power include not correctly ringing your existing internal doorbell, regularly losing connection to your wifi network, freezing up or shutting down during the ringtone sound after a button press, regularly shutting off (the white light on the front will turn off), freezing up during a live event, night vision doesn't work, or the doorbell working fine for a couple of events and then stopping working.. If you're receiving a 'Setup did not complete' message and cannot finish setup, it could be due to one of these common causes of setup failures:

* Your Ring device is too far from your wifi router. Ideally, your router should be within 20 feet of your Ring device.
* There's a possible problem with your internet connection.
* There's a possible issue related to your wifi modem or router.

Make sure your wifi router is off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere or weaken your router’s wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location.
Make sure you're entering the correct password. Passwords are case sensitive and do not include spaces. Your network password can often be found on the bottom or side of your router.

Wifi passwords are case and special character (such as *,@,$, or #) sensitive. Double check letter capitalization and placement.
If you haven't changed your wifi password since your router was installed, it may be on a sticker on the underside of your router.
Connect other devices to your wifi network using your last remembered password to verify it is still correct.
If you have multiple networks or a wifi extender, confirm you are connecting to the correct one.
Make sure to connect to the 2G (2.4 GHz) network, not 5G (5 GHz). All Ring devices can connect to 2.4 GHz, while only select Ring devices have Dual-Band Wifi to be able to connect to either.
If you’re still having issues, try holding down the reset button on top of the camera for 20 seconds. Before you reset your device, make sure to download any videos in your account.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus was designed with a variety of advanced features. The Wired Doorbell Plus offers "Advanced Motion Detection," 1080p video, "Two-Way Talk" and "Quick Replies," "Color Night Vision," and "Alexa Greetings." With Ring’s advanced doorbell, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and see and speak to visitors at your door in real-time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.

To enable your in-home chime, please follow these steps in the Ring app: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰), then tap Devices. Tap on your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus. Tap Device Settings. Select In-Home Chime Settings. Tap the toggle to turn on or turn off your in-home doorbell chime. If the toggle is blue, the feature is turned on. If the toggle is white, the feature is turned off. Tap Save in the upper right to save your changes.

If your doorbell is functioning but you can’t hear your internal chime, there are several possible reasons. A Ring doorbell that’s hardwired should ring your internal doorbell if the following are true:
It has adequate power from the transformer.
It is wired properly.
It is set up in the Ring app and is connected to the appropriate chime type: mechanical chime has a traditional short ding-dong sound. A digital chime has a longer, more melodic sound.
It is using a compatible chime kit. For your safety, only use an existing doorbell transformer within the range specified below or compatible Ring accessories to power your device. For connecting to an existing doorbell system, use a hardwired transformer (16 to 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 10 VA to 40 VA).

Using incompatible power sources can damage your device and cause electric shock. To identify which type of doorbell chime you have, listen to the sound it makes.

A mechanical chime uses a physical bell and a mechanical hammer and makes a traditional ding-dong sound. A digital chime plays pre-recorded digital tones through an electronic speaker and often has a selection of different tones you can choose from. If you're unsure what type of doorbell chime you have, remove the front of your chime box and look inside for a bell and hammer or an electronic speaker.
