There’s no getting by this camera

The motion detection uses radar and literally detects anything within 30 feet! The satellite view and exact location represented by moving/fading dots is fantastic! I’ve not seen any other doorbell cam come close to the features and accuracy of this one.

Nice but incompatible

They try very hard to get you to subscribe to their cloud. But I'm already subscribed to lots of clouds and don't want another. Further, it turns out their software interface is proprietary. So it won't connect to Apple Home, or to Synology (I have a Synology server on my network). It's not compatible with any other clouds, though Ring probably uses Amazon's cloud (AWS) for their own storage... Otherwise, easy to instal on an old (1986) doorbell - so it's wired instead of running on batteries, and the old chime still works. I need this so my wife, who has mobility issues, can answer the door if I'm not around. Well talk to and see who's there. That works, except the interface for doing so is a little challenging for her from her phone. It's been occasionally "seeing" someone at the door in the middle of the night - nothing on the video, but once a cat. Maybe the wind moving the bushes?

Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concerns mentioned in your review.
It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the optional Ring Protect Plans. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for your Ring device. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. A Ring Protect Plan also gives you the ability to refine your motion alerts to distinguish between people and other motion using Smart Alerts.
Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.
For additional smart-home integration, Ring devices can be connected with compatible Alexa-enabled devices. We invite you to visit our support center for more information.

It was easy to install. We had to purchase a yearly plan separately from Ring to keep our footage on a cloud. It was affordable at $39. It's not mandatory for the camera to function. It was a great purchase that I'm glad we finally made.

I installed this product myself without any previous experience. I follow the app instructions . I am happy with the lmage quality as well and then ring gives you the option of paying $39 a year to be able to save the videos

The video quality is great. Note that when installing, you may need to upgrade your doorbell transformer to accommodate the energy usage. Without doing this, the doorbell continued to die and not have enough power to work well.
