Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a “false color” image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what’s happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to Night Vision. Ring Wired Doorbell Pro is a wired video doorbell that offers enhanced Head-to-Toe HD+ Video and other features such as Alexa Greetings (for Ring Protect subscribers), 3D Motion Detection, Audio+, and Bird's Eye View. Ring’s premium Wired Doorbell Pro allows you to check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and see or speak to visitors at your door in real-time using the Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.

To ensure that the Night Vision feature works as intended, make sure your Wired Doorbell Pro's infrared light is toggled on in the Ring app.The infrared light control is in your Ring app under Video Settings. To turn the Color Night Vision on or off, follow these instructions:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the Menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select the device you want to adjust.
Tap Device Settings.
Tap Video Settings.
Toggle Color Night Vision on or off.

Although rare, there have been instances where a Ring device can experience black, pink, and other distorted video quality like night vision video captured during daytime hours. Here are a few things to try.

Check your Ring device's signal strength.
If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection or video issues.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the Menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select the Ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the Device Health tile.
Scroll to Signal Strength under the Network section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good, red is poor.

Reboot your Ring Doorbell or Camera in the Ring app.

In order to reboot your Ring device, it must be connected to wifi.

Open the Ring app.
Tap the Menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select the Doorbell or Camera you wish to reboot.
Tap on the Device Health tile.
Scroll down to Reboot This Device.
Give your device a few moments to start back up.

In pursuit of our mission to make neighborhoods safer, when applying technologies to our business, we always consider our three pillars of customer security, privacy, and user control.

It sounds like you have concerns with Community Requests. Community Requests is a privacy-protected service that enables public safety agencies to put out public requests for help and efficiently and securely collect and manage digital evidence. Public safety agencies can post a request in the Neighbors feed asking community members within a specific area to share Ring video footage or information that may help their investigation. Videos customers choose to share in response to Community Requests go directly to Axon Evidence, a secure evidence management system where they can be verified for authenticity and integrity. This also creates a complete audit trail of how and when public safety agencies collect information. Participation is always voluntary, and public safety agencies can only see what you choose to share. Your Ring camera footage is not automatically shared with law enforcement. If you have set your Ring location within the geofence of the Community Request, then you will see a post in your Neighbors feed, which you can choose to respond to if you have relevant videos to share. Only videos that you explicitly select to share are sent to the requesting agency. Users can disable Community Requests in their app settings. Within your Neighbors Feed settings. Navigate to the Neighbors Feed → Feed Settings → Opt out of the Community Requests Post Category.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Extreme temperatures and other conditions may cause your Ring Video Doorbell to overheat. When this happens, you’ll see an error message in the Ring app that says: (Your Device) is trying to cool down. This helps keep your device safe and will result in temporarily reduced video quality. If the temperature continues to rise, your device will turn off automatically to prevent damage.

If you’re a Level Lock owner and your compatible Ring Wired Doorbell Pro or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro is trying to cool down, Amazon Sidewalk network may be turned off temporarily. As a result, your Level Lock may appear offline in the Ring app. If your Level Lock does appear offline in the Ring app due to overheating, simply wait until your Ring device returns to a normal operating temperature to access and control your lock through the Ring app. The lock itself remains fully operational during this time, and you can use the Level app to lock or unlock it if you're within Bluetooth range (about 30 feet). If you need further assistance, we recommend contacting Level.

An important factor in the Ring device’s battery life is whether it is wired to another source of power, such as an existing powered doorbell chime. In many parts of the world, winter brings cold, rain, sleet, snow, and sometimes extremely frigid temperatures. As a result, Ring doorbells or security cameras may have their performance affected by the cold.
