Regretful purchase

Would have to hire a electrician to locate the transormer in attic (ugh!) ... and install stronger one. Only rings at the device and not at my chime inside my house. Had to buy a Ring chime extender and it intermittently fails to ring due to transformer power being to low. Wished i kept my Doorbell 2.

It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information to help find a resolution as quickly as possible.
It sounds like your Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 is not receiving enough power. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 requires a compatible doorbell, a Ring plug-in adapter or transformer (not included), and the following voltages: 16–24 VAC or 24 VAC/24VDC, 10–40 VA max, and 50–60 Hz. No halogen or garden-lighting transformers.
In order to have the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 trigger your internal chime kit, it must be receiving enough power and your internal chime kit must be compatible. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is compatible with operating voltages ranging from 16 to 24 volts. In addition, both the Ring Chime and Ring Chime Pro are compatible with the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2.
Visit our support center for a list of mechanical and electronic doorbell chimes we have tested and confirmed are compatible with the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2.

Sound issue

Today is Jan 17, 2024 and now I cannot hear any sound when viewing playback of recorded events. The live view does have sound but when I watch recorded events like “person detected” on timeline, there is no sound AND images are glitchy / with ghosting of people etc. We have had some unusually cold weather over the past several days so MAYBE that’s the issue but I would hope it would work during cold weather. I’ve rebooted the doorbe & my iPhone. I’ve checked all the settings. … of course I’m just barely past time frame to be able to return it to Best Buy.

It sounds like your device is not functioning as expected. Poor wifi can often cause Ring device issues, including with recording or capturing audio or clear video. Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is grey, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI-" the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI -64".
If your device is showing weak signal strength, you can try moving your router to another location closer to your Ring device The ideal distance between a router and Ring device is under 20 feet.

Follow the instructions and hooked up as required. Notice the connection & video quality was a bit rubbish. Added a mesh system to my house to improve the quality. No signs of misuse.. continues to go “offline” and cannot reconnect until I restart router or reset breaker..

It sounds like you have concerns about your Ring device losing connection to the wifi. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro requires a doorbell transformer rated at 16–24 VAC, 50/60 HZ, and 30–40 VA max. If your Ring Wired Doorbell Pro is not receiving enough power, your device will not work as intended. Some symptoms of insufficient power include not correctly ringing your existing internal doorbell, regularly losing connection to your wifi network, freezing up or shutting down during the ringtone sound after a button press, regularly shutting off (the white light on the front will turn off), and freezing up during a live event.
Poor wifi connection can impact the overall performance of the device, including video quality. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. The Ring Chime Pro simply plugs into a wall outlet between your router and the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro to assist with the wifi signal strength to the device.

It sounds like the device is not operating as intended. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. Identify and troubleshoot what is causing connectivity issues for Ring devices to give you the best possible video and audio experience.
To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. Not User Friendly, Unnecessarily Complex Operation

This version fails to operate my doorbell, I’ve yet devoted time to troubleshoot why. The camera operates, however, I’ve yet to discover how to setup motion zones, the earlier version was much easier to setup, adjust and use. I do not recommend this product and will more than likely move to another product line and different manufacturer. Amazon , whom bought Ring a few years ago, have now over engineered this product and made it unnecessarily complex to setup and operate. The night vision performance is much worse than the camera version this replaces. Overall performance of this doorbell camera is terrible, integration with Amazon products is fine, unless you want to disable unwanted menu driven options. The Ring Doorbell Pro now falls into the mostly useless category for me now, I seriously doubt I will purchase any other Ring products.

It sounds like you have some concerns with setting up the different features of your device. If you have your Ring Wired Doorbell Pro hardwired to your home wiring and you can’t hear the doorbell inside, there are a few potential reasons. If you are confident in your device's wiring, the next thing you will want to check is that your internal chime kit is enabled in the Ring app. You can find this setting under "Device Settings" and then "In-Home Chime Settings." Here you will find the option to select your chime type and a toggle to enable your internal chime kit.
The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro offers 3D Motion Detection and Bird's Eye View. 3D Motion Detection uses radar technology to precisely identify where and when a motion event begins. The radar sensor measures the distance and angle of objects in front of the camera, allowing for more specific motion detection alerts. Bird's Eye View provides an aerial map view of motion events in front of your doorbell and clearly shows the path that visitors take when visiting your property. You can adjust both of these settings in the Ring app under "Motion Settings". Visit our support center for additional information.

Incompetent Shipping and Customer Support

Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
3. There are severe pauses in live video.
If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
4. There is a long delay before your video starts.
This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.
While there are no video settings that allow you to change exposure to sunlight, there are other ways you can fix overexposed, washed-out videos. Using a wedge kit or corner kit can change the angle of the doorbell. There are many different corner kits and wedge kits, so make sure you get one that is compatible with your particular model of doorbell.
