Fit, sound, connection, battery > it's all good!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used on a PC gaming rig. OK these are now my daily drivers. Turtle Beach does well with headphones, and these look nice, are easy to recharge, have excellent wireless connection, and are very comfortable for long sessions. Use of the RGB programmable lighting is a matter of personal preference, and there are enough variations available to allow individualized lighting. Construction seems very durable, and although this headset is remarkably light, it has plenty of metal (aluminum I think) so I’m not worried about weak spots that might give way. Fit is very nice. The headband fits evenly, with no pressure points, and the ear cups conform well with the memory foam, and more importantly they don’t heat up. The sound is truly “3D” and there is the “superhuman” hearing which can be used when needed and works well. The mic is “flip to mute” and can be detached although I always keep mine connected. Quality of the mic is as good or better than any other headset I have used – mic is 5x5. With all this said, the headset has a the finishing touch of a very very nice charging dock. The battery carries an “all day” (or “all night”) charge, so no problems there, but at the end of a session it is awful handy to pop the headphones into the charging dock to keep them ready to go for the next session. The dock does a “rapid charge” but haven’t needed to do a recharge to keep a gaming session going due to the good battery life. My priorities for headsets are comfort followed by sound quality. Good wireless performance has improved a lot, and this headset has no issues with connectivity for gaming and they also allow a Bluetooth connection to the phone – which really comes in handy from time to time.

Top of Class
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looking for a new headset that packs everything into one? Look no further because this headset has it all! I love gaming, especially FPS gaming. We as gamers want every edge we can when it comes to gaming- sound is a huge edge. This headset- The Turtle Beach Roccat Sun Max air brings all the features us gamers could want. Crystal Clear comms when the action is intense. Paired with 3D surround sound in its 50nm speakers. These features alone put it above the class of sound. Then toss in the wireless and RGB factors along with the superior build quality. Amazing. I tested this pair of headset while playing COD and BF. The action was intense so many sounds going off at once and my teammates could hear my call outs and I was able to hear them while also hearing the correct direction of fire. This was very helpful because I could pinpoint where the onscreen action was occurring. I wore them over 15 hours gaming and the comfort was like brand new, super soft no hard plastic pressing in top of head. Overall these are my new gaming headset.

Giving them a second chance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second pair. The first lasted a month and the microphone quit working. My son likes the comfort and fit as well as being wireless. They are very sleek looking so we were willing to try another pair. I had bought the extra warranty so we were able to get them replaced. The first set was shipped in a box so when it was opened the product package was in excellent shape with the product box still sealed. The second time around, they slapped a shipping label right on the product box. It took only 5 days to reach us, but looked like it had been in a tumbler for 2 weeks. The clear seal sticker had also been cut through so the product was easily open for anyone to have access to it. So far the replacement works as it should, and hopefully lasts longer than the month the first pair did. If not, we will have to try another brand.

Balanced audio. Lots of useful sound settings.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Comfortable cooling foam -Individual EQ for game, chat, and mic -A lot of audio settings to adjust sound -Bluetooth connection Con: -Charging dock connection is weak The headset is comfortable to wear with a nice cooling foam, but the clamping force can be a bit hard. It has a well balanced audio, made better with the bevy of adjustments within the Swarm app. The app, even though it has more installation steps than it should, has a lot of useful settings like audio boosting, spatial sound, and EQ settings. Battery life is okay at 15 hours. Overall a good headset after messing with the settings. The Hardware The headset is about medium weight with soft foam on the cups and band. It uses a cooling foam reducing heat build up on the ears. The clamping force is a bit harder, but still comfortable enough for longer sessions. It comes with a detachable flexible mic. The volume dials are loose and feel a bit cheap. There’s RGB on the outside corners. The base has an RGB ring with two lighting zones. It has two USB ports on the bottom for dual charging. The charging connector is a bit finicky, sometimes not charging. The magnet could be stronger as well. Audio The audio is mostly balanced and clear. Games can sound immersive, even without spatial audio turned on. By default it’s lacking in the bass, but because you can both boost the audio and adjust the EQ, it can sound even better. The mic sounds a bit hollow and hissy, but better after some EQ adjustment with Noise Gate turned on. The Swarm App The Swarm app didn’t give a good first impression with the installation. Once installed, another module for the headset needed to be installed, which then needed to be updated. A restart later, the firmware for the headset needed to be updated. The update requires both the charging base and headset to be plugged in, needing two free ports. Within sound settings, you can boost bass, tremble, dialogue, and chat. Boosting the bass up a bit made the audio much more to my liking. There’s settings for Spatial Audio and Superhuman hearing. Spatial audio can make it sound like surround sound, but can also make it sound hollow and processed. Superhuman hearing can boost footsteps and gunfire, but it sounded more like it just boosted all the low frequencies so everything was louder. The mic settings have a noise gate, but it’s more of a noise suppression. It will reduce background noise like fans and hissing, but it won’t gate noise for keyboard clicks and such. It’s still a useful setting. In addition to the sound settings, there’s also individual EQ for game, chat, and mic audio. This is useful since you can EQ your mic and have it sound good in all other applications rather than, for example, having it adjusted only in OBS. The mic monitor, however, is before the EQ is applied so you won’t hear the effects. There’s also settings for the RGB for the base and headset. Battery Life The battery will last about 15 hours. There’s a few options for charging, either using the base or plugging the headset directly. The base can be both plugged into a PC USB port and directly to an external power so it can be used to charge without having the PC powered on.

Convenience of wireless with solid sound quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My computer nook that doubles as my home work space is in an odd corner, so space is limited. I’ve been trying to streamline and maximize my space to make it at least viable for work and gaming on my pc. I initially had a wired set of headphones with active cooling in the cups, which worked great. The downside is the cable was short so it left a mess of tangles with my other dongles and cables. I upgraded to the Roccat, and it’s been so convenient. The Roccat Syn Max Air comes with a magnetic stand that also serves as the wireless receiver and charging stand for the headphones. One thing I noticed and have come to appreciate greatly is that the cups have memory foam for cushioning. The memory foam doesn’t crush my glasses against my temples and still feels very comfortable after hours of use. Sound quality is nice; decent range and didn’t sound tinny at all. The mic is removable which is also a nice feature. For connectivity, I tested the headset with my pc and my ps5, and the set worked flawlessly with both. First world problems with cable management, I know. But the wireless headset has been a welcome change for my setup, and the set feels comfortable even when wearing glasses.

Nah
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was good on the first week but soon had driver problems that lead to losing connection once in awhile and the charge mount doesn't really work and had to waste a lot of time for a sweet spot for it to charge. After owning it for 2 months the right headset slider broke making it loose. Never had a headset problems like this one and should look at other brands.

4 months of use, and its garbage.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When i bought this headset i was really excited because the sound quality for the price was a no brainer, fast forward 4 months and it doesn't even hold a charge longer than an hour, and has connection problems constantly. Uses swarm to update, and every update it gets a little worse. Avoid and buy something else!

Great headphones for gamers!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones definitely have a premium look and feel. The design is not super “gamer” focused with all sorts of strange angles. The design is more simplistic, functional, and clean looking. There is some RGB on the sides, but it can be turned off if needed, but still provides enough flash without looking tacky. Similarly, the base also has a very clean look to it too. There is an RGB ring around the base, but it once again goes more for classy than trashy. The headphones just sit on top to charger, and the base has two USB-C ports. One goes to the computer, and the other can optionally go to a power supply to allow the device to charge even when the PC is turned off. However, if you don’t have the desk space for the base, the headphones have their own USB-C port for charging with a cable. A pair of knobs on the back allow for easy adjustment of volume. But how do they work? The sound quality is VERY nice indeed and the gaming experience can be described as “amazing.” These can also connect via Bluetooth, and that works well. The ear cups are very soft and comfortable, with the material that touches your head being made of a mesh fabric, and the exterior of the cups being what appears to be a faux leather material. Overall, it looks and feels nice. The cups also feel cool to help prevent your ears from sweating. It even feels nice when wearing glasses, but everybody’s head and glasses are different, so your mileage may vary. But no product is perfect, and this one has a few warts. If you are using the charging base, it would be very nice if the headphones turned themselves on when you pick them up, and then turn off when you place them back on the base. Unfortunately this is not the case, and is a missed opportunity. Another miss is that when the microphone is raised or lowered the unit gives informational chimes that are much louder than they need to be, which is annoying. The software does not provide any obvious way to control the volume of these chimes, which is unfortunate. And speaking of the software, the layout seems somewhat cumbersome and confusing. Still, these are relatively minor complaints in an otherwise great, if expensive product.

Not impressed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this headset a couple of years ago and the mic absolutely would NOT work. I tried everything, and ended up returning the product, and exchanging the purchase value for a different headset, from a brand I'm more used to that I've had nothing but good luck with in the past.
