But as for usability it's been great. Downside is it's pricey. I paid the higher price because it gave me more confidence that the 'surge protection' functionality was better and since that's not something you can know until it's too late I didn't want to risk it.

Save my TV

I needed one that was side access and had the plugs sideways due to the shape of the plug on the product we were plugging into it. Would be good if this had 4 outlets instead of 2 but it doesn't block the other wall outlets so you can still plug something else in.

I believe I have been through a blackout when a storm as a approached but I don't remember if I had the subwoofer plugged into the surge protector, turned on. I make it a habit just to turn all my electronics off before a storm. I have had brownouts and it seemed to have down what it was made to do.
