The picture does split but no sound. My wife is furious over the waste after I crawled under the crawlspace running the extra HDMI cable only to end up not being able to use the TV in the kitchen. Save yourself the expense and aggravation and avoid this. Trying to contact the company is a joke. You end up with someone in a third world country.

My work laptop only has one HDMI; I wanted to connect it to two monitors I purchased. The chat agent told me this was the product I needed. Well, it did work. However, the laptop only recognized one of the monitors...I could not get dual, unique images on each monitor. Each monitor displayed the same image. I ended up purchasing a j5create USB 3.0 to dual HDMI multi-monitor adapter.

So if you have a 4k TV and a 1080p TV the transmission to the 4k TV will be limited to 1080p regardless of the source resolution.
