I had a hard time getting our sound bar system working w/HDMI cable without glitches and so I tried this and it has worked flawlessly. One thing is that I don't know if it supports Dolby in this mode which would be the only bummer.

So far it has provided good sounding audio from our Samsung TV to our Samsung sound bar.

He was able to plug this right in to his TV and the headphone stand and he was good to go.

The Rocketfish Optical Audio Cable was the solution. I might not have need 8 ft but it's best to be too long than too short. No problems yet..
