The housing is a bit thicker than I'm used to with 16GA, but it's still within the realm of acceptability. I've not used it long enough to know whether it'll oxidize, but I guess time will tell. I've worked with electronics long enough that I know by now to cut longer than I need and have slack when I need it to cut down more wire. Works great in my banana plugs.

I struggled a bit with getting the wires themselves separated. However that’s not a “bad thing” and with proper tools the speaker wire is a breeze to use.
