    It Worked, But...

It didn't help my situation enough, so I returned it. Many reviews I read here gave me some false hope that this amplifier would boost my signal, and it did--- insignificantly. That's not the fault of the device, though. The product descriptions for these devices are nowhere near sufficiently detailed. The truth is, getting great reception from a digital antenna entails quite a learning curve, as well as much trial and error. This device is a DISTRIBUTION amplifier. When you use a splitter to distribute your signal to multiple rooms and TVs/devices, it weakens the signal traveling down each cable. This amplifier will boost the signal before splitting it off to different places. THAT is what it's designed to do. In that right, it worked for me. However, my need was different. In my situation, the signal was a bit weak when it hit my rooftop antenna (a decent model, but it had no amplifier built in). Then the weak signal traveled through 60 feel of wire, which weakened it further, when it reached the Rocketfish amplifier. All the poor thing could do was to boost an already lousy signal. It helped, but not enough. I needed to boost the signal as the outdoor antenna first received it-- at the top of the mast. So I returned the Rocketfish and purchased a Winegard Boost XT, model LNA-200. That one did the trick. I went from 29 channels (some weak) to 50! So-if you have a good signal from your antenna and need to send it to several places, try this Mini Drop (--talk about a techie, vague, useless name!) amplifier. On the other hand, if you live 10-25 miles from the local transmitters like I do, amplify the antenna itself. I'd recommend this product only IF your situation requires a distribution amplifier. But for goodness sake, buy locally and SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS! I returned several items that turned out not to be what I needed.

    Performs Exceptionally Well

My parents recently added a cable box so they could receive additional HD channels. Unfortunately, many of the channels were not coming in and others were pixelated. I figured this was because the multiple splits in their cable had reduced the signal strength. I replaced a four way splitter they had previously installed with this booster. The location of the booster is near where the cable enters the home, which is recommended. The booster then sends the signal to a four way splitter, two two way splitters, and one cable running directly to another TV. The cable box now works perfectly. They also have two other HD televisions. After performing a rescan, they now receive additional channels that they didn't realize they had. Apparently, the signal had been too weak for the TVs to pick up the channels. This booster also has bidirectinal capability which enables signals to be sent back through the device to the cable company. Prior to the booster installation, their On Demand was not functioning at all. However, after installing the device, their On Demand and Cable Modem function perfectly. I would highly recommend this product to anyone dealing with a weak cable signal.

    It Works

I placed the amplifier in my basement on the first connection where the cable line enters my house. All four televisions around my house then showed nice clear strong signals. Before connecting the RF-G1179, two of my televisions either had no picture or were missing many channels. To test it, I removed the power to the amplifier after all televisions were working perfectly. Immediately the televisions either went back out or showed signs of weak signals. My first attempt to place the amplifier at a television with a weak signal did not work. The amplifier appears to work best at the first connection where the cable enters the house. First connection before any splitters also allows the amplifier to improve all televisions instead of only one.

I decided to try the local channels, so I bought a decent antenna and run the coaxial cable to a 3 ports splitter, but, as you can imagine the signal was weak and the video og my smart tv, just went off when detects weak signal, they are not like the old fashioned Tv where you still can see video. So I bought this Rocketfish Signal amplifier 4 ports, and I was pleasantly surprised. This unit allow me to see more than 50 local channels, with an impressive clarity. In though this item would only help me receive a few additional channels. Before I attached the amplifier; I was only receiving 12 channels with a very bad reception. I highly recommend it..

    Adds strength to marginal signal

A RCA digital receiver antenna is on the roof supplying approx. 23-25 channels/sub-channels based on weather. More often than not the signals would appear and then disappear. The distant stations were seldom worth watching due to the intermittent picture and garbled sound. This RF amp. did a good job at solidifying marginal pictures and sound. It also increased the number of channels to 27.

Simple to install and works perfectly. I split the cable coming to my living room to run to my back porch. I installed 2 TV's on oppisite corners and the signal needed a boost. This did the trick! I have a great picture on all 3 TV's. It's a little pricey in my opinion, but I guess you get what you pay for.

    Good amp but not great

This amp is OK but if I had time, I'd order a Channel Master online. It provides about 10dB of gain and has a built in 4-port splitter. So if you replaced a 4-port splitter with this, you'd get 10dB of gain. That allows you to run a little over 100' of RG-6 on each output. My tests showed about 3.5dB of gain even though the unit is marked 4dB. The paperwork that comes with it says that it's noise figure is 7.5dB which is extremely high for a 10dB amp. It accepts power over the #1 output but there isn't a power inserter included with the unit. That would have been nice because there's rarely an outlet wherever you want to stick an amp. The included wall wart's cord is 6' long.

It beats out Arris for me!

I bought this amplifier but still had problems with screen pixelation so I bought an Arris BDA-K4-RA.After that my HD tv's pixeled even worse, the tv hooked up to the box-some stations just froze up at times.I called the cable company and he added an attenuator-no.9.It didn't stop occasional pixelation. So I went back to the Rocketfish which is less stronger and it worked awesome with the attenuator he had supplied! My problem is/was that I am too close to the main cluster of cables outside the house.Without the amplifier, though, the HD tv's don't have enough cable power. This was my last resort to fix my problem because I was buying more attenuators online to cut down the signal-to no avail.

I have more than two TVs that are not directly supported through the cable box or an HD converter box. Reception was fuzzy and frequently pictures pixelated or disappeared. After installing the Rocketfish Amplifier, picture quality improved dramatically on all digital channels and on most air channels. What a difference!

I finally cut the cable/dish and put an antennae on my roof to access a large number of digital channels for free. Without this mini amplifier, I received very few clear channels throughout our home, but once I installed the amplifier, dozens of additional channels came into view with a very clear pictures! For a very small portion of my monthly dish payment, I was able to install this product that will last for many years to come. Thanks!

Before installing this booster in my attic to boost the cable signal of 4 lines, I would lose the video and audio of many channels on my upstairs tv sets. Now, after installing this booster not only do I receive clear channels, I now get channels that I never received at all before on those tv sets. I would recommend this item 100% to a friend.

A must for long cable runs

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The good thing about the Rocketfish Bidirectional Amplifier is that it speeds up my computer web browser, on this very long cable run I have. The web pages "pop" open like they should, rather than "load", like cable modem dial-up use to be. I have a 60+ feet cable run from point of entry to multiple tv sets. Unfortunately, I have not used any amplifier which as a stand alone unit, produced excellent tv reception, in my circumstance. Therefore, to receive excellent TV reception, I have TWO AC equipped amplifiers on the TV cable line. (The second is less "powerful"/ lesser specs) I use the Rocketfish, near point of entry.

This works exactly as described. I have 5 TVs and a cable modem connected with splitters to my Spectrum input cable. Four of the TVs were connected to one passive 4-way splitter and getting a weak signal as a result. I replaced my passive 4-way splitter with this powered 4-way splitter and all TVs now have an excellent signal.

Every once in a while I get a a little imperfection in the picture and sound but, the problems with my programming dropped dramatically. It used to be pretty much constant but now, 99.9% the picture is perfect. Can't ask for much more than that.
