Reboot cable modem & wifi routerwith no success. Last time it was the optical cable. Ran down to BestBuy, bought this and up and running.

In those days, the optical audio connection was essentially a square opening. If you examine the Rocketfish connectors, these newer connectors are not perfectly square so that although they will fit nicely with newer connectors, the Rocketfish will not fit snugly with older connectors. I believe that the sound quality of the Rocketfish audio cable was better, but unfortunately the connections on my old sound bar faced downward and the cable would, over time, fall out.
