I bought a late model soundbar so I needed this optical cable in order to be able to connect it to my television. It made it possible for older technology to work with new technology.

It turns out the socket on my television is deeply recessed and the optical cable would not fit into the opening as it was. To be honest I trimmed the silver (and a bit more) off of the plug and made it fit. Noe it works perfectly and I have had no problems.

This new one has more power, storage, memory etc and was much cheaper than the one I am replacing! The only downside I see is that it doesn't have a DVD drive, so I had to purchase an external DVD Writer.

The 12 ‘ cable was over 40 bucks with tax I could have gotten soooo much cheaper with just as good quality, but I needed one now. So Best Buy had it in stock. Now watching movie on new tv with excellent sound hooked up. Thanks Best Buy.Just wish it could have been a better price.
