I bought this adapter to extend my desktop to a second monitor. My Toshiba Radius laptop only has a HDMI port and I have a DVI/VGA monitor. The adapter works fine. However, with the HDMI port being adjacent to two USB ports, I lose the availability of a USB port next to it. This is due to the short and wide body of the adapter. Luckily, I do not have a need for both USB ports in my current setup, but someone else might! If I find that I do have a need for this USB port, I will have to find a short HDMI/HDMI cable or a full length HDMI/DVI cable.

The packaging on this adapter says that it specifically converts a DVI output to an HDMI input, but I also wanted to point out that it works the other way as well. I used it to convert HDMI computer output to a DVI monitor input and it worked properly. I wasn't sure it would work that way when I bought it because there was also a $49 cable next to it that had HDMI and DVI ends on it and that cable's package specifically said that it worked both ways, whereas this adapter's package said that it converted "from DVI output to HDMI input," but didn't mention that it could work the other way as well.. Since I already had a DVI to DVI cable for my monitor, this adapter let me re-use that cable with my HDMI computer output and save $20 vs. buying the entire cable at $49.

My old laptop died and I had to buy a new one. I had 2 monitors hooked up to the old one and the new laptop didn't allow me to hook up either monitor so I had to get a connector. I brought it home, plugged it in and bingo, my 2nd screen worked!! Using the product with no issues at all. Didn't need the cable because the monitor had the DVI connection already, so I didn't need length. Perfect size, and not wide where you plug it in so there's no hassle using the USB port next to it!

Easy to use, does what it is supposed to do. My tv went bad so I decided to hook up my computer monitor as a replacement. Plugged device into DVD player and attached cable from monitor to player.

Depending on how you use this converter, it may or may not fit. It's a little bulky so make sure the area aroud the plug has enough space. I ended up reversing my system to accomodate the adapter on the computer side. Also some monitors do not have the space either.

This adapter worked as expected but is very large and blocked one of my HDMI ports. I found a 15" DVI - HDMI cable for cheaper at a computer store that works just as good.

I used this connector to connect a 20 inch Apple Cinema Monitor to my VAIO Laptop and it worked right of the box like a charm. The device is small and easy to carry in my laptop bag, I take it with me everywhere.

good piece of equipment for any us of left with 300lb Sony HD CRT TVs! i use mine outdoors, the HD directTV cable box with this adapter is in a Rubbermaid storage box

I got this to connect my pc to an insignia 39". Even with the 1920x1080 capable resolution the clarity just is not there for any text and gaming when text was requires was painful. Streaming worked ok.

Used this to plug into a cable converter HDMI output and connect to a DVI cable to a computer monitor. The adapter stuck out the back of the converter box and drooped causing the solder connections inside the adapter to break. Not worth the money. The female HDMI to DVI adapter using the HDMI cable would work better because it would hang down on my monitor avoiding the horizontal stress.

I purchased this device, while I was in the process of setting up two monitors for my home computer. The adapter works like a charm.

very easy install bought a new computer with only HDMI out. Used this to go from the HDMI to the DVI.

This DVI-to-Hdmi Adapter was purchased for a home surveillance system and was an easy install.

I needed this for one of my PC monitors. It works perfectly, couldnt be happier.

Does what it needs to do. The adapter is fairly heavy for its size.

While well built, it is wide & blocks my 2nd and only extra HDMI port. If you only have 2 HDMI inputs, try something else
