Attention Win 7 64 Bit Users

So, Purchased this USB Bluetooth Dongle today from the local Best Buy. I feel bad because I am sure that Best Buy does not know the issues with this piece of equipment. Plugged the unit into PC and it was detected with Wondows 7 'installing drivers'. Input the CD that came with the product, just to make sure I had the proper drivers. After hitting the install driver button from the autorun on the CD, it waited fore about 60 seconds and then I got an error message saying that a Bluetooth device was not detected, please plug in a device to continue installation. Tried multiple USB drives and nothing. So I called up Rocketfish to inquire about the problem. After describing the issue with the CSR he informed me that it is a known issue that this product is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit, despite the fact that the product packaging indicates, Compatible with Win 7. So, Win 7 32 Bit users are fine, but beware if you have a 64 bit system, this device will NOT work.

I have a logitech mx5500 bluetooth keyboard and mouse set that i love except for the usb receiver which sticks out way too far. this product solved that problem I just leave it in and it is out of the way. It was very easy to set up and sync with my computer and devices.

    Needed Palm Tungsten E2 Compatibility

This bluetooth unit works well to continue use of my Palm Tungsten E2 that no longer is supported by HP and USB updates to the Desktop Program won't work. Only bluetooth will work based on HP lack of support. This bluetooth works just fine. Very pleased.

Will *not* work with Windows 7 x64

I purchased this adaptor to use with my old Palm Tungsten E2, as Palm's Desktop no longer functions via the USB cable under a 64 bit OS. The device was detected, and drivers supposedly loaded upon insertion into the USB port, however, it failed to show up under devices and hardware to allow configuration of the port to access the Palm. Downloaded the latest driver package from Broadcom, installed that, and still nada. Needless to say, I will be returning this to my local BestBuy, and will seek an operational adaptor elsewhere. This review by no means is intended to down either BestBuy or the product, it may well work under a 32 bit system, but... if you plan to use it with a 64 bit OS, save yourself the hair pulling and frustration, and pass on this one.

I am using this on my desk top computer to swap pictures between my PC and my Cell phone, works pretty good. I also have a bluetooth mouse that it works with Awesomely. I can also take it out of the PC and use it with my Laptop. So, I'm thinking of getting a bluetooth mouse for my laptop as well.

Great to add to computers w/o BT

This takes a little bit to install, especially on a Netbook since they don't have CD drives. You're better off downloading the drivers directly from Rocketfish's website then to install from the CD. Either way, this item is great for adding Bluetooth to computers without Bluetooth built in.

    Decent for the money

Works well with Windows 7 and Vista. Just allow Windows to find the driver for you. Windows will direct you to download a broadcom USB driver from their website. When in operation, the USB device will sometimes stop working. If you go out of range, the connection will become lost. The most difficult part is getting the connection back once it has been lost. I realize the range is 30ft at best. However, when I have to reconnect the device, it requires disabling and re-enabling the bluetooth service in order for the device to properly function. So tip #1, don't let your device get too far out of range. #2. The voice quality on Skype, Ventrilo, and Team Speak is average. There is a slight lisp sound on the microphone which users on the receiving end complain about. I am using a $200 dollar plantroincs headset, so the quality of the headset is not an issue. All in all, this is a good device. If you are looking to use it primarily for voice communications, it will work. If you are looking for High-Quality voice communication, look elsewhere.

Do you have adult male hands? Then plug this thing in and leave it plugged in or you might lose it. And you don't want to lose it. It works great. The set-up takes almost no time and it works great with Windows 7. And who wants Windows 8, these days? Not me.

Small adapter which will allow you to leave it connected when you put your laptop on your bag, also won't block USB ports next to it. Updated drivers shipping nowadays that also work with Vista 64bit. Had a good experience connecting my cellphone to my laptop.

Not a single complaint from me. Works with my desktop just as good as the built-in bluetooth works on my laptop. Sounds like some of the other reviewers have no idea what they are doing.

I had bought this to convert my custom built pc into a bluetooth conversing machine. It installed easily with no problems and works with A2DP. However everyone should take note of this. """Always, I repeat always go to the company's website to download the latest drivers""". I am saying this becuase the CD's that the companies provide for product installation are 92% of the time outdated. So before complaining, go and check out their website.

Somewhat overpriced. No hardware conflicts with my HP laptop. Would like a small plastic travel case for the dongle as I ruined one already leaving it in the USB port while traveling.

Not Intuitive to Set Up -- But Works Now

I bought this for my new high-end bluetooth headphones. At first I couldn't get them to connect to PC, then they were connected but wouldn't play audio. I tried the driver on the rocketfish website but that didn't work. When I allowed Windows to automatically to search for drivers, it installed many new drivers. Then I made the new audio playback device as default, and it it now works great. Now that it works, this is a great value.

Worked exactly as expected on the first try. Easy to install and no worries about it falling out, it stays put very well. A little surprised by the price, but not a big deal since they work. I've bought 3 this year and haven't had any trouble out of any of them.

    Can't dynamically assign addresses

I'm using Lite-C Gamestudio to make games that can use the wireless Wiimote. When I connected on my Dell laptop, after finding the device it gives you the option to either enter a secure connection key #, or skip that option and a number is dynamically assigned. However the software that comes with it will not allow you to click the Next button unless you enter something. I contacted their support number which transfers you to India. After going through their database of FAQs, it was clear they didn't have a solution and I told them that it was a fixable problem because clearly other manufacturers don't seem to have an issue with allowing an empty passkey field. They passed the information back to their technicians who tried to tell me that I needed to contact the manufacturer of the bluetooth device and get the information from them. They basically said they weren't interested in fixing the problem and I could just take it back to BestBuy. Major shame I have to take it back, considering the hardware works just fine: the Wii icon pops up in the list and everything OK. Just their software programmers are to lazy to make it work.
