I had been able to get a few stations with a set of rabbit ears but they were awkward and sometimes pixelated. I purchased this item to see if I could pull in the local broadcast stations all located 15 - 20 miles away. No luck, this antenna did no better. The good thing is Best Buy accepted the return with no question.

Could not receive local channels, and had no interest in the 13 channels it did pick up; LAFF, ME, etc. NO channel guide for stations such as 3.1, 3.2. 5.1, 5.5. Did not want to run 50 ft. of coax cable across the room to see if a window made a difference. It was the third antenna I tried.

Suggest you spend the extra $149 to get the Geek Squad to set it up for you since there are so many areas to maximize especially if you have cable or Direct TV, etc. The remote is not a typical remote so you may want to use your cable remote or a universal remote.

I know Cox Communications is requiring a converter box, even for OTA stations. Tried on 3 different TV's. 2 in my apartment 1 at my mom's. Got 4 channels after moving it around different locations at my place. Couldn't get any at mom's :-(
