I specifically wanted a GPS which also has a dash cam. The sales rep said this one did. It did not and since I went on vacation I did not find out until after the 15 day return period. Best Buy would not exchange it. Very unhappy.

I bought this item, it worked amazing for 2-3 hours. It stopped and never connected again. I retuned it. I have other rocket fish products that are great. That is why I bought this. Maybe I got a lemon??

Purchased this item on Geek Squad's recommendation. Would cause TV to lose signal, freeze delay sound, etc. Horrible experience with this item! (Twice might I add)

I am amazed at how easily this thing installed and worked right out of the box. I would have given the fifth star if the device included a remote infrared sensor at the transmitter as well as at the receiver. my application requires hiding all devices at both ends. For some reason, at the receiver end, a remote infrared eye is accommodated for control, while at the transmitter end the infrared port is used only for controlling the device which is transmitting, which in my case is the cable box. Therefore, the transmitting end has to be exposed to the remote which you are using. I am sure they have their reasons for this but it is an obvious detriment in wall hung installations. Is it a deal breaker? Probably not, but it does knock a pretty slick design down at least a notch. By the way, the two televisions are on separate floors, are on two separate breakers, common panel, modern romex wiring, works flawlessly. if they accommodated the infrared eye on the transmit end I would be way, way more pleased.....way, way, way more pleased. I still have to hide that end with another remote controlling device and that is what I was trying to avoid while also slaving that second tv. not perfect but it could have been. C'mon guys.

    Works well, easy to install

The product was easy to install and works very well. It replaced a LeapFrog that was subject to all sorts of RF interference. The installation and operation instructions were in very clear English and anticipated likely user errors. I also liked the use of separate booklets for the Spanish version of the documentation. The sticky pads for attaching the IR sensors need improvement - the red plastic cover is hard to separate from the pad and the pad's stickiness goes away when you touch it. However, they give you spares and any foam tape will also work fine. Remember to plug the units directly into wall outlets. Surge protectors and extension cords lose a lot of UHF signal strength. However, I used a kitchen GFI outlet with no problem.

I've tried many of the wireless solutions and the range can be an issue if not in the same room or very nearby. With power line kits like this, distance isn't an issue. Also the switching isn't an issue either as it has discrete source selection which is great. I'd seen where people said they had to reset the units and such. Didn't see that. Only issue is first time on after being off it starts to go into slow mo. Switching sources back and forth and the problem is gone. Only happens with Cable too! Can live with that little glitch especially avoiding wires. Unit also has local output so you can use it to share a source to use in two rooms!

I had the same problem with pixelation and serious lag time that others complained of. I was boxing the units up to return them, when I saw that I had plugged the transmitter into a surge protected power strip that was daisy chained to a battery back up unit which was also surge protected. I moved the transmitter to a wall plug and then everything worked perfectly. No lag times, no pixelation -- this might be a solution for someone else as well.

Works fine as long as both units are plugged directly into the wall. I have lots of electronic devices in both rooms, and I have not seen the circuit breaker problem, at least not yet. It evens works with the receiver plugged into an HDMI hub, so I am able to switch between the Rockfish and the PS3 and BluRay player on the same tv.

Nice picture quality when it works

Be prepared to reset the boxes often. It sometimes takes 4 or more attempts of power up/power down, unplug/replug until the signal locks on. Signal often (daily and sometimes hourly) freezes or loses lip sync and needs to be reset. Plugging the unit directly into the outlet AC outlet, instead of a power strip, helped. The signal wouldn't pass through my Pioneer receiver so I had to plug it directly into my monitor. However, the picture quality is excellence- when it works. My receiver is in the room next to the transmitter, so it's not a long run. I was just trying to save the cost of another cable box rental.

I didn't expect much, and my expectations were met

Almost half the reviews on the BB website for this product were rated 5 stars, and about a fifth were one star. If I could leave NO STARS, that would be my preference. The transmitter and receiver promptly "synched", and the audio came thru first- and it sounded great. Then the video. $&#@%/! Garbled, pixelated, and terrible! I had a cable news channel on, and the "static" parts of the image (the background, behind the news anchor) was crystal clear. The face of the anchor, as well as the scrolling ticker-tape newsfeed at the bottom of the screen looked like scenes from a bad "blur" edit. Like you would see to hide the identity of the person on camera, or cover a vulgar print on somebody's t-shirt. Not the results I was looking for. This connection was directly from my cable box on the transmit end, and the TV on the receiver end. I had the option to put the cable box and transmitter in the other room, and promptly tried reversing the chain. Devices wouldn't synch. 2 hours in, and I'm ready to return for a refund. My previous bad experience was with the "Actiontec" My Wireless TV product, and I waited too long to get it back to the store. I honestly don't think the tech is there yet for any of these products to be 100% reliable. I understand that some people, with simple systems might get lucky, and have perfect results. And others, with complicated systems, might get lucky as well. But I'm stuck with wireless devices that aren't dependable, and I'm not going to be stuck with another! Word to the wise: Hang on to that receipt. And if it's not 100%, take it back. The reason these sub-par products exist, is that people put up with it because it's the best that the manufacturers have to produce, because so many people figure it's better than nothing. If it doesn't get a 5-star review, it shouldn't be on the shelf. Period. Another waste of time, and definitely a waste of money.

Nice Idea, did not transmit cable signal

Let me preface this by saying that I like Rocketfish products. I use them quite a bit in 2 surround sound AV systems in my house. They are overall reliable and reasonably priced. Cable is already expensive enough and I don't want to pay another $20/mo for another HD box for my bonus room, so I bought this to send the signal to the bonus room from my primary cable box. Unfortunately it did not transmit the signal. I did multiple iterations. Originally, I had hooked up the HDMI cables as described and then hooked the plug of the transmitted into a surge protector--which seemed to dampen the signal. OK, I plugged it into the wall outlet and the signal strength was much better. I had hooked the receiver up to an HDMI input on my AV receiver (Pioneer Elite SC05), but the signal did not go through the AV receiver (unlike my Roku which I simultaneously tested). I then plugged the receiver HDMI into the back of the TV and the signal transmitted briefly--then the TV described something about loss of signal and to hook up the component cables. That was not possible with this device, however, as it is only HDMI. This may be an issue with the encryption of the TV signal as the Slingbox 500 includes component outputs specifically for this reason. So to see if I could get the device to transmit and receive non-cable HDMI signals, I just hooked it up to my computer and shot the signal across the room. It worked fine, but there was a very slight delay, but the room is already wired over HDMI/Cat5 connection, so it is redundant and does not fulfill it intended purpose. So, if your needs are limited to non-cable HDMI (DVD, BluRay, computer hookup, etc), this could work, but I cannot recommend it to send a cable signal throughout the house. I'll probably try the Slingbox 500.

I was lucky enough to snag this from my local store as an open box item for $40 off. I was very skeptical at first, especially because our house was built in the early 80's, but it works! We have two bedrooms upstairs and only one of them was wired for cable. Plugged this little baby in and voila, HDTV in both rooms now! A little disclaimer: The TV I'm sending the signal to is a 32" 720p, so I'm not sure how it would look on my 55," but I'm certainly getting 720p quality out of the one I needed to. Sure, it's a little pricey, but my cable provider charges $10/mo for an extra HD receiver AFTER I pay $100 to have a technician come out and run coax through my attic. So, this will pay for itself in 6 months. Also, it allows two different input sources, so I can see some other interesting applications for this: e.g. using an Xbox connected to a TV in the living to stream Netflix on a TV in the bedroom or kids room. Having a deck party? Take your spare TV and this console outside and just plug it in! Well done, Rocketfish.

    Not for 4K TVs

I purchased this last year at my local Best Buy. About 6 months in I started to have issues. Trouble getting the TV to turn on when it was connected, then I realized that the transmitter/receiver would get warm to the touch. Turning off then on again fixed the problem each time. I just bought a VIZIO 43" Class 4K Ultra HD LED Smart TV - M43-C1. IT DOES NOT work with this home extender. The picture on the TV connected to the transmitter (not the receiver) flips on and off when connected. If you might upgrade in the future, do not buy this.

If you are just trying to watch BASIC tv, it works great. I wanted to hook it up to my projector to save running the cable. Audio/Video was off. Freezes. Won't play 3D. Has a hard time talking to my receiver and components. Sony STR-1010 and matching BluRay player with Directv service. Most tv channels work, but anything with 5.1 surround or fast paced sports was not very well received or did not work. Pass on this if you want quality theater.
