What an amazing little device. Running AAA games at 30-60 fps is impressive. If youre familiar with windows customization is robust to tune settings. The only con is a physics problem. The battery life isnt great on this, and a battery bank is a must. A heavier battery in the device would be too uncomfortable.

Great Handheld PC for Diablo 4

I was looking for a handheld PC to play Diablo 4 and it came down to the ROG Ally or the SteamDeck with workaround. The price point of the ROG Ally was comparable to the SteamDeck with 512gb, so I had to decide if the $50 price difference was worth it. After watching and reading a lot of reviews comparing the two, I decided to give the ROG Ally a try. Having used Windows 11 and having set up multiple PCs with this OS, I felt like I could troubleshoot some of the issues discussed in the reviews. The few issues that kept appearing in reviews (i.e. microSD card corruption, FPS performance at 15W, etc.) were supposedly addressed in recent firmware and BIOS updates. First thing I did as soon as I booted up the ROG Ally was perform these updates before attempting to game on the device, and I believe this addressed most of the performance issues others experienced at launch. I was able to download and install battle.net and Diablo 4 pretty easily and was able to get sustained 60fps while plugged in and using Turbo Mode. So far, I’ve put about 7-8 hrs on D4 both plugged in and on battery and have enjoyed the experience. Coming from mouse and keyboard on a gaming PC with 144fps to the ROG Ally took a little getting used to, but after about an hour I had no issues playing the game using the ROG Ally controller. I also tried partying up with some friends using the hotel Wi-Fi and was able to run dungeons for a couple of hours without any disconnections or significant lag. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my purchase and will update my review after I’ve put in more hours on the ROG Ally!

The Asus ROG Ally is great though it may not fit your needs. Pros - Windows 11 - Comfortable Design - Runs most games with no issues - Beautiful screen - Quality build - Good customization/power profiles Cons - Windows 11 - Very limited battery life - No good carry case available Meh - Asus launcher software - functional but could be better

Had my doubts based on reviews and the Lenovo Legion Go dropping but definitely glad I went with the Rog Ally. I love the screen size and rarely ever play handhelds with the controllers detached. Battery life could use improvement but its to be expected with a device like this running all these programs. 512Ggb isnt really enough to do much with. Consider an SSD upgrade to 1TB minimum.

This unit is WONDERFUL! I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone using a handheld gaming device especially if you play PC games. I've played multiple AAA titles on this without falter. Destiny 2, Cyberpunk, Diablo IV, etc. Only complaint is the battery life outside of it's charging state. if you're gaming on the go, really bump down the intensity or else you're looking at a minimum duration of gaming.. like maybe 1 hour at higher wattage usage

Great for ppl with motion sickness. Expect to always be plugged in - esp for the extra performance boost, but it's an extremely powerful handheld - albeit with some quirks. No, its definitely not future proof, but for ppl who have nostalgia, or a huge list of games in their steam they have not touched/finished, this is great for that.

I didn’t expect to enjoy the ROG Ally as much as I do. It runs GTA V and Hogwarts Legacy super smooth, especially with the upscaling. I was honestly surprised how good it looked and felt on a handheld. It’s wild having that kind of power in something I can take anywhere. I barely touch my main setup anymore. If you’ve been thinking about getting one, just do it. Totally worth it.

Love this thing. If you know how to operare a gaming PC you should have no problem enjoying this device. Don't expect this to be as simple and user friendly as something like the Nintendo Switch. It's full Windows, so expect a good bit of setup and occasional troubleshooting. Plenty of power for its size. You'll probably want more storage. Thankfully it's simple to expand.

The idea is really cool was hoping for alot sense it had AMD iGPU. Was a little disappointed. When ever I tried to use it it froze because of windows and memory issue i’m guessing. And the one demo I wanted to play in it kept crashing FF11 benchmark (that can run on a potato) and every time i ran it on high kept getting directX 3d crash. Installed direct X make it work on low setting not high. I think it needs a switch to make it use the controller as just a controller when your gaming as well. Still hoping for my handheld PC. I feel like its the netpicky market your going to sell this too and it’s just not there yet.

Don’t recommend the official case since it won’t fit the charger with it. Abut great finds on Amazon. Also battery life is very low for high spec games. Great performance on high battery or plugged in but may be slow for really graphic titles. Great community support for game optimization.

Its a great handheld . It performs well for majority of games i have tested but only flaws ill mention is the the thumbsticks , Feels like back in the old days of the ps3 controller very loose no tension on the sticks and also battery life not the best almost 1 hour but overall great handheld for those who have the money for it

Super useful device for playing indie games and helping clear out your backlog of older AAA games. If you're more technically inclined the ability to stream to it from your main gaming PC is great.

Excellent product. The convenience of having a portable PC. No problems just need to know how to use a PC. Only modification i had to do was get a 2TB SSD. Was able to replace SSD myself, very easy install.

This little machine is great! I love that i can play not only my ste games but my xbox games away from home without having to stream them or rely on a good internet connection. Feels good to hold and not to heavy. Only negative thing but is expected with these handhelds is the battery life. Its always smart to carry something around with you to charge it

Right now this is the most powerful windows gaming handheld on the market and can handle most AAA games with no problem. The battery life is pretty bad, if you are running turbo mode, you can see your battery % decrease by the second. You have to put in some work to get the things working but this is definitely worth it. Wish the internal storage was larger but from youtube videos, it looks like its pretty easy to upgrade yourself.
