excellent performance in all the games that I have tried from the steam store, gamepass and epic, both in portable mode and connected to a dock, the battery lasts about an hour but charges in half that time, the joysticks are not good for shooters but being a pc with windows 11 it has compatibility with xbox controllers

Love the Rog ally performance is sweet, dislike the minor bugs that affects the sd card to none usable and the bios update 3.19 is still bugged performance suffers. Stay with the bios 3.17. Better performance. ASUS is still supporting software updates.

A tiny handheld computer. Able to play Steam and other PC games on the Ally. Fits my hands perfectly (female). Speakers are plenty loud enough. Screen is bright and clear. Never any lag or blur. External storage. Minimal setup. I prefer it over my son's Steam Deck. I think he might be jealous!

Powerful, compact, and large enough to play Retro, PC, and Emulators comfortably. The ally balanced the Power and Price, yes you can get a slightly faster machine for way more or a slow 720p for less. This hit the sweet spot.

Great for casual gaming and as a handheld pc. Can easily use steam and other launchers. Looks and feel more premium than steam deck. Two minor issues i had: squeaky triggers and low quality when playing aaa games. Casual gand retro gamer will have an amazing experience!

Great little mobile gaming device that can be stand alone PC when you need it. Just know that you need to alter game settings to have a smooth expierence, but even then the games still look fantastic. Games I've played so far Cyberpunk 5/5, Chivalry 5/5, Starfield 3/5 (They're still ironing out some kinks), Baldur's Gate 3 2/5 (There are some setting to tweak, but imo it's does not play well and looks like PS2 Graphics), GTA V 5/5, Payday 5/5, and more. I travel extensively for work and some situations a standard gaming laptop is not viable in the passenger seat of car or plane. The only issue I have is battery life, but you want to be plugged in to take advantage of turbo mode. I do reccomend a stylus and a protective screen if you have giant hands. The fans arent too noticeable, but they're audible when gaming in bed in the evening. I really enjoy watching movies and series on it and packed with an SD card or expanded SSD it is nice. Definitely invest in a docking station to game on larger screens.

Why not. From a deck user. The ally is the next best thing. It’s exactly what you expect. Which means. It’s rocket fast. It plays anything. The sound is top notch. The screen is gorgeous. But it’s windows. It’s not a switch or deck like super easy console. Requires knowledge of windows. Reddit will be your best friend

I have loved my ROG Ally and being able to play games everywhere in my house. It plays most of my games very well. It is also a great Nintendo Switch replacement with my emulated games. I did have an issue with the SD card reader, but ASUS was quick to RMA and fix the issue.

I own AyaNeo2 Steamdeck and ROG Ally. I see mysepf picking up Ally more often than not. It is an amazing device. Beinf an avid windows user, and being building PCs since 1990s, i was right at home with interface. It has it's own quirks but the ability to natively play all games is amazing! I would give it 6 starts if i could.

It’s loads of fun if you know where to set your expectations when getting into it. I’ve definitely heard about a lot of people returning since it isn’t as seamless as something like the Steam Deck. It has a much better screen and performance. It’s great once you’re in game, but getting there can be tricky pretty often.

This is a great gaming hand held! Works and runs smoother than I ever thought. One down side is the battery does not last very long. But overall a great alternative to a PC

It’s fun and runs things surprisingly well when plugged into power on handheld it struggles when not in turbo mode but that does drain the battery pretty quickly. I did get it open box and had no problems at all it does everything I want it to do

A pleasant surprise, works really well, and plays all my games without any challenges so far with very high responsiveness in high detailed modes. Light weight so easy to hold and play for couple of hours. Pretty good first attempt for a handheld PC

Much better than my steamdeck as far as usability. Plays more games, but the micro sd design is so flaw and can fry a micro sd within a week. Upgrading the internal 2230 ssd was easy!

Very nice portable Diablo 4 box. Plays everything I own within reason. There are SD card reader issues; however with the ease of upgrading the NVME drive I don't use the reader anyways. So far updates after purchase have been fairly regular.

I'm sure many of the reviews are bringing up hardware problems. I've had none. My purchase is still working perfectly after about a month. I do believe many of the issues are from people that aren't familiar with Windows. They likely did not run on the updates on the software and drivers and became frustrated with performance because of that. It's not a console. It's a laptop in a handheld format. It requires software updates just like any other computer. I'm sure there are people with legitimate issues, but I've had none. I purchased the Ally as an upgrade from the Steam Deck. The 1080p, paired with the fast CPU and GPU makes it a far better choice for me. The screen alone is worth the upgrade. The Ally running on Windows allows you to install any launcher (not just Steam) without issues. You could do the same on the Steam Deck, but it basically required you to install a 3rd party launcher to launch your other launchers. Always seemed ridiculous to me. Basically, know that it's just a laptop in a different format. If you are comfortable with that and the Windows OS, you'll love it.

Best part of this device is the screen. Super vibrant and contrast ratio is much better than my Steam Deck with a lot less backlight glow (though still wish it could have been OLED.) As far as power, this thing does magic for a handheld. Haven't had any issues running the games I want to play with decent framerates. My main issue is the ASUS software. Armory Crate is just really buggy. Often times in the quick menu, options will just completely freeze up and not work. I don't think the FPS limiter works at all. It makes doing any minor adjustments a bit of a pain. Hopefully, just like Valve, ASUS will continue to support this product with software updates to make it something truly special.
