Super great machine for on-the-go gaming. Only big drawback is the battery life but its worth keeping a battery pack with while you are out and about. Plays all my games I want great. Also can get loud fan-wise but can be tuned out.

I love this handheld. I bought it to replace my gaming laptop that I didn’t use very much. It supports external displays and can dock to a tv. I have had no problems with it so far and it does well for all the games I play. I have high hopes for the future of these handheld type devices.

I bought this as an open box item, and I could not be happier. Besides a little smudge on the edge which wiped off, this thing was brand new. It works great with any game I have played on it. The battery life can go a bit quick, but I also purchased a battery pack, and it keeps it going with no trouble.

Purchased for my wife who didn't enjoy the Steam Deck due to size and weight. The ASUS ROG Ally is lighter, more powerful, and also quieter. It plays everything she wants to play from Stardew Valley up to her collection of Assassin Creed games and Hogwarts Legacy. And she loves the smoothness of the high-refresh rate screen. 10/10

While I ended up returning this in the end it worked exactly as intended. A pocket computer when you need it, a portable gaming device when you want it. The Armory Crate software worked pretty seamlessly, although it wasn’t without its bugs. The main issue I had with it was the battery life, though it was to be expected considering the specs that it has. Also you don’t get maximum CPU performance without plugging it in, which kind of defeats the purpose of a portable handheld device. Upgradable onboard storage is another plus, and with ASUS Cloud Recovery it makes the whole Windows reinstallation process relatively painless. There is also a microSD slot for those who don’t want to deal with reinstallation. Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap alternative to an entry gaming pc with the capability of taking it on the go for short uses.

Tips for new owners, including fix for initial wifi keyboard issue: 1. When initially selecting your keyboard in the setup, click to add an extra keyboard template, then search your language (IE: English US), then after selecting continue as normal, now when you set up your wifi the keyboard will pop up. Its that easy. 2. Immediately update all drivers on MyAsus AND on armory crate to rnsure the device is now completely updated. 3. Now that your device is updated, in armory crate navigate to gpu settings and change from 4gb vram to 8gb. This drastically improves performance in games. And lastly, make sure RSR is activated in command center, this will also increase your frames in game. Overall, the ROG ally is great. Its bright ips 1080 screen is crisp and beautiful. The touch screen actually feels great when nagigating around windows and scrolling, almost feels just like using my smartphone. Cheers guys, hope this helped someone.

The ASUS ROG ALLY is quite literally the best bang for your buck handheld, by far. I picked up a 2TB m.2 to swap the original 512GB and was quite impressed at how simple and straightforward the installation of the drive was. Alao, the reinstallation of the operating system was very simple and straightforward as well. Man, I primarily use it for retro gaming but works well with my XBOX Game pass. I can't stop talking about this device. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Strongly advise you know how to get around computers, lots of updates and setting tweaks and YouTube videos to get the most peak/cooling performance. I was 2 seconds away from returning to best buy due to low fps and high temps. But after some research turning off cpu boost from agressive to disabled actually keeps it from burning up to about 70 to 78 playing aaa games. Also 2 mods to the handheld, 2tb ssd 2230 and a heatsink to it reduced overheating temps on ssd by 18 degrees. So dont buy and think it works great out of the box because it doesn't. However after adressing issues I use this more than my pc. In the bed and on the couch is so much easier. P.s.a dont use ssd card for games or at least long time use for heavy demanding games. I just use the 2tb ssd i installed. Overheating your sd card is still a thing.

I take my favorite games with me ill even just chill in the living room and game! This with the open fit pro earbuds by Shokz is one of the best Gaming experiences ive ever had i can hangout with friends and just vibe. I also got a new puppy so i need to watch him so i just play games and its super easy to keep and eye on him. One thing i dont like is its a white handle it gets dirty quick in the case i keep isopropyl alcohol whipes and microfiber cloths to keeo it looking nice. I primarily play Smaller games like Katana Zero, Hotline Miami, Enter The Gungeon, Messenger, Dead Cells, Ect. It handles other larger games pretty well such as Bo3 with zombies and custom maps but i use the smaller fames when i have a break at work and i can pause it for a bit till im off.

The ROG Ally is a FANTASTIC handheld PC!!! That being said, it is a WINDOWS 11 PC. It comes with all the quirks too. It isn't as plug and play as a Nintendo Switch. If you have a laptop, or desktop PC, the set up for the Ally is the same. However, Armory Crate software adds the console like feel after you install your games. Once set up, it is very easy to use after that. Battery life varies wildly depending on how you are using it. AAA modern games like Battlefield 2042, Cyberpunk, Call of Duty, etc are demanding and chew through the battery. Streaming through Nvidia GeForce Now, PS Plus, and Xbox Cloud Gaming are gentle, and do not demand the higher power settings. Same is true with older less demanding games. So, your experience will vary. Over all, i love this thing and I would highly recommend it to any avid gamer for gaming on the go.

Great for gaming on the go. Great performance on double AA titles and indie games. I use it everyday, and as a father of a toddler, the ROG ALLY is my go to whenever i get an itch to game. The portability allows me to game while watching the kid. Awesome buy’

And excellent portable windows device that can do a little bit of everything. The only draw back is the battery and personally the fans can get a little loud when playing intense games. For a first generation product it a great foundation to build upon.

THIS IS A MINI PC, NOT A CONSOLE!!! The ones giving negatives in their reviews are constantly comparing the Ally to consoles, mainly the Steam deck. You would never compare a PC to an Xbox or PS5, there’s no point of comparing the Ally to a steam deck. The Ally is better compared to laptops and other windows handhelds. Windows does not work like a console, AND WILL NEVER WORK LIKE A CONSOLE unless windows make a console like os. Asus cannot fix the demands other reviewers have b/c their complaints are limitations to windows. If your a PC player and want to continue to have the freedom to play all the games in your library, your not afraid of tweaking settings then this is for you. If your a console player and you want to simply click and play, this is not for you.

As the title states, this is a handheld pc. Not a console. So if youre expecting an easy experience like a switch, xbox or ps4 or even a steam deck, this wont be for you. You must have knowledge of how a computer works and operates. With that being said, set up was a breeze. Update all the drivers in armory crate, amd software and my asus app and boom! You are good to go my friend. I have bigger hands and this feel great. The screen is amazing, being able to customize your desktop just like a pc, because it is a pc, is amazing. Steam, xbox and epic are already pre installed. Just log into your account and boom. I havent upgraded my ssd yet since Im very selective on the games I want to play and like to finish the ones im on before i jump over to the next. Upgrading the ssd is a simple 5 minute job and is the easiest thing you can possible do. I currently have a 1tb sd card that holds my xbox game pass games on it currently and have not fried it like some have. Now, is this thing perfect? No. Its not for everyone. Will it replace your desktop? It could, but youll be limited. Is it a console? No. I wont have all the answers but if you join some forums majority of all your answers will be there.

Know what you're getting when you get devices like these. You can play and run almost about everything on here with the right settings and constantly update your drivers and software. Battery is not that great but i don't expect any portable pc to last longer than 1hr without settings adjustment.

So its a good device, great concept and basically a portable gaming pc. The drawbacks are that the sticks are very smooth (i like a little resistance personally), and the sd card reader may just decide to stop working or reading specitic cards. Mine currently stopped reading the sd card i bought specifically for it but that card works fine in other devices and different cards work in it, and sometimes the armory service can load slow or windowd just not want to function properly (had to hold down the power several times because it wouldnt shut fown normally). When it does work, which is usually, its a great little device that runs pretty well. Id wait to see what asus does about these issues before buying if i were you though.

This thing is a beast. Run alot of games no problems. Feels good to hold and controlls are in a good position. Screen looks amazing runs at 1080p and 120 htz. Runs windows 11 but has a asus over lay so you can easily control your settings like tdp. Ive had it tor a month and have played it every day no problem. RGB lights around controllers.

I didn’t like it every card I put in to it for extra storage was fried and it seemed to over heat pretty easy
