First of all, I got this on release day as an impulse buy. Had no idea about it nor did I do any research. I own two Assus laptops and have been very happy. I mean its Asus! How bad can it be? Well, pretty bad it turns out. The product is made out of cheap feeling plastic. The joysticks have no tension at all. I have no idea how they get back in center position on their own. I literally can't feel it move sometimes. The thing gets very hot and loud. Battery life is insanely bad, just keep it plugged in. There is a 3 sec delay to register input 80% of the time. Armoury crate is an abomination, but I already knew that. If I knew that's what they used I would have never purchased it. I have only Steam installed because when trying to install other platforms like Ubisoft I literally can't type in my login info. It simply doesn't register. Same goes for Rockstar and GOG Galaxy. After reading the reviews I have come to realize that, apparently, it is perfectly acceptable to charge $699 plus tax and be a beta tester for Asus. People are expecting that the device will be great in about a year (assuming Asus dedicates enough effort into maintaining and improving this product) and thus rating the device positively. Maybe I'm old school but for this kind of money I expect a premium feeling device with smooth user experience and top notch performance. You literally get none of that with this device. Complete trash. Will be returning it.

Very hood option to handheld pc gaming especially for bethesda games.

I owned a Steam Deck before the Ally, and I can honestly say I haven’t used my Steam Deck since then. I liked the console feel of the Steam Deck but Linux does have its limitations. The Ally on the other hand can handle most if not all the games in my Steam and Epic Games Library with ease, especially if you configure everything down to the recommended specs. Windows can be a little convoluted but once you update and adjust everything to your liking I feel that it’s a pretty solid handheld PC. Give it a week and you won’t regret your decision :)

Don't expect it to be a full fledge pc. You will need to tweak it to your desired playstyle. This can play most games, but at a cost of FPS or image quality. Now it's a small screen, which makes up for the fact that low resolutions won't be as noticeable. If you love to tweak things and game on the go, then this device is perfect. It will complement your gaming pc Thanks to cloud saves you can pick from where you left on your pc or vice versa.

I have a number of handhelds now including the steam deck and oneXplayer mini 6800u. After using this about a few weeks I can say this is by far the better machine. The cooling alone and how quiet it is when using it makes it the best as of now. You can get more fps due to the ability to raise the power in the armory crate manual mode. I normally play plugged in and it can boost to 50w making this thing put out higher fps than all other competitors.I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

I really liked it as a portable gaming pc, issue was the battery length.

Item as described, i would like if the battery lasted a little bit longer.. I also updated the memory to 1 tera.

I use this to play steam games! It runs great and the screen is vibrant!

I’ve been having handhelds since the game boy so I know how far the handheld gaming industry has come. If you are new to PC make sure you watch as many videos as possible. It can be a bit tricky for a novice with no patience. It can run anything thrown at in and has ton of customization. Main drawbacks are the battery(which is to kinda be expected), not the greatest thumb sticks in the world( you get use to them, and eventually someone will come out with 3rd party ones). I mean it truly is a handheld gaming pc. Have some patience with it and you should enjoy this ride as I am. PS….My wife loves it and she never liked gaming at all!

As someone who is a pc gamer and have tried many portable options (steam deck, asus flow z13, laptops and nintendo switch), I can truly say that this device has the most power. My steam deck runs windows as well and has a hard time playing cod but the ally can on low medium settings. To be able to add the asus egpu will better expand the chances for higher resolution and ugraded settings. I would recommend this device to others but as long as you know how to work windows to get the best out of your experience.

This is a really great item to get if you are always on the move wanting to game. Downside is the battery doesn’t last very long.

Excellent, fun and versatile. My only improvement would be battery life. It does charge quickly and performance exceeds my expectations

This is a great portable pc gaming machine. Plays all my compatible Xbox and pc games. The only issue is the battery life is a bit short.

Love it. I bought it for my wife to get in to pc gaming and for use on the go. It exceeded my expectations, it can run most new games on a monitor with te dock and on the stand alone screen

Amazing. Have a library of PC games that I have not been able to play due to time constraints, kids and work etc. So being able to play on the go with this portable beast is a pleasure. Armoury crate seems to work very well, would take some of the critic reviews with a pinch of salt since they are mostly outdated with the number of updates that Asus have been delivering. There has been an issue with the SD card, it did seem strange that the bios I was running would allow the system to run at 90C. I purposely avoided this and since they have released an updated bios that runs with much louder fan profile and lower temperatures

The ROG Ally with Z1 extreme chip is phenomenal. I have tried multiple different handhelds this past year and the Ally takes the cake. I'm 6'4" 270lbs with fairly large hands so, without a case, the Ally does get slightly uncomfortable after an hour or so of gaming. Since pairing witht the Skull&Co. grip case, I've had absolutely no hand pain even after several hours. If you have larger hands, be sure to factor in about $25 more for a grip/shell and you won't regret it.

really cool portable gaming pc quality is good and the softwares are super good so far no issue and it runs most of my steam games

Amazing handheld! Runs cod at 100 fps, fort 150+ fps, hogwarts legacy around 90 fps. This handheld can run pretty much any triple A game title on low settings.
