I am aware of a few issues that others are having with this device in the forums, but I have had a blast using this powerful little computer since launch. Not many performance issues at all, graphics are beautiful, and the ergonomics are the best of any handheld gaming device I've used. Also, the design is absolutely the best of any device on the market right now. Great buy, would highly recommend for anyone who wants to play Game Pass or Steam games on the go or in bed!

ROG Ally runs games very well, shocking for a handheld. Does tend to warm up a little when playing a high graphics. Buttons feel good and responsive. Overall really good handheld

This was great when I needed it, but not so much when it sat around. I bought this with the intent to step away from the desk more often, and for when I travel. Except I didn't use it as often as I'd like to, the battery life felt quite short, and the shape didn't fit my hands that well (big palms). I ended up returning it, but if you want a windows machine that can play games while on the go--this is a great option!

Fantastic handheld pc. It runs everything from steam to my game pass games as well as streaming my PlayStation games. I use it to play eso when I’m not near my desktop and it works great. The fans do get a tad loud but I’ve not experienced any overheating or other similar issues. It’s just great to be able to take a huge roster of games on the go. The docking station that you can get along with the Rog is also very handy. With being so portable it makes being able to dock the Ally to any tv or monitor a cinch.

Something about playing video games on a dedicated gaming device just makes it more fun for me. I already have tons of steam games and this can run all but the most poorly optimized (struggles with a basic RTS called Northgard that it should be able to run haha). I just beat Elden Ring on this thing. It's great! Just be sure to buy a bigger SSD, you can even get an adapter to allow fun size NVME SSDs which are way cheaper.

Since receiving the Rog Ally Z1 Extreme, I've had no problems with it. I have not tried using a SD card for installing more games as of yet, so I cannot rate the handheld when it comes to that, however the console high-end games perfectly, and I have had little to no issues. It truly is a great console/handheld computer and I'd highly recommend buying one. As a matter of fact, I've recommended it to a family member, and they intend on getting one, and he has recommended to a friend and they have already gotten one as well.

I have the Asus ROG ally and the steam deck. I love both because there's room for both of them if your are a gamer in my opinion. The things that separates the ROG Ally are the 120hz resolution and windows capabilities of playing all PC games. I didn't give 5 stars due having issues with my 1tb micro SD card after a few days, the issue unfortunately does exist. I did install a 2tb SSD card to over come the previous complaint. Overall The Asus ROG Ally is a great quality portable gaming PC.

Great device that is really good for on the go. However the issue with that is the battery life is terrible!

It's great, you get a fast APU and great specs at the expense of battery. I wouldn't reccomend to anyone looking to play in enviorments where you cant find a wall outlet though. Armory crate which is the Asus version of big picture mode on steam isn't the best, but going into control panel and disabling fast startup for windows will fix almost all the issues you hear in other reviews. Once the device is setup and you tweak the fast startup option its a great expirence.

This device has been super fun. I am excited for more things like this to continue to improve

The initial startup is kind of a mess. Keyboard didnt work when connection to wifi so i had to use a dongle and hook up an actual keyboard. 2+ hours of updating just to get everything up to date. I really love the design of this handheld, but software needs way more work. Performance is fine, though i wish it was better. Its a neat device but if you alreadyhave a steam deck just keep that. I personally dont think this is worth the upgrade. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who doesnt like tinkering!

You must change your in-game settings to fullscreen and 720p. Then, make sure you push the little physical button on the right to bring up the overlay menu and make sure RSR is enabled. Your game will run at the at 720p upscaled to 1080p and you will get significantly better FPS since the gpu is only actually rendering 720p. This is how you get better FPS. Using this method, I was playing Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on "High" settings and getting 60+ FPS consistently. I did notice a few dips on the FPS when I was in-game in an outdoor environment and it was raining for example but it was barely noticeable since the screen has VRR.

I have been using it on steam and xbox with no issues with gameplay and feels good but put in mind that its a handheld so it wont run on the highest settings and playing AAA games will make the battery die faster but wont take long to recharge it. My only issue is when i got it, it was dead and while on charger and starting it up the keyboard wouldnt work till i restarted it again and it overheated while on charger the first time but was good after so idk if it was just me or device issue. only had it for 2 days with no other issue and have been using it nonstop but im not someone who has other devices like steamdeck to compare it too.

Got it on sale for $599. DEFINITELY worth that, no doubt about it. Has run every game I play at medium or high graphics settings, 900p resolution, and always 35+ fps. Most games I average in the mid 40s. Highly recommend going ahead and upgrading the SSD straight away before installing games to make it faster and simpler. I used a 1tb SSD and can store plenty of games. Heck of a unit.

Works very well and expands the enjoyment of having a computer that is mobile. Works so well when away from home.

Love the machine and the graphics are amazing but the battery life leaves me wanting more.

Works really well. Havent had any issues yet. Only complaint is battery life. I can get about an hour when playing diablo 4.

Have had this for a while now and it still Performs great on most of the titles I want to play. The older model had its issues but it’s been since fixed on the newer ones.

I purchased an open box ROG Ally that has been considered good condition on the grounds that I will have a companion device that serve both my gaming and music production. I came knowing that there are issues with the SD card reader and the UI with Windows not being the best OS for a smooth gaming experience. From this… oh boy, did I fully underestimate the issues with this device and my overall customer satisfaction. What I did not expect is me trying to get this device repaired not a month after I owned for a potential battery or processor issue after power reset errors from gaming plugged in at 30W mode. What I did not expect is how this happened just outside of the 14 day return window. As I wait for potentially a month for this repair, I reflect on the issues folks have been getting and I am baffled by 1) ASUS quality control being lackluster and 2) Best Buy having the audacity to apply a 14-day return window for a device THEY know has a lot of issues. I honestly don’t know what could make this right, but I definitely don’t feel good with ASUS or Best Buy. ASUS for its history of being unreliable company when it comes to customer support and service. Best Buy by sticking to their guns with a hard return policy for a product with quality issues. I am not happy with this product from an experience standpoint. Get a steam deck or a Lenovo go instead. If buying PC components or a laptop, avoid ASUS.
