Best handheld device in the market, buy one and play on the go

The ROG Ally is a great little device. Whats keeping this a 5 star product is the hardware issues. Asus poorly designed this device. It fries SD cards, with mine i had to RMA after two months because the left thumb stick only inputs up and does (known defect). The process to get this swapped out is terrible. If your device defects past the 14 day return window, bestbuy will not help you even though they have a deal with ASUS to handle RMAs. Best Buy will only send it to Geek Squad and you wont see your device for 15 days. Geek Squad was rude and was angry that I followed ASUS instructions to wipe my device before sending to them. They asked "how are we to test it if you wiped your device?". Just beware the head ache of your device defects.

Ive had it for a few monfhs and ivs been loving it i will say 512 isng enough storage so i upgraded to 2tb!

The Ally is a pretty neat little device. As more updates roll out this thing will have the optimization I think many gamers are looking for. Compared to the Alienware or the ROG Big Rig I custom built it can handle solid 1080P graphics and I average 70-80 fps on the really GPU intense games like Dead Island or CP2077. The option to dock it and connect keyboard and mice through Bluetooth is nice. If you are trying to game on a budget I would recommend this. If you are looking for something a little more powerful for the price point stick with a Ps5.

Play whatever whenever battery life and heat are the only issue and for me that is no issue at all

i was scared to buy an open box product, but everything works great. The refurbish department did a great job with it.

The product is good but would be better with more storage. There are aftermarket mods to allow for a 2280 SSD m.2 to be installed which allowed me to put a 4tb m.2 into unit for more storage on the go. The low rating is for asus support as I purched a open box and get my receipt e-mailed to me. The previous person registered it to them. I contacted support case # N2401027429 about transferring registering to my account sending them a screenshot of the e-mail forwarding them the e-mail along with pic of the box and unit with serial number clearly visible but all I get is sorry this is not good enought or we see you sent this but we can't see it. So think twice before buying a open box of asus product or any asus product as it might be hard to get good support from asus.

This is a machine that is going to age like fine wine. Amory Crate still needs work but Windows is not a hindrance. Just keep expectations in check. Its not going to run Cyberpunk full blast but Im not looking to play a game like that on a 7 inch screen anyway. Its nice to know that if I tone it down I can though. Ive had absolutely no problems with my Ally that would have damaged or corrupted the system in any way. Been using it since day one. Armory crate is the only thing that really needs work still as of 7-19-23. Buy it and game away.

Got this to add to my handheld gaming device collection. I find myself using the ROG Ally and Steamdeck the most out of all of them. Anything I play on the switch or PSP or the Vita or other emulator based handhelds can be playing on the ROG Ally, since it runs on Windows, most things are click and play, sure a few games might need some tinkering but its definitely not a dealbreaker.

I bought this for my girlfriend last month <3. She was asking for it for months (she’s a technology/gamer girl) & I was finally able to get it for her & her reaction was so cute!!! It looks super cool, the lights are sick & the travel case is really flattering. She legit takes it everywhere. My best gift for sure!

Really great graphics. Had joystick failure first week. Best Buy was GREAT about exchange. No questions or hassle with the replacement of new console. I think Microsoft could employ a few less updates and there would be less bugs but that’s above my pay grade. Very satisfied with the ROG

Device worked amazing overall, the only complaint I had was the battery which led to its return.

I Love it, i also have a steam Deck really like both, I'm afraid of using an SD card though, but i only bought it to play Destiny & COD MW2

If you're looking for a nice handheld that plays pc games and functions as a mini handheld pc this is an amazing device to have, you can play simple indie games, or play all your triple a games such as god of war, spider man, or anything inbetween, not just that but you can also set it up as a desktop. All you need is an adapter, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and you're all set to do school work or browse the web. Theres alot you can do with this device, i wouldnt recommend it for children since it really is just a portable handheld laptop/pc

I had an absolute nightmare trying to setup the Ally. Initially couldn’t get the keyboard to pull up in the window setup. After restarting it worked. Then when I was setting everything up I kept getting armoury crate errors during the windows setup. After finally making it into windows everything was good….. until it wasn’t. After updating the Ally I went to enter my pin and it gave me an error saying my pin was unavailable and to setup a new pin. I just changed my number on my microsoft account so it was asking me to enter a code sent to my old number to setup a new pin… My only option was to reset the ally because everytime I pressed the back button to try and login to a different microsoft account to setup a new pin it would kick me back to the enter pin screen. I ended up having to hook up a keyboard and getting to the recovery screen to reset the ally. After finally going through everything for the second time. I installed updates and the ally kept going through a continuous boot where the thumbstick leds would keep turning on and off. Had to hold the power button and manually power it on to get it to boot correctly. Once it booted guess what happened AGAIN! I got a message saying my pin was unavailable again befofe I even got the chance to try entering it. Needless to say I’ll be returning the Ally. What a massive uneccesary headache and waste of 5hrs of my time trying to get everything to work.

Great buy. Awesome handheld for a multitude of games - loving taking Destiny 2 on the go and of course rhe hige libary of old amd new games.

I brought it for my grandson and he loves it. He calls me at least 3 times of week to tell me that I am the best grandma and he loves his gift.

Love it! It's Really a handheld gaming computer that works great. cons would be of course the battery life

Awesome display. Battery life is so so but the performance is quite good. Diablo on it is slamming!

Have had the Ally a little over a month now and I’m in love.. The ability to bring AAA quality games with you where ever you go blows my mind constantly. Have been rocking Baldurs Gate 3 with my buddies and it handles very well with a few tweaks. They have sites dedicated to helping you find the best setting for your games to run well too. Best purchase in a while!!!
