Well for the first few weeks I had none of the issues people are speaking about (stick dead zones, bricking, updates breaking random things. I launched a game earlier(medieval dynasty) and played for about 90 seconds before the whole thing froze. I had to do a hard reset. Once it booted back up, Windows as a whole was acting wonky. Everything was loading extra slow. Touch screen wouldn't work. Explorer (Windows folder system) would not launch for anything. Finally got the touch working again. Still issues with the rest of windows. I updated everything and still nothing. Tried to restart and it sat at the restart screen for a good 5 minutes. I finally got curious and took the SD card out. It immediately restarted and Windows ran perfectly. Reinserted the SD card, and the problems started again. Come to find out after trying it on several computers in my house, the Sd card is fried. All this the morning after an update that was suppose to increase the fan speed to reduce the temps and prevent this. Outside of this, the device has been great. All I can say is don't use an SD card with this. Spend the extra money of you want more storage, get a proper m.2 ssd that's higher capacity, clone the drive and put it in the device.

Very fast and runs smooth. i love having a portable gaming pc when i get go out.

Fantastic device, I've used it both on Windows and several alternative Linux distros. Battery life is what you'd expect from a handheld PC, not too bad for the power you get. This model I hear is much more worth the money than the non extreme model, but I can't confirm that myself as I don't have one. Joysticks are very nice, all buttons are tactile and feel good, even after months of use. Can't go wrong, though be sure to update your BIOS and operating system for the best stability.

I was initially worried about taking on a windows handheld but if you’ve had any experience with a Windows PC, youll be fine. It is a bit more involved than a Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch but the power and flexibility you get in return make it worth it in my opinion. Being able to easily play Steam, Epic, XBox/Gamepass, and GOG games and have them all show in one library is fantastic. Never thought I would be able to play most modern AAA titles on a portable but here we are.

I absolutely love my Ally. I have bearly even used my desktop since I got it. Gaming has been great and even work productivity tasks do well.

The first one I bought came with a dead charging brick. I had to exchange the whole thing and get a new Ally. As far as the unit itself, it worked as intended for the 10 days I had it. I ended up returning it and getting a Steam Deck OLED. Yes it less powerful but it feels so much bettter in the hands, has a better screen, the build quality is superior, and I’m not constantly worried about the Ally breaking (many issues have been reported) and having to deal with Asus support. The Ally, for me, felt rushed, cheap, and unfinished. While I didn’t have any major problems, other then the charger, and 512GB not being enough space, for the price, the thing doesn’t even come with a cleaning cloth or a case. I also got tired of using Windows in such a small device. Using the touch screen to set things up or change settings got old fast. The use of the mouse with the thumbstick is just bad and clumsy. The battery life is terrible as well.

Fantastic device, it delivers on all fronts. The battery life isnt great but other than that it can play anything easily. great purchase.

Great product screen was very clear and amazing handled anything I threw at it. My first handheld system and I enjoyed it a lot!

Pros: 1) Excellent screen & image quality; 2) Impressive performance in a small body; 3) Comfortable to hold. Cons: 1) Windows 11 performance; 2) Hit-or-miss ASUS software integration with Windows; 3) Bootup problems caused by software updates. I’m giving it 2 stars becasue the hardware is truly impressive. However, I don’t think the software has matured enough yet. I had this for exactly two days before experiencing a continuous boot loop that prevented me from even entering the BIOS. I had to let it rest for 24 hours before trying again. It seems to be working fine now, but not a good start. I plan on returning this product.

The device itself is amazing, great most games but the battery life last about an hour at most.

this is an ultimate gaming console.checks all the right boxes in terms of power, user experience.I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the Ally – the performance capability combined with the Windows OS was really appealing, but I’d never used handheld PC before and my own experiences with handheld gaming devices has been mixed. I have about 15 to 20 hours on the Ally so far, and I’m overall pretty pleased and impressed.

Excellent product, I can run all my dark souls games, destiny, grounded, gta 5, Xbox games pass games on the go with really good performance

Overall a very comfortable and responsive device. Sometimes in turbo mode it gest a little noisy but the gaming experience is very fun! I had consoles before but I prefer this device because of it's portability and the cross-platform games you can access from a PC. I think there are some improvement opportunities when connecting external controllers and screens, it gets tricky sometimes and you may lose some time with the configuration settings. I strongly recommend to buy a docking so you can connect HDMI ports and USB devices.

Love this! It’s so nice to have an easy travel option and for when I just want to game really fast. Super powerful and love the design.

The Ally provides exactly what it advertises. For the portability and weight/size, the performance is outstanding. The wifi capability is fantastic. I do mainly play with the device plugged into its power source to have best performance. With the Ally running Windows 11 out of the box, it feels like a true PC experience on start up. ROG does provide their own interface however I find starting up games directly through steam tends to run smoother. The Ally will only continue to advance as technology allows

This handheld is a beast. I haven't had a problem playing any games on game pass or steam.

I have both the Steam Deck and I have this. The reason why I like this more is for 2 reasons. The first reason is that I am not just limited on Steam, but I have the entire PC library at my disposal. But I don't find myself playing games as often as I like, but more using this for business related stuff. It's much easier to transport this over my laptop so I use this with a USB Type C hub. Some people hate the Office options with this, but it's perfect for me because I was able to get much more achieved with this.

Amazing machine. Yes, the updates take forever but it is Windows-based, and that's just what Windows does. Watch a guide on all three areas the ROG updates to ensure you are ready to go because once you are ready to go this thing is a powerhouse. I can remote-play my PS5 and it's perfect, I can play FFXIV online and it runs amazingly, and I can link up Steam, Battle.net, and X-Box and play all my game libraries from one device.
