This console REALLY needs an extra heatsink, because it will get VERY hot on the back while its in Turbo Mode, and the only way to get higher than 30fps is to be in Turbo Mode. Works great for being a portable windows device, but many of the higher end games will only run at 60fps if you keep the resolution at 720p.

This thing is amazing. Im always on the go and barely have the time to game on my pc anymore. This is the perfect console for me. Now it may not be for you as this is windows 11 and its got bugs and issues (sd card error, updates, etc etc) but if your not scared of a few bugs and are willing to put in the effort, this is a perfect device for on the go gaming. Just make sure you know what you are getting into

I have had this device for over a year now and have had no issues at all with it. Almost perfect. Looks better in my opinion over the new X version. For the price this can now be had, this a the best bargain in handheld gaming PC anywhere.

Solid upgrade performance wise from the steam deck. Play at 720p, upscale to 1080p and it runs mostly everything with medium or higher settings /30fps. Vrr low cap can also be changed easily from 45fps to 30fps. Battery life isnt great, as to be expected 1hr 25w. Display is excellent, controls feel very nice, and the machine is about as lousd as a gaming laptop under medium load.

Absolutely love this pc! Its great for on the Go gaming I love playing persona on it.

I have been loving my ally so far. Runs all my games with no issues. Great for someone who is on the go or wants to relax in bed.

The ROG Ally is a great handheld device running windows. Decent Battery Life, amazing screen. Lightweight and incredibly portable.

It is a great gaming machine overall. I was EXTREMELY reluctant to buy it because I absolutely did not want to deal with Windows and all of the challenges, bugs, tinkering, etc. that comes with it. For that reason, I was much more interested in the Steam Deck. However, since getting this, I have actually not had any problems with Windows. It has been smooth sailing in that regard, surprisingly. There were a lot of updates at first, but that was fine. Overall, I am happy with the device. BUT, there is one HUGE caveat. There is a big issue with the microSD card reader and as of now (September 2023), the issue still has not been fixed. Basically the SD card slot is unusable for a lot of people. One of the features of the device simply doesn't work at all and that is unfair to consumers. People have found workarounds and that's great, but consumers should not have to do that. Promised features of devices should actually work. This is not asking too much. So, I cannot give it a 5 star review while this issue persists for so many users.

Amazing purchase, handheld PC gaming made easy and accessible. I get great battery life playing indie games and emulating my old games. Perfect machinr for playing through the first 15 Final Fantasy games (3-4 hours of battery life on all of those games) and even handlea FF16 and the remakes well albiet with ~1 hour of battery. Only other downside for newer games is the limited storage, but streaming games from my dedicated PC tower helps both the battery and save on onboard storage.

Can run red dead redmeption 2 at native resolutin and combination of medium/high (with ultra textures) at 60 fps in performance mode. Also enjoying diablo 4 at 60+ fps in my desired settings… windows can be a pain, and the software is new.. so you kind of need to be patient.. but the support is there and I believe the device will only get better with time. Havent ran into any issues that resukts in unplayable gaming, just need to learn how to operate it while its in the early stages. Excired for the future of the ally

It was a great gaming machine. But battery was disappointing.

I bought this for my girlfriend last month <3. She was asking for it for months (she’s a technology/gamer girl) & I was finally able to get it for her & her reaction was so cute!!! It looks super cool, the lights are sick & the travel case is really flattering. She legit takes it everywhere. My best gift for sure!

Bought this after the steam deck failed. Which I never wasted money on the steam deck.

Worth every penny in my opinion but the “sleep” feature sometimes freezes my game and I get reverted to my last save. Which can be a lot or not that much so it can be inconvient. As far as battery life, its okay, best I can put it, like it drains depending in what you are doing about a percent a minute and it’s dissappointing but I never have 100 minutes to play everyday and I play for 15 min-30 min increments and thats where the processor really shines because boot times are less than a minute I love that, but 600$ is a lot of money at the end of the day and the question being is it worth it is honestly up to you the buyer to decide because it’s use for various settings and I personally use it for work and at night sessions when the mrs is asleep so its good for me but it has its pros and cons.

Pros +powerful gaming handheld +can multitask while gaming +cool looking and decent ergonomics +can run emulators like a boss +can play pc games 1080p (30fps on AAA) Cons -software a bit buggy and awkward at first but might get fixed -windows might not be for everyone -not a full console experience like the psp , ps vita or nintendo switch -still needs software updates since its a bit of mess

It's great and runs really well. Four stars because the LED lighting in one of the joysticks glitches.

Incredibly happy with the ally. Its a cross between a laptop and a gaming tablet. Its very obviously geared towards PC gamers, so if you arent familiar with steam or windows gaming, it'll be a little difficult as its not made like a nintendo switch. If youre willing to put the effort in to learn it, its an awesome handheld that you can also use as a mobile PC if you connect a wireless keyboard and mouse.

After readijg all the reviews both positive and negative i decided to give this a try. I absolutely love it. I didnt run into any issues with my device. Its been a blast and i sold my gaming laptop. I travel a bit for work so having this on the go has been a real treat than lugging my laptop around with all the components as well. If you are familiar with gaming on desktop/laptop windows then this should be a rather easy product to use. For what this product can do the price is actually decent.
