Capable handheld that can do desktop duty

It plays most games at good frame rate and is a good device for people who want to play PC games but don’t like keyboard and mouse. It is comfortable and good for playing on the go.

This thing is a beast for gaming really had no issues so far... Love the fact i can sit in bed and just game... Saving my pennies up and uping it to a bigger ssd so i dont need a external drive to play all my retro gaming... But overall great device

My only complaint is I think I have one with the SD card issue. Hopefully, it’ll be fixed soon, but I’m not really too worried because I plan to upgrade the SSD.

Starfield runs fairly well on low settings. Call of Duty MW3 runs great online and usually gets around 100fps. More demanding titles may not play as well. But for what this is it is worth the money.

We do understand your disappointment with the ROG Ally and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing overheating and issue with the SD card reader slot. To resolve the card reader issue, check if the memory card is working properly and the most current card reader and chipset drivers posted at: https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-2023/helpdesk_download/ . If you are experiencing overheating while gaming is normal. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. You can reduce this overheating by tweaking your hardware and performance mode setting using the most current version of the Armoury Crate utility. Furthermore, update Windows, drivers and the BIOS if outdated. Additionally, if you are playing these games online, ensure this handheld device has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system stability and performance. If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. Good unit for on the go gaming

I also like that the power button has a fingerprint reader. It just would have been nice to have a trackpad like the Deck and Legion Go have.

I purchased this product today and will be returning it tomorrow. I gave it 8 hours of play time and followed everyones suggestions on updates and settings for optimal gameplay. Within 8 hours my system restarted 4 times on its own or was shutting down programs by itself. I noticed a little drift on the left analog stick. Battery life is what it is, about one hour without charge but expect frame rates to drop fast and the system to struggle while running heavy games like spiderman. I really wanted to like it and for this to be my new handheld system. There is still a lot of work to do. I look forward to seeing how much better the technology will improve in the future. This is just the start.

Better than any gaming laptop!

I also use the dock to connect a keyboard and mouse and I am able to complete work tasks as well. Highly recommend. Cant wait for ROG ally 2

I play Baldur's Gate 3 on it with the highest graphics and it runs it perfect. I have also played many other games on it and have had no issue with the Alley. I got it on launch day and would highly recommend it to anyone.

It plays diablo 4 no issues, armoury crate is better than i expected, and its pretty comfortable in my hands. I can see where someone whos not very tech savvy might have some issue getting everything setup, but for someone who plays pc games and messes with different handhelds it should be no issue.

I have the ROG m16 laptop so a lot of the software quirks I’m used too. Games run smooth within expectation, screen is amazing,120 hz is very nice. Can’t say enough good things hardware wise but definitely needs some useful software updates from windows and asus soon. Overall great first handheld gaming device

DON"T PUT AN SD CARD INSIDE. PLEASE JUST REPLACE THE SSD AS A WHOLE BECAUSE YOUR SD CARD WILL FRIED WITHIN A MONTH !

I love being ab le to run all my windows based installers like GOG and Battle.net to play almost everything I play on my desktop. Gamepass streaming gaming on this unit is incredible as well.
