This Christmas present was a MAJOR hit for my guy. He’s incredibly picky with his tech and he LOVES this. He said Diablo 4 runs better on this than on his Xbox and has already gotten two more games.

The ROG ALLY is absolutely amazing. Love this device. It has its issues but it is definitely a nice alternative to the steam deck and other handhelds especially at this price point. Definitely would recommend if your into the handhelds.

I knew when I got the Ally that I'd have a couple hours of setup time. Updates, ensuring I had all the necessary drivers, getting rid of Office, etc. That was fine. After day 1, I had almost two full days of being able to use it without incident. Then the updates started and it seems like they never. let. up. I keep it by the bed to play if I can't sleep. I turn it on...plug me in so I can flash the bios. Really? That's necessary? I try another night. Windows has updated. Restarting. I use it when I work out, plugged into a dock. 2 out of the 5 times I tried to use it, major updates that took 20 + minutes. It's freakin' annoying. Yes, I could probably turn down the frequency, but honestly, they ARE necessary updates by and large. But it would be nice if they slowed their roll on how often they come out. When you're not staring at an update screen, it works great. Plays Cyberpunk well on battery. I've had fun with it. But those updates...and the fact you have to be plugged in for them...it's JUST about a deal breaker.

ThexAlly is so much fun you wont be disappointed. Its amazing how much they packed in to a handheld. Only downside is somewhat short battery life depending on what youre playing. On turbo mode an hour goes by very quickly.

Still have my steam deck- first game on the Rog Ally - MW2 - ran at 90-100 fps 1080p Turbo mode. Setup is not that bad- relax people.

It’s unfortunate I have to give the Ally One Star because I was looking forward to it so much. They hyped it up beyond belief and honestly it was a blast while it worked for a week. If you want to have a handheld device with the standard 512gb of storage and run AAA games or emulators, you may have to offload and load a few games at a time but this will do it for you. It was great while it worked. It was a real shame when I took all the time setting up my emulators, even bought a very expensive 1tb SD card, and then after a few days of playing, the Ally fried my SD card and everything on it. Completely FUBAR. Not only that but Asus support was no help and told me I am SOL on the SD card despite them admitting the Ally has thermal issues doing this to a majority of users. This isn’t just my unit, EVERY ROG ALLY DOES THIS. If you play a game off your SD card and use a higher Watt power profile, it will destroy your SD card. So now what, I am out the 100$+ on my SD card, and Asus will RMA my device but it’s still not going to fix the failure every device has. Such a bummer because I was truly looking forward to using the Ally but I might as well return it and get a Steam Deck which I know works. And the customer support of Steam is actually helpful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool device and I was willing to look passed all the software glitches and imperfections but Asus may want to cut their QA department after this one because they didn’t test the Ally well. They relied on paying YouTubers to test and review it for them, who obviously missed some key issues. My advice if you’re keeping the Ally, get a 2TB m.2 to upgrade because Asus completely neglected the SD slot and there is nothing they do to fix it.

It’s a good concept, I liked it till the left joystick wasn’t working properly. Then comes the updates like Microsoft updates and driver updates were so many in the time I had it. Plus I feel like it had to be perfected a bit more. And then comes the external GPU that is proprietary which is such an apple move, they could have just given an egpu option without the astronomical price. The battery life is not that great. As I said it’s a great concept but needs to be perfected. Might be better on the 2nd or 3rd gen.

Amazing product runs all my games on the go with ease

My last handheld console was the PSP and I thought maybe handhelds are a thing of the past, until I got this bad boy. I did not realise what I was missing out on. I travel a lot, and let me tell you this has been a game changer for me.

Have had for over a week and have lived every min with it. Took a little bit to get started and games loaded but the ROG Ally is the perfect portable gaming system.

The software on this is perfect! Seamlessly swites between desktop and gamepad controls, and even frame rates, resolution, and power settings. D-pad is HOT garbage though.

This thing is absolutely amazing. I have had no issuee. I know some people have though. Upgraded to a 2tb hard drive and got the xg mobile dock. This thing has literally replaced my consoles and desktop. It also goes everywhere with me.

Second system needs a lot of updates on everything. I think once it properly optimizes will be the best handheld. But I do like it so far oh and that battery life is horrible.

Well, during launch was just an absurd performance issues with the bios/firmware mainly due to version 319 that limited the FPS to 30 from 120. I had several times factory reset this 4-5 times taking over near 2 hours. This is because of how the performance was affected with the external display and using my own usbc dock, with either HDMI or DisplayPort. The offices Rod hdmi adapter and charger was sold out for a good several weeks. I had tried non asus brands and one asus brands and it has limited to 30fps. It was a headache. And there so much details and other occurrences that happened buuuut… there’s a new firmware update 322… and a new AMD software update, and armoury crate update … everything runs like a dream with the exception of prolly a bit Louder fan noise on turbo mode. But all is good.

Go for the extreme. Graphics are amazing did such a little device. Gonna uohrade the storage later but man this is literally a gaming PC, as a handheld.
