After having this for a couple months I really enjoy it. The battery life could be better. But I do like how I can play almost everything. The screen looks nice. And it feels good in my hands.

Capable device for the money but SD reader broke

Very handy device to own. I use it frequently as a mobile computer with keyboard and mouse accessories. Gaming on this is convenient and sufficient in performance depending on your settings and the type of game played. I use remote streaming play features with steam on my desktop computer and it works well. The one negative feedback is that my devices and card reader stopped working like many others having experienced, there are no real solutions and warranty repair is your only option, however it could happen again and again. I decided to purchase a USB split dongle so I can use a portable SSD to store extra games while playing and charging.

Yes, it has its problems but so many positives its easy to overlook some of the some items lacking. Great screen, great graphics, great hand held device easy to use. External monitors hookup with docks. They also have an external GPU which is expensive but great for high end gaming on a big screen. You get the best of both worlds with this device if you have the money. Better than the steam deck, switch and others in just about every way. I would highly recommend this product great so far feels like a pc in your hands Frame rates are the best for a hand held that I have ever had plus games are the best looking out of any handheld. so worth the extra costs. Downside more expensive.

This was a lot more powerful than I was expecting. Great alternative for on the go gaming. Battery doesn't last as long as I'd hoped it would but I prefer to stay plugged in anyway.

Got this from Open Box, it was in *perfect* condition, and as a device, this is the best purchase I could have made for 400-500 dollars. Excellent performance for the package, and to this day, far removed from release day, it's still one of the best performers out there. Battery is a bit short. Actually, really short. on 25W, necessary for AAA gaming, you'll get 45min-1h. I recommend using 17 or 18W, where you get 80% ish of the max performance, but battery will last you closer to 2 hours. Problem being that for harder to run AAA, this means you'll not have 30+ fps. Anyway... I love this thing and I'm SUPER excited for the future of handhelds because this little guy is a BEAST as it is.

Great device for on the go gaming. Packs a massive punch. Battery life could be a bit better, honestly not on par with laptops, if you're trying to game on a flight.

Great system, do not use SDXC cards. Otherwise a fabulous machine with a gorgeous screen. Battery life is a bit on the short side but that is to be expected for a system of this power.

I freaking love it! I have a steam deck and its a great handheld, but the Ally is superior in a lot of ways. The Ally's controls, power and weight are the main plus for me, but the only downside is the windows 11 bloat and slightly janky UI. Overall thought it's a fantastic purchase and I would personally recommend it over all the options if you want a great handheld PC at a decent price point.

I wanted something I could play video games more on the go and not be tied to a desk. I tried the switch and that didn’t do it for me. I enjoy the ergonomics of the device, the screen is sharp and bright, speakers are great. Yes the battery life isn’t great but for the performance and capabilities of this device that’s to be expected. The fact I can play games seamlessly but also use it like a portable windows machine for my streaming services it’s a very capable device.

ROG Ally play almost any games, but should you?

This is pretty much the smallest PC as a hand-held but not your average gaming Console. The positive side for running Windows is the ability to play your PC Windows based games on the go, even more of a plus when getting the ROG Ally is the 3 months free of Microsoft Ultimate GamePass. The Ultimate GamePass lets you play a library of free PC games. This really allows me to try games before deciding to purchase certain game titles later on. After the 3 months, you will have to subscribe monthly to keep using the Ultimate GamePass and continue playing those GamePass PC games. But there are other game platforms on the ROG Ally to get free games and does not require subscription. Such as Steam, Epic Games, Origin; the list goes on. A search online will set you on your way how to get almost any game to play on the ROG Ally. But just because the ROG Ally can play almost any game, it doesn’t mean you should. Remember this is a little Gaming PC that can, but not all games will run smoothly or have a smooth experience; for an example, it is possible to run VR games on the ROG Ally and Wirelessly connect to the VR headset, but doesn’t mean you should. So be prepared to surf on the internet how to really take advantage of what the ROG Ally can do for you. Initially anyone getting the ROG ally for the first time, it is vital to update Windows/Armory Crate/and run ASUS’ software. Look up on the internet on how to keep the ROG Ally Updated and what to do to better the performance. There are a few things the ROG Ally needs to do before playing your games. The 512GB internal storage will run out when you accumulate a library of games. Upgrading the M.2 SSD to 1TB or 2TB is worth it and the process is easy. But be prepared to spend an extra $100 to $250 when shopping for a new m.2 NVMe SSD 2230 drive. The battery life on the ROG Ally is not ideal for long gaming sessions. So keep your charger close. The cable of the charger for the ROG Ally is a good length. I like the ROG Ally for Casual Gaming around the house. I enjoy Quick online multiplayer sessions. The screen is beautiful. The speakers are amazing. When the ROG Ally is Connected to a TV with a keyboard and mouse, you have your full PC setup.

Fantastic gaming console if you want a handheld that can play most of latest games. Having native windows makes it a lot better since I’ve used windows all my life. I got open box excellent and have no complaints. Everything was there and it was all packaged nicely.

First this device is not for me the average Joe. You need to realize this is a computer just in handheld form. For this device to work properly you need to get all the updates, including the bios updates. This device has a lot of customization to mess around with. At first my rog keep freezing up but once I downloaded the updates and tuned things to my liking it is great. The biggest downfall is the battery life it last about 1 and a half hours unplugged.

Works well, playing Diablo 4 smoothly, very occasional lag. It runs windows, so you are able to install and run anything that you can on a normal PC. The only complaint I have is the default fan curve. If you run it with the default fan settings, the upper left and right of the touchscreen gets HOT! I set a manual curve, and the temps are much better. However it is definitely noisier with the fans adjusted. But the speakers do a good job drowning out the fan whine at a normal volume. Great product, just be aware of that one issue.

Pre-ordered and received on launch day. So far this thing has been incredible, and as someone who held off on buying a Steam Deck, I am glad I waited. This thing has no limits to what it can play, unlike the Steam Deck, and is about 2.5x stronger in general than the Deck. The 120hz VRR, 1080p display, dual fans, and dramatically smaller and lighter frame, make this a clear winner over the Deck in every way. The complaints about ergonomics are just weird, as this thing is very comfortable and easy to hold. The Ally can literally replace every electronics device you own, aside from your phone, and it does it very well. Highly recommend, especially if you don't already own a Steam Deck.

This device is a beast compared to the Steam Deck. I have played Diablo 4 extensively on the handheld and everything is buttery smooth. I also have a coinops retro build that includes tons of arcade games especially Japanese shoot em ups which is perfect. Setup was a pain but other than that its been a blessing. The battery life is decent at best. The illest part of the machine is the screen which is doper than most handheld screens I've played on. No need to upgrade for years. Love my Rog Ally daily played.

The only things holding this handheld computer back are the battery and windows 11 not being great for mobile devices. But windows also means you can install whatever you want with no hoops to jump through. I've been playing Starfield on medium settings with only the games glitches to complain about. I also think they should add a hard point wrist strap so that you can't stumble and drop it if you're carrying it or prevent someone from snatching it out of your hands and running.

This where i do 80% of my gaming for the last couple years. Absolutely love it. My only complaint is that the SD card slot does not work which is apparently an issue with the model I have. Could have submitted it to be fixed, but seemed like too much effort.

Sound stood out to me as an audiophile, compared to the Legion Go or even my Razer Blade. Screen looks sharp and performance is as solid as the Go. My only gripe, and the reason I use my Go over the Ally is the overall feel and screen size. The ally feels cheaper, more like a toy than a handheld console.
