Solid performance for size. Great screen with variable refresh rate support. Really good use of Dolby Atmos on the speakers or with headphones. Really shines for games a few years old but can play modern games at lower settings at good frame rates. It is a full windows PC and does require setup like any desktop or laptop. Gaming on a PC can be a bit more advanced than consoles but this is well worth the tinkering.

The Asus ROG Ally is everything i expected. It runs better than the steam deck at higher fps with a better screen. However as expected with the power usage, the battery does not last as long.I will say that this is not meant for console gamers. This is basically a pc and this switching from s stea deck, xbox, switch, or Playstation will have a tough time figuring it out unless you know your way through a computer.

    Awesome handheld gaming PC

This thing is awesome for PC handheld gaming. This thing is a mini PC that runs surprisingly very well. Now granted, I always play plugged in. I’ve played a few times just on battery and you’re lucky to get an hour of game play. You probably have to set all of the settings to low. I can’t play like that. Storage sucks but I upgraded the SSD on day one.

Love this thing so far. Allows me to play some great titles on steam and Xbox live. The many customization options and the features are awesome and the sound is superb.Gaming has been smooth so far and the performance is great. I wish the battery held out a little longer.

Haven’t touched my desktop since buying this. I get that most people would be horrified by this fact, asking “What the hell is wrong with you?” Weirdly enough, I’ve discovered that I MUCH prefer handhelds over sitting at my desk all day. Pros: Display is beautiful, runs pretty much every game (including Baldur’s Gate 3) at a decent or amazing framerate, and you can use any preferred game launcher besides Armory Crate — personally, I prefer Steam Big Picture. The RGB under the joysticks are customizable and pretty rad to look at, and since this is windows, you can install anything a gaming laptop can. Cons: the battery life is, frankly, abysmal, but personally it doesn’t bother me that much since I game in bed next to an outlet. Windows, more often than I’d like to admit, adds up small annoyances like the gamepad mode going in and out, windows updates at inconvenient times, and having useless applications like Microsoft Teams or Excel (for some reason) pre-installed. Also, Microsoft Edge. Also, for the price, it’s disappointing that a case isn’t included with the handheld itself. There’s also, strangely enough, no proper sleep mode. Overall, the cons I listed aren’t that big of deals to me; just something I hope are improved on in the future. This has still been an utter blast to play on, tweaking here and there aside.

This has some serious potential but has many flaws (probably due to it being a new product). There are major deadzones in the joysticks and the SD card reader did not work. The screen quality and overall gaming performance was better than expected though. I ended up returning the item due ti the deadzones and sd card issue though.

Bought this to play games on the go and while the wife watches TV. This is basically a PC in handheld form. Although small, dont be fooled. This thing is comparable to a PS5 in term of specs and playing games like Tomb Raider and Fallout is amazing on the go. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Also, iy can run steam, gamepass (PC version) and all other store fronts

It might not have the bigger battery or the more ram/V ram, but it’s still super super cool to have everything on the go. Especially with this specific product the Z one extreme check will handle anything you want on the go. The screen is fine enough just wish it was a little bigger, especially with those big bales. Nothing bad to say about it.

Pros:Versatility: PC consoles offer the best of both worlds, combining the power and flexibility of a gaming PC with the convenience and form factor of a traditional console.Graphics Performance: With high-end GPUs and CPUs, PC consoles can deliver exceptional graphics and performance, often surpassing what's possible on dedicated gaming consoles.Game Library: You have access to a vast library of games, including PC exclusives, older titles, and the latest releases on platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and more.Modding Support: PC consoles often support modding, allowing players to customize and enhance their gaming experiences with user-created content.Upgradability: Unlike traditional consoles, PC consoles are highly upgradable, allowing you to swap out components like GPUs, CPUs, and RAM to keep up with the latest hardware.Cons:Price: PC consoles can be more expensive than traditional gaming consoles, especially if you opt for high-end components.Complexity: Setting up and maintaining a gaming PC can be more complex than using a dedicated gaming console, which is designed for plug-and-play simplicity.Compatibility: Not all PC games are optimized for controller input, so some games may require keyboard and mouse usage, which can be less comfortable for console gamers.Hardware Variability: The performance of a PC console can vary depending on the components chosen, so it's essential to research and invest in quality parts. Conclusion:A PC console is an excellent choice for gamers who value performance, versatility, and access to a vast game library. While it may require a higher initial investment and some technical know-how, the ability to upgrade and customize your gaming rig can result in a top-notch gaming experience that's hard to beat. However, if you prefer a more straightforward and budget-friendly gaming experience, a traditional console might be a better fit.

I absolutely love my ROG Ally. I pretty much use it for every. Obviously i game on it more than anything. But i use it for everything else as well. I use it for online college classes, editing videos and programing my racing drones on the go. I got rid of my xbox series s and my gaming pc and just use this. Get a dock for it and hook it up to your pc monitor. Good to go!

Super useful device for playing indie games and helping clear out your backlog of older AAA games. If you're more technically inclined the ability to stream to it from your main gaming PC is great.

I'm loving my Rog Ally It's essentially a hand held laptop to play all my games. i had choice between this and steam deck. however i'm more comfortable with window 11 than linux so i chose this. the Ally is also more powerful than the steam deck. the only major fault i have against the Ally is the horrible battery life. however the Ally does combat that weakness with fast charging.

So I really like this handheld so far. I have not had a steam deck so I can’t compare. I instantly pulled out the 512gb and installed a 2TB. This handheld is able to play AAA games. It runs on Windows 11 so they say if it can play on windows it can on here. The only draw back that i see is the little battery life, which i knew going into this. The only other thing is you have to like to tinker with it to get it to run to your liking. Its easy but not as easy as a Nintendo where you cplay without tinkering.

I fell in love right away with this baby, I love the feeling of setting it up, doing some research of what to do to get more fps, how to optimize it, etc, etc, though for a lot of other people which I think is the majority can go with the wrong impression of this being a normal console that you push the power button, select the game and start gaming, this is totally different, this should be treated as a mini pc with joysticks, there's a bunch of things you have/might want to do in order to get the best out of this, you need to download a bunch of launchers and stores in order to play your favorite games and have this updated on a regular basis to get the best performance, a lot of times you have to do sometimes you have to get creative and do some hacky things in order to play games if the games are not optimized to be played with a controller. I would seriously recommend this to a select group if people who are pc enthusiasts and that have some experience with common issues a pc can have and to be able to be on top of the glitchy and buggy things you might find. It's a powerful little beast.

Workhorse of a PC. It’s basically a laptop in a handheld form. Windows could be set up a little friendlier to select what you need when in hand held mode vs docked. Just wish it had more RAM and battery life. The left stick was a little loose and I’ve already upgraded the SSD to a 1tb unit. A little awkward in the hand, could be more ergonomic hence my purchase of a grin to fit better in the hand and not cause cramping.

The perfect gaming handheld with only one downside. This will play whatever game you want and look beautiful while doing it. The only downside is the battery only last 4 hours at best and usually 1-2 hours depending on what game you play. If you purchase this make sure to get a power bank also that can output 65w+ for when you're not near an outlet.

As a dad its hard to find time to sit down and play a game. When i do game its typically not more than an hour. The ally is oerfect for this! Ive been playing gamepass, steam, WoW, PS remote play and more. I got it on sale and recommend you do too. i also picked up a battery just in case. Battery life is typically 90 minutes.

I bought this after doing much research on a handheld gaming portable pc. I do own a Nintendo switch oled because i only like to play on handheld mode. Its my preference in playing the switch but i wanted to play better triple A titles so the Asus ROG Ally is the perfect fit.. i chose the Ally over the steam deck because i do play on the xbox and the Ally uses Windows as their main web base platform so it was easy to continue and play some of my xbox/pc titles on the Ally. For those of you who have never even played on pc, like me, getting used to the Ally's menus wasnt that difficult to navigate through. You can still download other apps, like steam, EA, Ubisoft, and so on, to play other titles that arent on the Xbox game pass, which youll need in order to play on it. If you alreasy have an xbox game pass account you can just transfer it onto the Asus. The Asus is smooth and quiet running. The battery life can vary depending on which titles you play. Play something like Starfield and you're looking at around a little over an hour of play. If you're someone like me that just likes to play around the house, then this is for you. You can plug it in to get extra graphic power on those drmanding games. If you want it to play out on the road then you will have to lower its power and resolution to save power. For storage it can come with 512 gigs but some of the newer titles can run up past 100 gigs. You can buy a sd card or upgrade its ssd drive but that'll require to take apart the Ally and install yourself, if your comfortable with that. Its not difficult but you will need special tools.
