Don’t recommend the official case since it won’t fit the charger with it. Abut great finds on Amazon. Also battery life is very low for high spec games. Great performance on high battery or plugged in but may be slow for really graphic titles. Great community support for game optimization.

Have had this for a few months now and I am in love! Of course there are some bugs here and there but overall performance is amazing! Love having the windows experience at my fingertips. It was great on several trips I took so far. I bought a couple external battery’s and I ah e been good to go for hours! Would definitely recommend!!!

Picked this up June 21st and I'm loving it so far. Plays most games in my Steam/Epic/GOG/Xbox libraries. Even newer AAA games that advertise requiring 32 gigs of RAM like Forspoken are able to be run at low settings for an enjoyable experience. Haven't tried emulation, but I'm told it handles PS3 and Switch emulation with ease. Great buy, frees up the TV screen so i can play my Game Pass games while my wife watches her shows.

Never had a hand held before but i seen this one long before i bought it. Im a semi truck driver and i wanted to game without bringing the entire setup this did the trick the most demanding g a me i played was the new red dead redemption. Take some time to get use to the navigation because its literally a small computer and not a steam deck that limits you to only games.

This is the perfect machine for Game Pass on the go! I've been using it on each of my frequent 6-hour flights, and it's been a breeze to use. Battery life is on the short side, so I got a chunky power bank to almost triple it when I cannot plug it. Also, keep in mind that this is a Windows machine, so the first setup is a bit cumbersome with a small screen and no mouse, but you'll only experience it once, hopefully!

I love my Ally! The only downside for me is the battery life if you want to play graphics intensive games. High wattage and high frame rates will drain your battery in less than 1 hour. I recommend a 65w portable battery, or do the battery upgrade by Jsaux to 65w battery.

Coming from a Steam Deck, there are some pros and cons. Pros- Plays almost anything Fast and powerful Cons- Software needs work Battery should have been bigger I would recommend this but know that you will have to do a little work to make everything work well. If you want a console like experience, steam deck is your best bet.

This little machine is great! I love that i can play not only my ste games but my xbox games away from home without having to stream them or rely on a good internet connection. Feels good to hold and not to heavy. Only negative thing but is expected with these handhelds is the battery life. Its always smart to carry something around with you to charge it

So I have had a steam deck since release, I haven’t wanted to touch it since this came out, it’s more comfortable to hold for long gaming sessions, the screen is way nicer, the quality can be left higher in most games, and the end result looks and plays at higher fps than my steam deck in almost everything, add to that it runs full windows so any non Linux comparable steam deck game is much easier to deal with.

Run game the a champ. Got a fair openbox but turned out to be like new to me. Battery last 1-1:30 hour with 15- 20W mode. Been playing Spiderman medium/ high setting (no RT) with 70-80 FPS. A nice device to playthrough the backlog

Excellent piece of hardware! Some of the pro's about this device are it's form factor, portability, and the accessibility of it (it runs Windows, and therefore most games via whatever launcher/DRM is required is no problem, unlike other popular handheld gaming solutions). It's incredible how fast it charges with the included charger. Cons... Amusingly, also that it runs Windows. The core experience with Windows isn't well suited for smaller screens and no keyboard such as this device. This is easily mitigated by 90% of my time spent via either Steam or Launch Box launchers, and rumor has it Microsoft is working on a software solution as well. And of course there's always windows updates to have to install! In the nearly month that I've had it, I have been able to game more frequently than before, because of its portability. I picked up a couple accessories to help with that, including a large backup battery that supports 30 watt output so I can game with maximum performance even on the road. On the note of accessories, it is trivially simple, and supported by the manufacturer, to upgrade the hard drive. As a new device, accessory selection is pretty limited at the moment, but in the next few weeks hard shell cases, skins, and other replacements such as joysticks are due to be released. The 3D printing community has also created some interesting solutions such as customized back paddles, port covers, and stands. Bottom line, despite the price, I would highly recommend this device to anybody who is generally too busy to game, but misses it.

As an owner of both the Steam deck and ROG Ally, they both have a perfect fit in my daily gaming needs. the 1080p screen with 120 Hz is perfect on the ROG. Call of duty runs really well and looks fantastic. It stays cool due to the two fans which I wish the steam deck had. I don’t like the back buttons on the ROG as much as I do the deck. Overall perfect for the price and it’s very comfortable in the hands.

You need to know your way around a PC, this is exactly what it is. I haven’t had any issues with mine so far. This is by far the best handheld PC I’ve ever owned! FAR superior to steam deck, in my opinion. The screen and resolution is superb d/t high PPI. Even in 720p with RSR on the games look gorgeous! The 120hz and Freesync is a game changer. FYI: if you disable 120hz in armory crate then you automatically disable Freesync.

    Get the Ally X

Consider the black model with better performance, battery life, and storage instead of the base white model with the z extreme chip. The 1080p/120hz claim is achievable only with the 65w wall charger. Without an outlet, play on low settings under 60fps for about an hour and a half on a full charge. The Ally X model is a worthy competitor to the Steam Deck. The base model is disappointing.

      Dear Robbie,

      Thank you for your feedback.

Indeed, the ROG Ally X or the black version offers significant upgrades in performance, battery, and storage over the original white ROG Ally model, a larger battery, more storage size, faster RAM and improve ergonomics and design.

Workhorse of a PC. It’s basically a laptop in a handheld form. Windows could be set up a little friendlier to select what you need when in hand held mode vs docked. Just wish it had more RAM and battery life. The left stick was a little loose and I’ve already upgraded the SSD to a 1tb unit. A little awkward in the hand, could be more ergonomic hence my purchase of a grin to fit better in the hand and not cause cramping.

Amazing handheld gaming PC. I preordered and have not been disappointed. It plays well, but being a PC it only gets a few hours of battery life at most. This is to be expect for what it is. If I'm gonna be playing it somewhere and I won't be able to plugin a bring my power bank that has USB PD 3.0. I also own a Nintendo Switch OLED and the Ally is actually much more comfortable to hold although it is heavier.

I love this device! Does it have issues? Yes. Is windows far from perfect? Also yes. But overall this is a great little device, and its great to be able to play my games on the go. So far my experience has been overall pleasant. Set up was a pain, and I do get glitches now and then, but I still am happy with my purchase.

It’s been pretty awesome having this all my friends and I have been playing hell divers too and fallout four on it. It is amazing. I’ve steam on it and I’m also able to play all of my Xbox titles on it. It is a fantastic portable gaming device and if you’re ever on the go or traveling, I definitely recommend it!
