I kept being indecisive about it, but the end i believe it was worth it. The idea of carrying your games, from Steam or EpicGames, while being on the go is pretty neat. The fact that is not just for gaming is neat too. I personally didn't know how it worked, i was expecting something like the Switch OS, so the fact this is a small computer is great. Some will say just buy a laptop, but honestly i don't want to carry something that big, so this perfect. It is newer, so plenty of years before it becomes obsolete. The only complaint I have, and I read about is the battefy life.

The ROG Ally is a great handheld gaming device. It can run many triple A titles at lowest settings. Black Ops 6 is able to run 1080P 60fps. Battery life could be better though.

Had it for a year and it’s been playing games great. Battery life isn’t the best but it’s alway best to play indoors rather than outdoors. You can definitely pair it with a good power bank and a 40w wire so you can get some extra battery life.

I love this thing. I am primarily a console gamer, and occasionally played switch and was looking for something more powerful that was hand held. The ROG Extreme delivers. I did purchase the lower end model initially and it was returned within a day. The upgraded one is def the way to go if you are looking to play Triple A titles. Any game I have throw at it works flawlessly (Fortnite, Palia, Dead By Daylight, Texas Chainsaw etc) From cozy games to MMO the ROG Extreme runs it flawlessly

Amazing device, i bought it roughly a month after launch. It is super capable to play many diffrent titles on steam and Xbox. I took advantage of THE 3 MONTH Xbox game pass too. The latest updates that we have recived for this device has improved the UI and gaming experience. Once you find that sweet TDP watt setting this device will deliver 60 plus FPS with a nice temperature in the 60s. I still havent ventured into the dock system to make it a console. I definitely recommend this device, especially with all videos on YouTube for alot of helpful tips.

After having to have my first unit replaced because of faulty joysticks (which seems to be the more prominent issue with early shipped units), and from the small time I had with it, it shows promising potential. It DEFINITELY needs more software polish. Armoury Crate can get buggy at times, specially when switching from gamepad profiles. Windows can be buggy at times, which is par for the course with Windows. I think this device exhibits more issues with Windows because of all of the overlays ASUS had to bake in. My biggest 3 gripes are the lack of carry case or pouch, the terrible cheap "stand" that's included in the box and the charger. They could've included the other version of their PD charger along with the USB C to C cable. Making the cable part of the charger is the most annoying thing manufacturers do. Also, what's with shipping units with outdated software that requires hours and possibly another computer to set up. What's this, 1990?

Incredible that portable gaming has come this far. Looks and runs great. Plays everything ive ran on it very well. One knock is battery life on demanding games and the worst thing aboutcit is the "included stand" ive seen better quality packaging than whatever this stand is made of. So get yourself a case with a stand ot a dock and a battery bank. Works great with game pass too.

Rog ally is a beast! It plays many titles really good! I play Diablo flawlessly! It runs like an actual computer so you can take it anywhere and use it like a tablet/laptop When it comes to games I used it to play mostly Diablo I connect it to my hotspot on my phone and it plays with no lag When I have to type a report I connect a screen to it and keyboard / mouse and type away! It has almost replaced my gaming computer and def replaced my Nintendo switch hahahaha!! Bad part about it you will need to update the storage asap! But it is not hard at all

Almost a 5/5 for myself, I'm a enthusiast PC user (have been for 15+ years) and it ticks all the boxes for myself in terms of performance and use cases. I can play Diablo 4, Call of Duty MW2, Darktide, Wow. It's a beautiful device but my only gripes with it are the short battery life (to be expected), and the touch screen experience can be a bit frustrating. All in all I can play metal gear solid 4 on a plane... You just have to set it up.

I really love what they've done with incorporating Windows 11 on this device. I felt like setting it up was a little bit of a chore, as I had to use an external dock to get the keyboard to work so that I could enter all of the information in. But now that I've created a restore point I've installed all my software and I have everything set up, this device is really solid and really makes me happy that I purchased it. If you're going to go with the steam deck or the Ally focus on if 120 HZ is important to you or not. Something to consider with the steam deck is if you actually use a broken Max or some sort of usb-c glasses device it may actually not make sense to get the Ally because then you can actually use your glasses with the steam deck for a lesser price. I got my Ally because I already have the steam deck and I really wanted to try to find out which was the better device. My verdict is that the steam deck is the better device for low poly games and for General use, any Ally is more of a PC replacement. If you mess with the fov adjustment in the Oculus settings and make it slightly less you can actually play some VR games on the Ally using the quest link and a dock that has 3.0 USB compatibility. I recommend the Ally if you've got more money to spend and are looking for something that replaces the PC to a certain degree. I recommend the steam deck in cases where you are looking for something easy to set up and more user friendly with software updates. I have both and I think they both serve a really good purpose. The screen is phenomenal on the Ally because it has freesync and you can mess with the settings a little bit more using the AMD software center to get the AMD card to totally get configurable whereas in the steam deck you really have to rely on their drivers. However if your smart like me and you put Windows 11 on your steam deck this is not an issue because you can actually put the AMD software Center on it by installing an extracted version of AMD adrenaline for a different driver. I think that both serve a really good purpose and that the Ally is trying to be more of a PC with gaming capabilities out-competing the steam deck and that the steam deck is trying to be more of a dedicated gaming device for Valve to sell more games. The steam deck has an entire community of people who build software for it whereas the Ally has a couple things you can do but it's really more of a Windows 11 decice, more generic but not in a bad way.

Picked up this beastly handheld Pc release date and haven’t put it down since. It’s armed with a Z1 extreme processor which can handle all of your gaming and extra curricular needs. It’s smooth to operate and use on the go, its performance is on par with some new gaming laptops. It’s smaller and more silent than my Steam deck. Most importantly it can play pretty much any game I throw at it, out of box. Some have been having a not so great time with certain units being defective. So far that hasn’t happened to mine it’s pretty much been a perfect experience.

The amount of technology in these hand held gaming devices is unreal. Theyre awesome for people that travel alot. I use this when im away from home at work and keeps me occupied when i have down time. The kids love it aswell. Lots of games available and being able to use xbox and steam is awesome. Only thing i wish was better was the battery life but i have a battery pack for that so it helps.

I had some pretty high hopes with this machine and it seriously has not let me down. With everything compact into this little device is mind blowing. Its so nice being able to just lay in bed and play the games i love such as Call of Duty, Apex and even smaller games. You have to mess with the settings here and there but the ROG Ally is worth it. Honestly my only complaint is the extensive setting up and updating. My kids even love it and think its the coolest thing.

Awesome purchase. I was on the fence for a while about a handheld PC. Even made a video saying that you should a year before this purchase. I am happy I did. Easy to install SteamOS on and haven't had any real issues. Only had it for less thsn a month makes gaming so convenient. I can game anywhere with this thing.

My first portable gaming console. Hats off the Asus for this one! Gaming desktop/laptop on the the palm of your hands. This amazing and and intricate work of asus to put quality and performance of a desktop pc into this very portable handheld system is an amazing feat. What else can I say I just absolutely freakin love it!!! What are you waiting for go get one and tell me it’s not the case. You got the believe me it’s worth buying for!

Based on sale price. (Would be 3 stars at full price) Needed a replacement for a Chromebook and a Switch. This thing clicked all boxes for me. Not the most powerful device out there, but it can handle anything I throw at it. Mainly light gaming and work stuff (non-tech industry). Definitely worth a look if you don't plan on gaming at 4k and need a hybrid set up.

Overall I think this is a fantastic device and it is currently the most powerful handheld on the market even beating the $1,000 devices from overseas. If the joysticks were full size and hall effect I think it would go a long way. I would also love to see a bigger battery size because it does deplete quite quickly seeing as it is x86 architecture. This is the quietest handheld I have ever used also when even at turbo plugged in I cannot hear the fans. If you or someone who is not into tinkering or being patient with PC updates you are probably going to have a hard time at first but everybody else that knows what they're getting into is going to have a great time. I personally do not see this as a steam deck killer but I don't think it needs to be, I'm just happy more options are coming and companies like AMD are making chipsets especially for this kind of portable gaming. The software still needs probably another few updates but I'm impressed with what Asus has brought to the table.

Great handheld, I replaced my steamdeck with this. The display is miles better and it's lighter but I will say the ergonomic handles and layout of the deck were better and the simplicity of steam OS over windows clunkiness on a handheld, BUT I'll take having the option to run games outside of steam verification and steam altogether is worth it to me, plus it's more powerful, and that display...

Works perfect. I purchssed mostly for game streaming and light gaming, but i was surprised at how powerful the Ally really is. I havent found a game of mine yet that i cant run nativley at 60+ fps at 1080p! Older games or more optimized games will run better of course, but with the tinniest of tweaking you can even the most demanding games running perfect! As a whole id say the Ally is an 8/10 and points are only really deducted for Windows being a pain here and there (all stuff that could grt fixed with updates).
