Great and powerful device. Requires knowledge of windows and it is not a very good pick up and play like a Nintendo switch. Be prepared to tinker with this device until you have it set up how you like it. Great for emulation and runs triple a games very well. Screen is nice and vibrant. Controls are solid overall as well.

This handheld has excellent performance as compared to the stem deck now I don't feel limited by performance as I did the steam deck The only downside is that it destroys the battery. When playing on performance mode it lasts about an hour. Most of the time I stay plugged in.

Great handheld, beautiful RGB lights, good screen, and it’s easy to set up. You can customize a lot about the ROG, like how you can change the mode of the ROG for just browsing to save battery, or for more extreme games. The only bad things about it is the battery life, it can last for about an hour and a half before you need to charge it.

You can play the latest games in this powerful device. Without any issues you can play very heavy games like god of war Ragnarok, call of duty Black ops 6, war zone. And any video game you could ever imagine. PS5 or Xbox it doesn’t matter you can play everything and very smoothly too. You gonna be surprised on how powerful this little device is. My only advice is to understand how the device function. so you can adjust the device performance to what you really need. At the end the device has no limitations. The CBU and the processor is very powerful you literally can use the device on other heavy duty applications other than just gaming.

The Asus ROG Ally is better one of the best handheld consoles I have ever played. I can play any PC, Xbox, and most of the PlayStation games on the go, with excellent graphics. The battery life is not that great, but overall, it is amazing. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

I am happy with my purchase and would recommend. I bought to play InZoi and the gameplay is nice. I can use my USB to stream to my TV for larger screen play. I also play XBox Gamepass and Steam games. The fan does stay on gor a while however once cooled it will turn off and stay off. The batterly life unplugged is short, but plugged up is recommended. I do wish the battery life was longer unplugged, you may get 1 hour of gameplay unplugged. Overall, im happy with my purchase.

I'll mention this beforehand. I have the 256gb Steam Deck and now the Ally. Both are very impressive devices. While the Deck's hardware is good enough to run most stuff, installing anything from other launchers/services will be outside the standard user's comfort zone. The ROG Ally has fantastic hardware (seriously, these guys outclassed the very impressive soundstage of the Deck) but it is glaringly obvious that Windows is just not designed for these kinds of devices. The software workarounds make it more manageable, but the downsides of Win11 are pretty obvious. It is great being able to easily install stuff from other than just Steam, but the entire experience overall suffers. The team at Microsoft needs to realize that these types of devices are here to stay and could be on the forefront by developing a Win11 for pc-based gaming handhelds. Still let me install all my windows based stuff, just make a dedicated UI mode and streamline navigational features. However, UI optimization woes aside, the ROG Ally is a fantastic handheld and will only get better as time goes on and patches/upgrades come out.

It's not a console, it's a small portable computer. It's best for someone who likes to tinker with settings as it's not plug and play. You'll have to work with settings in games and with power settings put to get the right balance of power/performance and battery life for your preferences. I do recommend the steam deck over this for users looking for more of a Nintendo switch/console experience. If you have a Windows 11 gaming PC already this will work for you. I'm only a month in, haven't used my SD card other than to store games to transfer to the SSD, so as of now mine still functions. I only use custom fan profiles and never even let it hit 90c. Honestly with fsr 3.0 it's going to come in clutch with more demanding modern games. My one con would be that the joystick tension is a little floaty for my liking but I'll stretch the spring or get third party ones at some point. Let me add that you can not just upgrade the joysticks to the magnetic hall effect ones without some extra work as the hall effect triggers that come in the ally cause interference. Honestly anyone with very basic skills could replace their sticks if they were to wear out. I'm very happy with my purchase, I'm sure the next iteration will fix any if the short comings.

Great performance, comfortable to hold, and beautiful screen. I'm using it to play older games like Batman Arkham City, and it easily stays at 60fps on the Silent (10W) profile. The folks over at ChimeraOS are hard at work getting the SteamOS experience on the Ally working seamlessly and it'll probably be fully functional in 3-6 months. Great now, and will only get better with updates!

If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, but it’s just not quite a 5 star win. The screen is amazing and the speakers sound great. It’s generally quiet enough under normal use but the little fans can get loud if you are really pushing it, but not loud enough to overpower the good little speakers. The complaint’s that I have are minor, and are related to the joysticks and ABXY buttons. The sticks have too little tension for my tastes personally, they are very light, it would be nice to have a little more resistance to them to be more in line with Xbox/PlayStation controllers, and the ABXY buttons feel a little loose which makes them noisy and feel kind of like a cheaper 3rd party controller than a premium handheld. Neither issue is a deal breaker though, and I get plenty of use out of the Ally, enough so that I came back in and added accidental damage protection just in case. Would be better with 1tb storage and a bigger battery, but an sd card makes up for some of that and upgrading the storage is easier than competing devices.

Playing all my games at 40fps and up with mods and getting games at a cheaper price compared to consoles has been amazing. Only concern is the heat at times but works like a champ. Love handheld gaming and definitely putting it to use constantly. Playing my ps5 less and less. Hoping for updates to fix some issues (heating with sd slot). But otherwise It’s amazing.

If you’d like to play AAA games on the go and not be limited to what titles you can play then this is it. Very powerful handheld and can be used for much more than just gaming. I would recommend getting a 100watt power bank to go with it. The battery deff needs improvement but this device is just the beginning of true handheld experience. The steamdeck pales in comparison.

The Asus Rog Ally. Ascenscion in a box right at your local Best Buy. Just two short weeks ago, I didnt know anything about the Ally. Now Ive got a docking station preordered, a USB C hub for use literally anywhere, a pair of Rokid Max AR Glasses, I even got a little shoulder strap case made by JSaux designed specifically for the Steam Deck and Ally. Over 500,000 units sold in the first two months. While you probably will see some open boxes for sale and hear about people returning them, what most people dont want to admit is that the Ally is a full-on Windows 11 PC, and theres a bit of a learning curve if youre coming from a console and expect a similar experience. You need to perform all the updates from Armory Crate, the MyAsus App, and finally Windows Updates. You need to set a custom fan curve, the fans work well, let them do their job! After you do these things, its time to play and this thing is playing nearly every game I throw at it tear-free. That is an AMAZING accomplishment for a handheld device. Lets just say I will definitely not be returning my Ally, and plan on enjoying it thoroughly for years. If you are looking for a mobile gaming option, you found it. I put a 4 on the controller only because I prefer my dualsense edge, its perfectly capable of being a gamepad and also controlling Windows.

Now I can play my steam and xbox games on the go and with Window i can download more game launchers expanding my game options. The problem with it is that the battery life I had to charge it more than 5 times in 2 hours. So if you want a to buy one I recommed it but if expect a short battery life

The ROG Ally is very powerful for a handheld computer, but it's held back by the Windows operating system. If you're someone who is looking for a console-like experience where everything just works almost all the time with no tweaking from you, this isn't for you. Get a Steamdeck. However, if you're willing to dig into a system, tweak some settings, and do a little troubleshooting, the ROG Ally is a great choice. Battery life is short. Get an high-capacity battery pack if you're not going to spend most of your time playing near an outlet. And the internal drive it comes with is only 512GB. Bite the bullet and upgrade to a 2TB drive. You won't regret it (ASUS publishes instructions on their website on how to upgrade the drive).

The ally can play pretty much any game I throw at it with max settings, it’s very responsive and I love that it runs windows unlike the steam deck that is extremely limited. The only issue I have is playing any game that uses more resources than skyrim kills the battery very quickly when not plugged in.

I purchased an open box ROG Ally for a terrific deal at Best Buy, and even though the hardware itself is fantastic, my experience wasn't quite as portrayed. When it was shipped to me, I noticed slight cosmetic damage… in other words, some scuffing on the bumpers. This was disappointing because Best Buy's description assured that there would be absolutely no cosmetic damage. In addition, the Windows installation had not been properly reset, so I had to manually reinstall it myself before the system was operational. That aside, with the extra work, the device is working well and functioning as it should. I just wish the description was more accurate and that the initial setup was done correctly. I do not know if this would have been possible for someone with less experience with windows. I would like to note that all of my issues were most likely with Best Buy and NOT with the product itself, it works well and I could not ask for a better handheld for the price.

For those looking for a handheld gaming experience without breaking the bank, this PC is worth considering. It may not have all the bells and whistles of newer models, but it's a capable device that can still deliver a great gaming experience, especially with older games and indie titles.
