When I got my steam deck last year I was blown away at what the device could when it came to running nor only new games but emulation. After spending a little over a week with the Rog Ally, it makes tge dwck obsolete, just like the steam deck made the switch obsolete. What a beast of a handheld and also a beautiful one as well. And it will only get better with time.

Love love love my ROG Ally. I’m writing this review after having it now almost four months. I haven’t had any issues like some others have had with the SD card etc. It’s amazing to be able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldurs Gate 3 at 1080p and medium to high settings and having it run smoothly.

It surpassed my expectations as I regularly game on a desktop gaming rig. This thing is a little powerhouse. It runs my entire library on the go. The picture looks fantastic. Easy navigation and controls, and runs on Windows. It fits great in my hands, and the touch screen is a bonus. 10/10 for me.

I have had the ROG Ally for over a month now and it is fantastic. I have not had any issues with it and the performance for how compact it is great. I did upgrade the NvME drive to a 2TB a few days after owning. I own a Steam Deck as well and is good but it cannot do things the ROG Ally can do. I can easily recommend this device to anyone on the fence.

Like having the option of having my PC games on the go and not having to carry a second laptop. Setup takes some time and linking accounts and initial updates take a bit of time, definitely take the time to update everything when you first start up.

It’s a really good product to use and able to play a lot of your games easily. However, be aware there’s issues at launch such as bios, SD cards being damaged, freezing on optimization, armored crate etc. if your still planning on getting worth getting it when the bugs are fixed

I bought the ROG Ally as a portable gaming tower that I could take on the go, paired with a 6850XT Mobile that I could use at home for a bit more performance. The hardware is awesome. The software is horrible. The battery life is also horrible. Windows on a handheld device fails miserably, causing absolute chaos on my system. Armory Crate has plenty of issues, and the process for pairing with the 6850XT Mobile was painful. While docked performance was fine, the battery life was horrid, making it. a non-starter for my longer commutes to Boston. I wanted something with a bit more power than the Steam Deck. This has the power, but not as much love and care as the Steam Deck does. I think with that love and care it can become better than it, but it is absolutely not there yet.

For $450 with free travel case, I believe this is the best deal currently on one of these handheld gaming consoles. You get the Z1 Extreme processor and 512gb of ssd storage so it will hold a decent bit of games and actually be able to run them. Order a $50 micro sd card and you can easily add an additional tb of storage. So far, I love it. However keep in mind the limitations of APUs in general. While I’ve yet to boot up a game it wouldn’t run, you may have to turn settings down and more than likely rely on some of the AMD upscaling features such as FSR, RSR, and ASMF

I have thoroughly enjoyed this device. Perfect condition. I came from the steam deck and let me tell you this has played every game that I have wanted to and been just fine. Don’t use the micro sd slot because I upgraded to 2tb hard drive. Would buy again!

The ROG ally was exactly what I was looking for: a capable but portable gaming PC that can double as a productivity machine when hooked up to a keyboard, mouse and monitor when I am traveling.

Overall this thing is nice. It has great graphics and I have had no problems with it freezing up or anything. Battery life could definitely be improved though but can be mitigated by turning down the resolution and FPS.

The Ally is a powerful handheld for pc gaming. Easy to use, fun and convenient. Only downside is out of the box it wouldn’t play half of my games before having to google and look up for a couple of hours how to fix.

A very capable windows handheld. One downside is battery life when playing the more demanding games. Another is windows. If you want a pick-up-and-play device, look somewhere else. This took some configuring and learning to get perfect. But that configuration was well worth it.

Love the rog ally its a computer made as a handheld. Only problem is the battery runs out pretty fast any tripple A game you play will always have difficulty in fps and longevity of the battery but i dont have a problem with it since i usually carry a battery pack with it.

Good quality and nice feel in the hand. Smooth play.
