    Absolutely Amazing

Its blown me away. Of course there are always areas for improvement but its like having an ultra portable gaming laptop essentially in your pocket (if you wear 90's jeans).... It takes some time to get things set up right, and the more you use it the more you'll find tricks to increase both performance and battery life. Having access and ability to play probably 95% or more of all PC games ever created, combined with the fact it has full blown windows and feels like a desktop when docked, the ability to play emulators effortlessly, AND be fully portable, its one of the best devices I've used in my entire life. Just 10-15 years ago we could easy have entire gaming rooms set up just to play the games this one device can. I didn't expect to be impressed with this and got from best buy to take advantage of their return policy. But there's no way Im taking this back.

For whatever else I will say in this review, if you're even thinking about it or in the market, go buy this product. Lets start with cons, a 8000mAh battery is nothing for a device like this. Sharing system memory is never the best. Software needs some improvements, specifically a way to share profiles for games. It tends to deep sleep without your noticing it. Pros, FAST. Blazingly fast in. Pretty, it looks good. Screen is amazing. Price is competitive in the market space. The fact that it's a Windows 11 PC under the hood means that you will have a wider array of online gaming options than the Steam Deck because of Anti Cheat. Easy to access all of the different DRM's you use for gaming. The ASUS name brand is not just for show and is a major plus when compared to all but the Steam Deck. Let's be clear, this is not a perfect device and this will continue to evolve but, for what this is, for what it can do. It's an amazing device. If you are selective with your game choice (don't try the newest AAA titles) and your expectation, you will find that you fall in love.

It'll need some tweaks when you set up the device, but if you've googled anything about this, it is a new competitor to the Steam Deck. Make sure to give the ROG Ally a good health check before you toss the receipt, mine had lines across the middle of the screen indicating a possible faulty video display, the second one has been much better. Overall it has been a pleasure to play games on. Battery is awful, but you have a portable Windows gaming machine, so if you are near a power outlet, keep a 65w+ charger handy (anything less will still lose battery, but slower than just battery). Worth picking up if you don't have a Steam Deck, just don't expect the Ally to play AAA titles at ultimate settings. The 720p screen helps a lot, but you will be playing lower settings for a lot of modern games. Still a blast when on the couch.

Got this used as the cheapest option and the micro sd slot did not work which wasn’t much of a surprise as that is a known issue on these and it was used. Luckily I don’t need it or have any plans to use it and the docking station I use has a micro sd slot that works. Overall the performance of this to play the games I love for a quick login on the go is amazing. It is almost good enough to just hook up to a monitor and use as your primary pc.

This thing is everything I could want out of a mobile gaming handheld . The screen is crazy good . Even at 720p it looks great due to the size . And it can run any older title at 1080p max settings , and most new titles at 720p max , or 1080p medium . It honestly blew me away I thought the performance would be much worse . Cyberpunk at ultra 1080p with no ray tracing gets around 40fps . Drop it down to 720p and you can put on ray tracing . This is only when plugged in . Off battery it will run any game at 720p max settings . Even the silent mode will run every game on low/medium , some old ones even on high like Skyrim . The battery life is not great , but I leave mine plugged in my car to an inverter and it works great between uber deliveries and rides . I have no complaints . Best purchase I’ve probably ever made . I love this thing .

So far, after all the bios updates, this thing is a dream. Plays every game in my steam library as well as my epic store games. My main use is emulation. Its a monster. The battery life is not too bad, but could be better. The screen and speakers are excellent. Bright, smooth and loud. I highly recommend.

I am pretty satisfied with the ally. It plays most of my games really well. And while it's not a hardcore graphics processor, it can still play games at lower or medium settings well. If you ever wanted to play Halo on the go, this is your chance. Steam and game pass have worked well with zero issues as of right now. It might be easy to complain about the small SSD storage drive. However, replacement was easy. The chief complaint is the heating and destroying of Mini SD cards and the lack of fix for it. Unknown what they could do since the fans and element is right on top of the sd card slot. Overall awesome system but terrible QA

Very impressive little machine! It plays everything i want it to with no lag. Very easy to upgrade the storage, it's just a few screws and your good. I love the convenience of it and portability. Battery life could be better, but i mainly play it plugged in. Definitely worth it.

The rog ally is a great little handheld that allows you to play triple A games on the go and in the comfort of your own couch. Pro: allows you to play A triple titles on the go. Control of performance on a game vs console which have no graphics control. Armory Crate allows you to be able to navigate the handheld better than using window which is not optimized for handhelds nor touch interfaces. Con: battery does not last that long when play triple A games.Bio updates can either fix or damage the experience of the handheld. Overall, this a first step into the right direction for handheld gaming by Asus. Minus the bio problems and little battery life that the handheld has. But I am sure in the future iterations of this handheld and other handheld this handheld will help guide other future handhelds.

A great little portable machine for light gaming on the go. Battery life isn't great, particularly with graphically intense games, but that's usually not that great of a concern for me since the Ally has allowed me to play more games that I wouldn't have had time for otherwise due to needing to turn on a laptop/desktop and be at a place where playing on those machines is comfortable.

    Asus Rog Ally

Asus Rog Ally is a great hand held. Cones loaded with xbox game pass and the capability to download and run steam games both Online and Offline. 3 modes for power when unplugged and a 30w turbo when plugged in. Games play fairly good. I currently play Diablo 4 on defaukt settings, when plugged in no lag, no rubber banding, no spund issues. Few laggy spots and sound distortion when unplugged on lower watt setting. Battery life is terrible, maybe a hour or 2 when on highest setting. They need to get this to 4 hours of play time on high imo. Buy a couple 20kmah or higher chargibg blocks for extended time, however it must be 65w to 100w output block or it will not charge the rog ally. This is a computer used as a hand held. I wish it had more upgradable possibilities with video card.

I have had the Rog Ally since day 1 and i personally love it. In my use cases it works flawlessly. And as a emergency desktop computer it has come in clutch way tok many times. As far as comfort its just ok could be better. Hopefully the Dbrand case will make the ally amazingly comfortable as it did with my steam deck. Personally its a no brainer for the price, weight and size. Highly recommended.

    Amazing Protable Device

The ROG Ally is an amazijg device. I was able to play most older AAA games at 1080p with medium to high settings and maintain a constant 50 - 60 fps (like Mad Max, Fallout: New Vegan, Red Faction Guerrilla: Remastered, and many more). Don’t expect to play new AAA games with those settings and achige those framerates, because it probably won’t happen. Snd yes its true. The baterry life sucks. If you do intened to play games at that resolution, then youll need to plug the device in. The 120hz display is amazing, very high quality and looks beautiful. Unfortunatley, i ended up returning mine but only because i would get light headed while playing. If youre looking for a portable handheld gaming mechine, i would highly recommend the ROG Ally, but i hope the battery life imporived with updates.

Pros: great screen, good performance, fairly easy to use other game launchers besides steam (such as battle.net) Cons: interfacing with windows using analogue sticks or touch screen isn’t great (really needs a slide panel like the deck), armory launcher is buggy, battery life is disappointing even when not using turbo mode (<2 hours), and worst - no simple and consistent way to put games to sleep for resuming play (a normal windows limitation). I wanted to like the Ally and balanced the experience of using a friends Deck several times. It just isn’t a strong enough value proposition and the screen isn’t enough of a benefit. Maybe in V2.

Much better performance than my Steam Deck - this runs Windows, but personally, I prefer that! With tons of power settings, you can tune it to get very competitive performance‐to-battery to fit your needs. Runs cool, is light, and has a screen that looks fantastic! ASUS hit this ball out of the park!

I like the fact that I can play almost all my PC games on this handheld console. The graphics are nice looking, sound is great. I already have a MSI gaming laptop which the games look and play great on. But the difference between this is that I can play my PC games on the go. There are some tweaks you have to do with settings to play the games. But that’s not too hard. Since this has windows 11, there will always be updates you have to install like a regular PC. Once its up and running, the games play great. I think this item is overpriced at $699.99. I had to return it since it did not make any sense to keep it since I have a killer gaming laptop. But if the price would be at $599.99 then I would buy it. If you don’t have a gaming PC, then you should definitely buy it.
