    The Ultimate Gaming Handheld

As a Nintendo Switch and PS4 owner, ROG Ally is now my main gaming platform. The Ally can play nearly every Sony PC port between 40 and 60fps (which is sometimes better than the base PS4 performance), and the Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox libraries provide thousands of amazing games from the last 30 years at prices way lower than you'd find on any console, thanks to frequent sales. The screen is amazing in everything from dark rooms to broad daylight, and the fact that this is also a Windows computer allows for a ridiculous amount of versatility. Storage can fill up fast, but a 512gb micro SD card can cost as little as $26, and with the most recent update the card should last you the entire lifespan of your Ally. Cannot recommend this enough to people.

The Asus rog is a great gaming system that can run almost all game. It runs full Windows 11. The only downside is the battery life. Other than that, I love this gaming system. It's portable and you can dock it to play on a monitor.

I love my Ally. I use it as a portable gaming pc when I go to my girlfriend’s house I just hook it up to the tv, connect controllers using USB, and play using Steam Big Picture. I like using it for PS2 emulation and single player games. It runs the game “It takes two” that I play with my girlfriend really well. I also use it to play jack box games when at parties, I just connect a handheld keyboard and trackpad remote to control it from the couch.

Powerful handheld that can run most games with good frame rates. Screen is fantastic and variable refresh rate is great for a handheld. Could use more storage.

Pros: -It's powerful. -It feels nice in hand and is lighter than it looks, -Superior ergonomics to the switch, no claw hands. -It runs Windows so no compatibility issues there. Cons: -Chews through its battery when pegged but older games can get away with running on the lowest performance profile so your mileage may vary on that topic. -It runs Windows, with all the downsides that come with that like updates at inopportune moments, login PIN randomly breaking locking you out of your device, etc. -Configurable trackpads like the Deck would be nice.

The ROG Ally is the system I have always dreamed of. This thing is a beast and can play most if not everything you can throw at it with some graphical compromises but, being a mobile battery powered device it's to be expected. Where this thing really shines though is emulators. It can play pretty much every console's library even switch! If you can though Id spend the extra cash on the X for its superior battery life and upgraded ram.

Its a PC in your hands. Operates well, isnt as heavy as i thought it would feel. Hinestly the only downside to this is the battery life, but that can be solved with an external battery pack. Definitely worth it if you like to game on the go.

For what it is, the ROG Ally is pretty good at what it does. This is a hand held computer that runs off Windows 11. You get the opportunity to play nearly any game that runs on windows, but you may not get the smooth user experience thst you’d get with a device that was built around gaming as the center piece. The battry life leaves much to be desired since the highest power mode hsually lends to the “best” gaming experience. One of the biggest perks are you get the opportunity to upgrade the internal storage if you wish and the thermals aren’thalf bad for what it is. The only gripes are the issues surrounding the SD Card reader along with the clubky UI.

I'm thrilled with my purchase of the ASUS ROG Ally. This laptop is a beast in terms of performance, delivering smooth operation in all my tasks, from intensive gaming to multitasking work. The sound is impressive, with quality that truly enhances my gaming and entertainment experience. My only minor gripe would be the battery life, which could be a bit longer for added convenience during long commutes. However, overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a powerful and reliable laptop for their gaming or work needs.

Overall very minor issues with this thing, but if you do your research and you know what you are getting into, it shouldn't come as a surprise. Its great in that it is a fully functioning handheld PC. The UI is a little buggy at times. Games great. Runs AAA titles at a solid 60 fps as long as it is plugged in. When it's not plugged in the boost is ever so slightly lower and the battery is somewhat limited. Next version will have an upgraded battery life. All in all i love it for what I use it for.

This is truly a mobile gaming PC. For heavy duty gaming, make no mistake you will need to have it plugged into power or you might get an hour or so on battery. For less graphic intense gaming (indie, board games, etc) you can adjust power and get a decent amount of battery life. I have been able to run everything I've wanted from Steam, emulators and downloads. It can take some tweaking and playing with settings to get graphics and controls working right, but usually telling the program you are using a Microsoft 360 control will get everything working right. The sound kicks butt for such a small unit. Coming from the switch, the difference is incredible. You can get an accessory plug with monitor and USB connection making this a potential laptop replacement. Full windows functionality. I really have zero complaints.

The only issue that I have had is needing a bigger SSD. The ROG Ally is by far my favorite piece of tech that I own. Being able to take your PC games with you wherever you go is a must. I have played Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, Cyberpunk 2077, BG3, Hitman 3, Balatro, Slay the Spire, and quite a few more. It has yet to have any issues for me. Even modding works with it really well.

Great handheld PC. I picked this up as a used in excellent condition. I have been using this device for about 2 weeks now. The ROG Ally plays all my favorite games with it with out the use of the internet. If I have WiFi I play Helldivers 2 and have zero problems. When I am on the go I have been playing Fallout 4 again and it is beautiful. Only having 512 GB of storage at first felt small, but I don’t play to many games at once. You can easily pick up a new M.2 in 1 or 2 TB sizes and make the upgrade really easily.

I bough this on sale and, for the price, this is a great product. If you will use the handheld exclusively for gaming on the go (e.g. at work or school), I would recommend getting the newer model which has better specs and battery, however, if you will be using this mostly at home or some where you can recharge it often, this is a great product for the price. In my case, I bought this as a laptop replacement. I have a desktop PC at home and I needed a computer to use while traveling. If I had bought a laptop it would have collected dust since I use my desktop PC 90% of the time. Instead, I bought this handheld PC and use it with a docking station and a portable screen to make it a portable computer. I also use it for gaming at home when I want to take a quick gaming break or before going to bed. I have played different titles (Halo, Rocket League, RDR2, etc.) and I have not had any major problems with it. This could also be used as a console replacement, using a docking station and connecting it to a TV, but it's probably a better option to get a gaming console.

Disclaimer - I play both console and PC games on a regular basis, but I'm not a hardcore gamer. This is more of a casual gamer's review. With that in mind, I'll say that this product REALLY impresses me, especially the screen size and ergonomic design. I can play on this for hours without my hands feeling cramped or tired, and I like the screen and design much better than other handhelds in its class. *BUT* there are some important things to know before you buy. One is that you can't really play for hours unless you're plugged in. The high-performance mode of gameplay is only going to be active while you're plugged in to a power supply. When you're not plugged in, performance does suffer (it's a slight change to me, but hardcore gamers will definitely be bothered by it), and you also only get about 1.5 hours of gameplay out of it when unplugged (maybe 2h if you're lucky). Another major downside is the lack of ports. There's a headphone jack and it does have the ability to connect via bluetooth, but there is only the one USB-C port. You can plug in devices (I use AR glasses with mine), but you can't plug the Ally in to charge while anything else is plugged in to it. You need a very special adapter to be able to do that (I tried a handful that didn't work, so do research before you waste your money). Lastly, and to some people very importantly, the Ally is famous for burning through SD card slots. I'm not 100% clear on whether it burns through the cards or the slot itself, but so far it seems like the majority of reports say that it's the slot itself. Sure enough, we purchased an SD card for extra storage space, and within 1 week of play the Ally already couldn't recognize any SD cards that were plugged in. I'm not a techie, but it seems like putting the SD card slot at the hottest part of the device wasn't the greatest idea... Anyway, in summary, this is a good product but it DEFINITELY has its limitations, and I would make sure to do your research and confirm these are all OK with you before you shell out the money for one of these!

Handheld gaming PC for 1/2 the price of a traditional gaming laptop. This device is not perfect. The battery life is not that great but the performance is on par. Not all games are compatible with the ROG just like the steam deck but more and more are becoming so. You can connect a keyboard/mouse via bluetood. Perfect for those who are traveling but hope theres a plug near by if you plan to use it for more than 1.5hours. No issues with heat like most ROG products.

Very capable and fun gaming machine. It's easy to navigate and use and downloading games is easy. The battery life is fairly short so I typically have to plug it in and occasionally it freezes and I can't exit a game without force closing it but it's a Windows machine so that was expected.
