Overall, great device. It just came out a little too quickly. I have this, a steam deck, and a legion go. Between the three, I use the go more then the steam deck. Screen is great looking just small for me. I do dock mine a lot to the tv and it pretty much stays there. Nice little mini pc that if I wanted to I could pick up and go. Battery life on a graphically hardened game was avg maybe 2 hours. Buttons feel too mushy for my liking. In the end, its a great budget friendly mini pc/portable gaming device.

Hardware is fantastic, but software (Windows) doesn't do justice for being a handheld PC. Install SteamOS or Bazzite on it and you'll have a better time. While you can have this as a main gaming PC, it's better off being a secondary gaming PC as some games won't run perfect on it. With Linux as the main OS, you can just stream games from your main Windows PC if needed. Unfortunately, the SD card issue is still an issue. Use the sd card for any good length of time (Like downloading a game or update), it'll throw read and write errors and stop showing up on the device until you restart. ASUS even pretended the issue doesn't exist. The problem is where they placed it within the device. The placement of the SD card has been fix on the Ally X (The next model up). ASUS also has a track record of not doing a good job on product warranties. They have multiple instances of making up issues when they receive your product at their repair facilities. Producing issues so they can ask more money out of you. tl;dr Good device, terrible SD card placement, and even worse company. Try to get the Ally X on sale instead. Only get this if it's dirt cheap.

The ROG Ally is a great handheld gaming PC! It launched rough but got better later. It's not a seamless of an experience as a Steam Deck, there is a lot of tinkering you have to do with controller settings, especially if the game isn't already controller-supported. That said, it can run more games than a Steam Deck since it uses Windows as its OS; the drawback is that it's a desktop version, and it's kind of a pain to navigate with the UI as a result-- thankfully I spend most of my time in Steam's Big Picture Mode. If you're on the fence, wait for a sale, or look for an open box/used one, but if you can deal with the caveats it's 100% worth it!

My boyfriend has been in need of a handheld gaming system for a while, and we almost went with a steamdeck untill this caought our eye. Its amazing! Its a pc in a handheld device! No more nights with the tv on! He plugs his headphones in and can play for hours, and i can get a great nights sleep. Even better is we went on a road trip for a week and it still worked smoothly and had no issues, its literally the best gift i think i couldve gotten for him. He rants and raves about it to everyone that will listen, and is constantly running to tell me some new thing he found out it could do. Best purchase for sure

So happy I got this, has lived up to all my expectations and then some. The hard drive is pretty small but I bought a 2 TB drive knowing this and first thing I did was swap the 500 gig one out. I've been kind of staying away from best buy, had purchased something for $299 years ago and found out I couldn't use it but when I went to return it (still unopened) they said they can't because it was past 30 days, told the employee I'm going to exchange it and spend another $800 but still wouldn't do it for me, that was the last time I used Best Buy but I'm very happy I recently went back. The best buy employee took the time to get it for me and was very helpful. Seen a couple other products I'll probably be returning for in the near future.

I have been very happy with my Asus ROG ally, from streaming games from my desktop to playing games on GeForce now to playing games installed on device the experience has been very consistent and very enjoyable. I had been concerned that it might take a lot of tweaking of have settings to get things to run smoothly, but it really doesn't take much at all. The only negatives I've had so far is with armory crate, it is a little finicky, but it works most of the time, or Windows 11 it self. I have noticed the WiFi card sometimes had trouble with my network and switching between mesh nodes. The best part of this device is, in my opinion, streaming games, be it via moonlight, or GeForce now. This is because you get a bit better battery life and can play games at 1080p.

I couldn’t decide between the different models but after having many years of using ROG Devices, I choose to give it a chance and it’s awesome! Super fast and plays many of the favorites with ease. Additionally, it has no problem playing steam games. Only issue I’ve come acrossed is with Starfield however, it’s a Microsoft issue not a game or device is. With the recent Windows update, if you try to load Starfield, it says the graphics card drivers are out of date but they aren’t. Because of this, the game does sometimes crash. I’m hoping Microsoft fixes this issues as I do love Starfield. Side Note - This ROG Ally was able to play Starfield with no issues other than mentioned above.

The specs of this thing made it sound really appealing but in practice it's not that great. I have to run games on low graphics settings and even then it barely reaches 60fps. It also gets hot if you play while charging even if you reduce the power output. I've measured up to 95°C. It's also not comfortable to hold. The grips are way too thin. I'm sure that part is better for the new xbox version that has extended grips. Overall I think this would be a decent $300 machine. I was lucky and got it on sale for $450 comspred to the normal $700 price, so I didn't overpay by too much but i still feel like it was too much for what it is

The product was open box and in great condition. Overall the product is great, battery life could be better and I prefer steam OS over windows 11, once steam OS is available for this device it will be way better. Overall it’s great works well, plays games with ease.

A absolutely LOVE this thing. The performance is pretty incredible for the price and convenience. Battery life isn’t great, but I’m rarely playing it away from an outlet. It certainly has all the various quirks of PC gaming, but if you have a gaming computer already, you will be familiar with all that entails. Its definitely not gaming console, for better or worse. Its also rather lightweight, and the controls feel great. I thought it was a little lacking in ergonomics, but an inexpensive case fixed this. I really cant recomment this more for somone who wants to bring their gaming pc with them.

Overall I would not recommend this as an upgrade to a steam deck; however, if you're trying to get a handheld PC for the first time this one offers a lot of things that the Deck doesnt. For one, it can play any windows game natively - no need to worry about compatability. The screen is higher resolution and it looks quite a bit better than the Deck's. That said, you do have to deal with Windows and sometimes that can be a bit Janky. For what's its worth, not nearly as janky as I've found it on a full desktop - it's still the same operating system but seems to work smoother. I do recommend the machine is solid, plays anything I throw at it and I personally like it's design better than the Deck. The sticks and buttons could be a little better - but that's aobut it.

I purchased the Asus ROG Ally from Best Buy last year, and it's exceeded my expectations. This compact powerhouse handles everything I throw at it, playing all the games I usually run on my gaming rig without missing a beat. The portability is fantastic for on-the-go gaming, and the performance is top-notch. I'm thoroughly satisfied with it and would highly recommend it to any gamer looking for a mobile gaming solution!

this is great handheld to play pc games but if is your first time playing pc games. it going to be little hard for you to set it up. it required a microsoft account and created another account plus doing a lot of updates and downloading. but you can play any game at good resolution and run good fps. on this handheld you can play at any planform like Steam ,Epic games, xbox and many more.

Love this thing. Plays just about anything on Steam. The battery life is horrendous but I knew that going in. If you are close to a power outlet this is great. Don't expect to go on a long road trip and play AAA games for hours. If your expectations are realistic then you will love it. As always do your homework! This is pricey , read reviews , watch video reviews , make an informed choice!

Do you love gaming on a PC but have a wife and kids?? This powerful handheld gaming PC is perfect for you! The console has been a blast and have been neglecting my gaming rig in the game room and have been playing in bed next to my wife. Is it perfect? No. This system will fry almost all modern SD cards due to the poor heat dissipation around the SD card reader. Does it come with the usual Windows 11 jank? Yes. But if you are used to Windows you will know how to deal with the hang ups.

Best handheld PC I've owned so far, better than the Steam Deck. Great connection to peripherals, Windows based operating system allows me to download more than just Steam. Can run Ubisoft and Blizzard clients as well as Epic Games store with no issue. Graphics are one of the bright spots on this device, you're not looking at setting all the settings to HIGH or ULTRA, however for the size and screen they'll deliver a punch. The screen is one of the best things about this device. High refresh rate, increased brightness and easy of use allow it to make gaming very easy.

Absolutely amazing device. I am shocked that since I purchased the Ally on day one, I have played it significantly more than my Steam Deck. I know there have been issues with some devices but just speaking from my experience, I have already logged several hundreds of hours across Silent, Performance, and Turbo Modes and I have no dead-zone issues and my SD Card and SD Card Reader are perfectly fine. I'm not minimizing those issues, just relaying my experience so far. Also, after the latest BIOS Update to increase fan speed I have noticed only the tiniest increase in overall fan noise. It is till far more quiet than the Steam Deck. If you are into PC Gaming and High-end Emulation this device is just about as good as you can get for the price.

I love this device. This thing plays games well especially if your familiar with windows and dont mind the fine tuning of game settings for some of the newer more intense games to run well. The 1080p screen is just big enough to play comfortably while still keeping games looking good both at 720p and 1080p. Overall device i find very comfortable and being a windows operating system its compatible with so many other programs your not limited to what you can play or do on it by the operating system or a specific game store. Only downside is the SD card port problem so id recommend looking into doing the very easy SSD swap for more space and just forget this thing has a SD Slot.
