ROG Ally
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest it is a great system. It loads fast and being a Windows based system it is very user friendly. My only gripe is that the system comes with a 512GB SSD but can be upgraded with an SD card. My left bumper has a squeaky sound but it does not affect the way it plays its just a little annoying. I am playing Steam games, some free to play games, and Xbox Game Pass runs great! The ASUS dock was not in stock when I purchased this so I will have to update my review at a later time.

An excellent handheld if you have a PC gamer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good gaming console, Im very impresed I can emulate GameCube on the lowest wattage that the console can bring me, it can run all my library at good framerates. The build quality is good, not perfect but is good. One of the fan is making a low frequency sound lately. The speakers are so good, the display is also good. Sometimes the software is kind of buggy, but if you have experience with Windows, is not going to be a big problem.

Great Performance, Low Battery
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a beast for being a handheld. You can run anything that would run on a Windows PC. I do not suggest this if you’re not tech savy as there is not really any sort of console experience, its straight Windows. If you are then this thing is great but just make sure you’re near an outlet because this thing dies in less than 2 hours.

Ok but not great.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great concept But, if you wanna play competitively this is not it. This is more like offline games. Playing FIFA online or any shooting game online is unplayable. You’re gonna lose. And when I say online games, I’m talking about playing games at 1080p 40-60fps And some are lower than 40fps which I really don’t wanna play games with those fps. Also sometimes it freezes and you gotta hard reset. Goes to deep sleep and the only way to turn it on is hard reset. Battery in turbo is like 1 hr and 20 mins It gets hot. Inserted sd in slot and got my rig Ally slow. Maybe it was about to burn idk. Button on top are too small too. When I saw this I was so excited, I was like I’ll be able to game in my bed. Besides all the faults, after a while it’s tiring holding it. Overall if you don’t care about all those negative I mentioned you should be able to enjoy it. I wish I could’ve enjoy it. Just get an open box for $500 Is not worth $600 or $700

Excellent IF you can find one with good QC.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's cheaper than an OLED Steam Deck and in my honest to god opinion it's a better deal than the Steam Deck because it can run Windows titles. Now, the Steam Deck is a good mix of hardware and software, a page out of apple's handbook. This is...Windows. Asus tried to make it optimized for their device but at the end of the day...windows will be windows. That said, for the games I wanted to play this was more than fine! I really enjoyed it! However that's assuming you can find one that doesn't have gaps, or squeaky triggers, or what have you. I'd personally would check in the store before taking one home. Asus and QC are...like oil and water. But once you find the one, it's absolutely worth it imo. The one negative is the USB port isn't USB 4. it was capped at 3.2 so that we'd buy their OVERPRICED XG Mobile eGPU which hilariously costs more than the unit itself. Absolutely dumb.

Powerful gaming on the go
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to game on the go and play pretty much anything out there this is the way to go. It feels go in the hand, and it's well made. The screen is a good size and looks good even if it's not OLED.

It's Good, but not Great (yet). I Returned It.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was only playing mostly Steam games on it, but realized that the Steam Deck out does the Ally in that regard. Other than that, the Ally is very powerful, but not powerful enough to make me not need my Steam Deck. So for that I returned it. The biggest reason I got the Ally was to play Diablo 4, but again, that also works really well on the Steam Deck. If you are very familiar with Windows gaming, it is a great handheld. It's very powerful, people get great specs out of games you wouldn't even dream of playing on the Steam Deck. And if you're into juggling updates, worrying if the SD card reader will nuke your card, and constantly wondering you should get the XG Mobile, then this is it. All kidding aside, I wouldn't say it's a good place to start Windows gaming. Just not a great place. Armory Crate does well in managing your library and being able to update your settings on the fly very easily. Being able to play MS GamePass, EPIC, and Blizzard games on the go is also very awesome Also there's no denying it's pretty powerful even if you want to use it as you main computer. But in the end, it wasn't for me at full price. If it goes on sale I'll reconsider. Or even if I win $400 for doing this review, I will surely pick it up again (*ahem* Best Buy). For me, I just wasn't in the market for just okay at that price so it went back.

ROG Ally Review
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome, solid build and great performance. I was able to play Cyberpunk on it with no lag. Downside, any games that require accuracy like shooter games is very difficult to play.

Asus ROG Ally
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device. Really enjoying it myself. No issues at all, some are having issues and it’s gonna happen with a new device. Try it out and see for yourself! Playing AAA games, older games, and everything else is a blast and it does pretty well for what it is! Battery life sucks BUT power banks are available and of course regular outlets are pretty much everywhere. Please enjoy!

Doubles as a PC
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a PC for school but rarely use laptops for personal use. I wanted more utility so I picked up this device to double as a handheld gaming system and a PC. It does everything I need it to. I can run regression analysis in Excel and play Starfield on Xbox GamePass. Its the perfect device for me

Best Windows Handheld Gaming Device
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the best Windows gaming device on the market, if you don’t want to lug a gaming laptop around. It is super light, sleek, and comfortable to hold and game on for hours on end. The VRR 1080p screen is bright and vivid and makes the Steam Deck screen look dull and washed out. The Armoury Crate software is ok, but this thing is a gaming powerhouse that plays literally any Steam or PC AAA or indie or retro game. Exceeds all my expectations.

More than i hoped for
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device has gotten a lot of updates and asus has been supporting it greatly. Windows can be a blessing and a curse in that you cant just play a game. You have to stay on top of those updates and they are found in multiple places armory crate snd asus app for drivers, including the standard windows updates. Once you get through that the armory crate has a ton of options and you can take your time learning all of those. Only downside is battery life. I get normally about an hr and a half off the charge. Expect to not fully max out on your games and play mostly on meddium settings. Some may ask then why even have the options. Well becuase it comes down to choice and what you prioritize as more important when gaming. This is influenced by what you play and how demanding it is. Some simple games and side scrollers you can go crazy with. Some games have great scenery so you want textures and resolution maxed without effecting game play to much, in that case you lower other settings. Windows handheld is all about choices and tweaking things to get the most of what you want from that particular game. The ability to play more demanding games with compromise is the point of this type of device. Where as something like a switch they make the decision for you and just plug it in. With windows you have full access to steam, epic's game store and xbox gamepass. Its delightful and at a good price.

Best Handheld Gaming PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is almost a month since release day, and my ROG Ally has been proving that is it a capable gaming PC in an handheld form factor. It was easy to clone over the SSD to 1TB ssd and now I have it running all my steam games, as well as do emulation, and run non-steam games like b.net and GoG stuff. Add a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and you have a gaming laptop and competitive with equivalent $700 gaming laptop. The performance is simply unparalleled and blows the steamdeck out of the water by large margins. Windows 11 however is a nasty thing Microsoft has imposed on all current gen x86 hardware. It needs to customized, tuned, and tamed before you can really use any Win11 device, and this is doubly true for ROG Ally. You need do a lot win11 tweaks to get it to harmonize with the way you want to use a handheld PC in the handheld use case. It is a lot of trial and error find the settings you like. Use it with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor/tv then there is less to fuss about but I never liked Win11 in its default settings and configuration. It is best to start off using the ROG Ally with keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached and work thru all the setup., configuration, and tuning of the Win11 installation. When you are comfortable with that then you start tailoring it for handheld use.

Excellent as a gaming device or mini pc.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Asus ROG Ally, and I'm thrilled with its performance as a gaming device and mini PC. It has been a godsend for emulation, effortlessly running games from the PS3, Nintendo Switch, and GameCube flawlessly. While the battery life isn't the greatest, it has worked well for me during gaming sessions. With its powerful features and versatility, the Asus ROG Ally is a must-have for gamers and emulation enthusiasts alike. Highly recommended! Five stars!
