Great device with lots of issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off i have had 2 units, the first one killed a brand new 1tb A2 card from Silicon Power(brand) ordered from amazon. The first one would also put the screen in a sleep state that the units screen wouldnt wake from, i could hear the sounds from the games but the screen wouldnt turn back on. Unit 2 has been mostly ok but in the case no pressure on it or anything the entire analog stick cap came off and would not go back on, the only way is to replace it internally. STILL I would like to say as far as gaming power and capability all in all when all is working THIS IS THE BEST GAMING EXPERIENCE EVER even over all of my other more powerful systems, it has the best sound ever in a handheld, best screen quality, the hi def vibration is great, and when you put all of those things together you get a sense filled experience while gaming, that said, I have large hands and the ergonomics could use some work on the next iteration. It feels ok but not great in my opinion.

Great Little Handheld
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only Real Gripe is its convoluted setup process and failure to hide the fact that its a windows based machine with UI problems. Otherwise when you get past all that stuff its a Great Device! Runs Most modern PC games beautifully and is lightweight and feels good in the hands

Awesome as long as you do your research.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome as long as you understand its limitations. I can play all of my games on it just don't expect 60 fps high settings. First thing is make sure you get all of the updates, YouTube is your friend please watch all the tutorials you can on setting it up my favorites are videos from RetroGame Corp and ETA Prime. Once you have it all setup and games downloaded please use Google to find the best settings per game.

Great handheld PC!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I freaking love it! I have a steam deck and its a great handheld, but the Ally is superior in a lot of ways. The Ally's controls, power and weight are the main plus for me, but the only downside is the windows 11 bloat and slightly janky UI. Overall thought it's a fantastic purchase and I would personally recommend it over all the options if you want a great handheld PC at a decent price point.

||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this item for about a while and I’ve had no issues whatsoever. Plays games great, it’s fast, and the cooling system is great. wish the battery was larger though. It plays a while with older titles though. It’s worth it to me.

ROG Ally is a great handheld gaming PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ROG Ally runs my PC games smoothly without any issues. The battery life is short, but I knew that before I bought it. I solved that problem by purchasing a 50000 mAh battery pack. I also knew about the heat issue with the SD card slot, I don’t need to use it so that is not a problem for me. If I want extra space I will upgrade the SSD, instead of using SD cards.

Good littl pc
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this thin, my wife also uses it and enjoys the heck out of it. Fair warning though, battery life isn’t great no matter how you run it. Runs gamepass stuff without an issue, ran remnent 2 and it runs pretty good overall. It’s not going to be running it in high settings but for a current console game to run at 60fps with some tweaking of the settings, can’t complain all in all.

Vs Steam Deck
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating between this and the Steam Deck and ultimately decided on this due to the colors, brightness, and resolution. I have since used both and am able to say that this is better than the steam deck in most regards. It is a little more expensive but definitely worth it if you don't want the track pads the steam deck has. That is the only factor the steam deck wins at comparing the two.

Absolutely Love It
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus ROG Ally is great though it may not fit your needs. Pros - Windows 11 - Comfortable Design - Runs most games with no issues - Beautiful screen - Quality build - Good customization/power profiles Cons - Windows 11 - Very limited battery life - No good carry case available Meh - Asus launcher software - functional but could be better

Device of the Year?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is WONDERFUL! I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone using a handheld gaming device especially if you play PC games. I've played multiple AAA titles on this without falter. Destiny 2, Cyberpunk, Diablo IV, etc. Only complaint is the battery life outside of it's charging state. if you're gaming on the go, really bump down the intensity or else you're looking at a minimum duration of gaming.. like maybe 1 hour at higher wattage usage

Been playing with this almost every night
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this when my pre-order for a lenovo legion go got back ordered and I dont regret it one bit. Powerful enough to run most modern games well. Only 2 drawbacks are that the hard drive isn’t that big (upgraded mine to 1tb), and the rog allys have issues with the SD card reader causing them to fail.

Great Handheld PC for Diablo 4
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a handheld PC to play Diablo 4 and it came down to the ROG Ally or the SteamDeck with workaround. The price point of the ROG Ally was comparable to the SteamDeck with 512gb, so I had to decide if the $50 price difference was worth it. After watching and reading a lot of reviews comparing the two, I decided to give the ROG Ally a try. Having used Windows 11 and having set up multiple PCs with this OS, I felt like I could troubleshoot some of the issues discussed in the reviews. The few issues that kept appearing in reviews (i.e. microSD card corruption, FPS performance at 15W, etc.) were supposedly addressed in recent firmware and BIOS updates. First thing I did as soon as I booted up the ROG Ally was perform these updates before attempting to game on the device, and I believe this addressed most of the performance issues others experienced at launch. I was able to download and install battle.net and Diablo 4 pretty easily and was able to get sustained 60fps while plugged in and using Turbo Mode. So far, I’ve put about 7-8 hrs on D4 both plugged in and on battery and have enjoyed the experience. Coming from mouse and keyboard on a gaming PC with 144fps to the ROG Ally took a little getting used to, but after about an hour I had no issues playing the game using the ROG Ally controller. I also tried partying up with some friends using the hotel Wi-Fi and was able to run dungeons for a couple of hours without any disconnections or significant lag. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my purchase and will update my review after I’ve put in more hours on the ROG Ally!

Over all it’s good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good product honestly. Although open box does not come with a charger, you can easily get one off of amazon for like 20-30$. It’s a big savings if your looking to purchase. The only downfall is the battery life but as these products continue to come out they will figure out better battery life.

Great gaming device…. Just manage your expectation
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did return this since I was able to get the legion Go open box for a $110 less than the original price. But yea…. After updating and some tweaking it was working well. Control game ran with 60+ FPS at 720p with medium settings easily I barely heard the fan go off. It can go up to 1080P but not every game will run at this setting…. The ROG ally software doesn’t compare to the steam deck but I do like it better than the legion go for now. Battery is what you would expect from this type of handheld…. Not very good so keep a Powerbank with you. Sound is the best compared to the legion go and steam deck and I do mean way better!! So if you’re planning on getting one this would be a great time…. Open box items are close to $150 off. Just manage ur expectations though and you will enjoy this wonderful piece of gaming device.

3 years later and it still packs a punch.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing still does not cease to amaze me. Just this morning I was sitting on my couch playing battlefield 6 getting 60 frames per second with optimized settings. If you are unsure of the handheld PC market, you cannot best this thing in terms of price vs performance for an entry level purchase. Perfect for on the go.

Great budget level gaming laptop essentially
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for ppl with motion sickness. Expect to always be plugged in - esp for the extra performance boost, but it's an extremely powerful handheld - albeit with some quirks. No, its definitely not future proof, but for ppl who have nostalgia, or a huge list of games in their steam they have not touched/finished, this is great for that.

Pros, Cons, and some Suggestions
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's overall pretty good, definitely not for someone who can't operate a windows machine. There's some technical bits and bobs when first getting it watch a few YouTube vids on optimizing the device. Bad bits aside though it's an amazing machine I can play modded BG3 on high graphics with an average of 30 frames, unmodded same settings average of 45, it zooms at my 60 fps frame create cap for cyberpunk, the fans honestly are super quiet when it's on its turbo setting you can definitely feel the device heat up but the beautiful speakers drown out any fan noise and even with Bluetooth headphones or earbuds you can't hear the fans. It's got a headphone jack which makes it better than most flagship phones, Bluetooth compatible and you can use an external graphics card. All honesty get an external GPU for like 900-1200 bucks by this an external GPU that has a built in USB support and get a wireless keyboard and mouse set and you'll have a full desktop PC at half the cost, and you'll still be able to take the heart of your setup anywhere and it'll still give most modern games a good detail.

Battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great as promised only issue is battery life it doesn't last very long you pretty much have about 45 min to an hour before you have to charge it but performance wise it works great. Also maybe storage but you could always just add more.

Amazing machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is amazing, I am able to play all my games on steam and on 1080p and everything looked crisp. I have the steamdeck but since steamdeck can only do 800p things look grainy so the ROG ally just looks better and is more powerful I love it!! The only drawback is the ergonomics are not as comfortable as the steamdeck and the battery.
