This little machine is great! I love that i can play not only my ste games but my xbox games away from home without having to stream them or rely on a good internet connection. Feels good to hold and not to heavy. Only negative thing but is expected with these handhelds is the battery life. Its always smart to carry something around with you to charge it

Very solid gaming device. I use it for all my retro games and modern pc. Mostly 720p with medium settings on the moat demanding, and runs everything up to ps3 great. Screen quality is very good with the 120hz 1080p.

Amazing handheld gaming PC. I preordered and have not been disappointed. It plays well, but being a PC it only gets a few hours of battery life at most. This is to be expect for what it is. If I'm gonna be playing it somewhere and I won't be able to plugin a bring my power bank that has USB PD 3.0. I also own a Nintendo Switch OLED and the Ally is actually much more comfortable to hold although it is heavier.

I love this device! Does it have issues? Yes. Is windows far from perfect? Also yes. But overall this is a great little device, and its great to be able to play my games on the go. So far my experience has been overall pleasant. Set up was a pain, and I do get glitches now and then, but I still am happy with my purchase.

I've been using this for about 3 weeks now, and man is it great. I use it at work as I have several rounds of downtime 30-90 minutes long. It has been playing D4, POE, Battlefield 2042, and BG3 wonderfully. The screen is crisp and vivid, I have had no issues running at 1080. D4 I am averaging around 70-90 FPS, no stuttering, no issues. This thing has been amazing so far playing the games I like on a mobile device.

So I bought this I’d say a month or so ago and ran into a lot of lagging random blue screens and I had to return my original one because it had a password on it but after getting a newer one still ran into a couple of issues and ran into performance issues as well, but on certain games, it ran great and just wished it had more battery life

The Ally delivers into what is meant to do. A powerful mobile machine. I can take this thing everywhere, it’s a computer and console that plays runs and looks super smooth. I can’t wait to see what the future will bring with Asus Mobile devices. Excellent work here! Highly recommend, I’m a busy parent that can’t afford to sit for hours in front of a PC with this I can whip it out anytime and get some play time!

This device is great for gaming on the go. You should not expect this to play games on ultra settings. The battery life is hit or miss, and this not for non-technical. Highly recommend getting a technical friend to help set this up

It is a great device with full access to muliple different libraries. The battery life isnt the best especially when you play games like cyberpunk 2077 but its the norm with these kinds of machines. The Veriable Refresh Rate really makes the difference between other hand helds the inbuilt speakers actually sound pretty good especially if you use Dolby atmos.

I bought this on launch day and am super impressed with the screen, interface and performance however am having tons of issues running updates (whether they fail or pass, they pass installing and the updater doesnt realize it), to games randomly crashing or not installing. This really needs more time to be ready and should have been delayed instead of pushing for the initial release date. I will be returning mine this evening and going back to my Steam Deck for now. I'll reevaluate in a few months whether or not to upgrade then. For $700, this thing should be performing near flawless and it is not.

      Dear khepatrix,

We certainly value your feedback on this matter, and I will be letting the related department know about the issues you are experiencing for continuous improvements to the product line. After installing your updates, did you reset your system? If so do the updates still show after the restart? When the crash occurred were there any error messages popping up? In some cases, you may need to adjust your graphical settings. If you’re still experiencing issues, feel free to contact me if you have any technical or general questions. Im a Steam Deck fan-boy that LOVES the concept of handheld gaming. After having the Deck for over a year I have to say, the ROG Ally is better in almost EVERY way. While I actually prefer the ergonomics of the Deck, the Ally blows it away with performance, compatibility, and style. WHY AREN'T MORE REVIEWS MENTIONING THE SPEAKERS?? The Ally has 10x better sound! I'm loving the Ally and couldn't recommend it more.

Great performance and great portability. It is easy to carry than Steam deck and have windows 11 running smoothly. With latest update of Bios firmware and software update, you can pretty much customize all config based on your need per game. I can set up 920p with 18w for Baldurs gate 3 and can run medium setting smoothly and play over 1.5 hr. Going to sold my Steam deck.

This where i do 80% of my gaming for the last couple years. Absolutely love it. My only complaint is that the SD card slot does not work which is apparently an issue with the model I have. Could have submitted it to be fixed, but seemed like too much effort.

I see a bunch of people knocking this device and always comparing it to the Steam deck. I owned a Deck and got tired of always searching the Net to figure what script I needed to get to work with my LG. To get it to recognize docks NVME drive. The straw that broke the camels back was novel voice over wouldn’t work and I was told to contact the game maker when it work on my PC and Mac. Steam deck is cool but a lot of Hupe. I dumped mine and got the ROG Ally. I’m so happy I’m not having to go to desktop enter in text to get functions to work. When did I become an employee of Steam? The Ally works really good for. Instead of having to tinker to get stuff to work I can actually go play. And because of the Windows OS I haven’t had a game not play. I don’t have to typ in scripts to get Xbox cloud to work. I just long into Battlenet x loud etc and it works. Yes the battery drains fast if you have the performance setting cranked up. To me the ROG Ally is a better experience than the Steam deck. I came to play games not work on a handheld. Put in the first day to do updates and downloads then after that just play. I feel the display quality is awesome. I’m just really happy with this unit so far. For me it is way less frustrating than the Steam Deck. They are two different handhelds with different strengths and weaknesses. But for me the ROG Ally was more fun and enjoyable to use. The only thing I don’t like is cost. And lastly Best Buy shipped this thing mad fast. I’m starting to really enjoy Best Buy again
